Post Op June 2014 Sleevers
LivingProof replied to KimGettingSlim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, Everybody! I'm June 18 and happy to be here! Just got out of the hospital this afternoon and I'm ready to live! So good to meet all of you! Now, I check into that June 2014 Sleevers Board how? -
Do you trust your surgeon? If so, then I think you can trust the process. I'm just now sleeved about 24 hours, and I feel great!!! Not to say I never got the Wobblies, but is asked questions until I felt good about my understanding of the process. Already I'm one day into the greatest adventure of my life! Bless you, and I pray you'll find the best way forward for yourself!

June 18th Sleevers?
LivingProof replied to newgirl2014's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow. Tomorrow. Tomorrow! We get to push the re-set button, we get to start over. We get to be healthy and strong! Keep the faith, everybody. We are totally going to ROCK this. If you can, take some technology with you to the hospital--and let's check in when we wake up. I can't wait! It's been 18 months since I started this process. I was cleared by insurance a year ago, but....I couldn't walk because of my knees. So, one year and two knee replacements later, I am ready to do this! God bless you all. See you on the other side! -
THIS is how the first 4 weeks go...

This is great! I'm heading into surgery Wednesday--scared to death I won't do this right. But, I really get it--this is a body-thing that heals and gets stronger and starts to feel normal again...eventually. Thanks so much! -
body attitude change after you made the decision for WLS?
LivingProof replied to mamaofmatthew's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did. It was sort of my way of giving up. I mean, now I was officially, medically overweight, and a medical team agreed I needed surgery. That was like, this problem is too big for you,sit back and we will take over. Not saying that's how you feel, but that's how I felt. It helped me big time to keep reading this forum. Eventually I got into work mode, but it took time. I hope you find some mojo here. You're worth the effort this surgery will take. Good luck! -

Hey, mrshall617, I am tremendously impressed with your guy going through the liquid diet with you!! I've been on this site long enough to know that, if you want to, you can rent him out!! LOL. Seriously, that's terrific! You're headed into Wednesday with a guy in the waiting room who seriously loves you! Time to give all our cheerleaders (and I hope we've all got 'em) a big thank-you.... Getting a little scared here. This is totally gonna change my whole life. Wow. -

June 18th Sleevers?
LivingProof replied to newgirl2014's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just thinking today how thankful I am to have all of you to go through this with. I'm in Atlanta, and I'm planning, planning, planning for the 18th--what should I take (definitely my iPad so I can stay in touch with you), and um, well, that's as far as I've gotten. But....I go to the grocery store this afternoon, and I'm popping around looking for the SF popsicles, the SF Jello, the broth, the chewy Vitamins. Oh, my. :-/ This, for TWO WEEKS after surgery? I'm making a binder, so I can just kind of go on "automatic," and I won't have to think about food (what can I have and when?) after. What I can have will be here, and I'll have a place to record it. I know for many people there's a season of "buyer's remorse" after the surgery. Like, OMG, what have I done? I hope it doesn't hit me, but if it does, it does. I'm looking forward to seeing that scale drop. I'm looking forward to seeing my cheekbones. I'm looking forward to shopping in regular sizes. I'm looking forward to being mistaken for Kate Middleton....okay, that might be a bridge too far!!! Good luck, everybody!!! -

NEWBIES..... LETS STICK TOGETHER
LivingProof replied to pattiecakes79's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
For any of you looking for some pre- and post-surgery guidelines you can google life after WLS, and you'll find a bunch of stuff about what you can eat and when. The quality of the stuff you'll find is mixed. I recommend looking up the one from the bariatric center at the University of Missouri. It's the best one I've come across and it will answer a ton of questions. If you are wondering where and how to approach this process, I recommend you find a Bariatric Center of Excellence as a starting point. The staff will have lots of experience, they'll generally advocate for you with your insurance company, and you'll get great care and support--at least you should! A bunch of people go abroad for this surgery, and you can find their stories on this site--and there's a lot of information about specific doctors! My guy is Paul Macik. I'm in the Atlanta area. Let's all hang in this together! LP. :-) -
NEWBIES..... LETS STICK TOGETHER
LivingProof replied to pattiecakes79's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi everybody, I'm pretty new. I've finished the 6-month diet--no substantial loss for me--so I used the time to read everything I cd on WLS. That made me really sure this surgery was right for me. I'm scheduled for June 18--and want to encourage everyone else behind me! -
I was a "super healthy" fat person until surgery changed my life. Was it worth it?
LivingProof replied to LipstickLady's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Wow. All I can say is wow. This was helpful on about a zillion levels. Thanks for sharing! -
Couple of questions here: 1) do most surgeons who do the VSG also do the VS? 2) I'm set for VSG surgery in March, but I'm intrigued and very interested in this surgery--especially because I'd rather do one surgery rather than one plus a follow up; 3) is there anyone out there who regrets this and wishes they had just gotten a VSG; 4) do all of you believe that you malabsorption/vitamin issues are a) fully addressed with supplements and watching your numbers and that you're not shortening your lives or in line for some other wicked medical condition; and 5) I've been reading the VSG site for almost a year now. Lotsa people still struggling with dieting and food addiction issues. Has anyone NOT lost weight with this surgery? Are you happy? Are you able to maintain and live a fairly normal life? Sorry for all these questions, and, for those of you who answer, thanks from the bottom of my heart.

Has anyone heard of the VSG WITH DuODENAL SwITCH? Here's what I read: 1) much more difficult EVER to re-gain weight; 2) you can eat and drink at the same time; and 3) only 50 doctors do this surgery. Sounds like a total dream! Is it too good to be true???
