Advice needed... Liquid to puree 5days post surg
Carlotta1 replied to Skittles00's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to delay purees for one more week. I could not keep it down.. It took me till about week 5 to not having to regurgitate my purees. But with a click of the finger. I could eat beef, etc. At. The beginning of week 6. -
In some cases..you will not be able to get your recommended protein and liquids in after the surgery.. My nut told me to expect that..and that is exactly what happened. So just be patient with your intake. At 6 weeks I was at my quota of protein and fluids. As far as gurgling, I do get that..I had the Lapland removed so I figure that is what is happening to me. Surgeon told me that my esophagus. Was stretched with the lap and and in time..it will narrow .

So scared, someone calm me down
Carlotta1 replied to AuntieLala83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To assure that u are ok..I would call your surgeon just in case there is an issue.. -
Hello 830830...congrats on your recent surgery. One week after surgery..I had a day of. mourning over the lost if my best friend, my consoler, my go to. ...FOOD. On that one day, I wanted to binge ..I wanted my best friend that I loved so much for 40 years. I knew I could use my friend anymore.. I was so sad.. It was day of realism..however, with that mourning..my mind flipped. It was also my day of acceptance..that I had to let go of my best friend. Though I know my friend can come and knock on my door again, I am doing the best to keep her a bay. Every since my sleeve, it is so much easier to jump into what life has to offer..rather than being in a stupor with high fat, high sugar food. I have discovered my cues of head hunger'. I.e. Tiredness', stress , and anxiety. I am very aware when I have head hunger..then I take the time out and evaluate what situation I Have put my day in. Then I slowdown..tell myself that nothing is worth being anxious about ..to,sabotage my health journey. You are going through a transition..and that is an integral part of growth towards health..when I are feeling out of your body. The time to analyze your feelings and write it down..face your new reality. Make sure you are not over exercising. Not eat all your Protein...etc etc. Your body is healing.. So be patient..be kind to yourself.. I am so happy that had that one horrible day. I did not binge..I eat what I was directed to. But it was a day of awakening. So embrace change. Even though it is foreign to you right now.

Has anyone has the 6 month dieatary counseling waived?
Carlotta1 replied to Lady Rock's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did not have to be b a diet prior to rather surgery. However,I did need a letter from my gyno showing my weight history for the past. 5 years. In addition, I had to write down all my weight loss attempts, and there was plenty to write. I also was on a supervised hospital weight loss program three time in my life which was documented since the hospital, paid for part it. With all that said..I was approved within 2 months after my first appt with the dr. I did lose 10 pounds prior to surgery:) ... -
This should be totally fine. Speak with your surgeon if u feel still uncomfortable about flying, I am 3 months out and flying out tomorrow.

New here! Wife to a wonderful man getting a gastric sleeve after lapband
Carlotta1 replied to dania224's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had the band removed and sleeve done on the same day of surgery. Unfortunately the band did not work for me.. I like what the sleeve has done for me thus far. The only thing I would ask your husband if he is ready to make lifetime changes to keep his weight off. The sleeve is not magic..there is work to be successful..it would be advisable for your husband to why he gained his weight back with the band. Was it emotional eating caused by stress, boredom, etc etc. Did he have a consistent exercise plan that he did stick to. If your husband soul searches ..he will be ahead of his game this time. Ps it won't hurt to see a psychologist, pre and post op. These are my suggestions. Wishing your husband good luck in making a healthy change in his life. -
I love myfitnesspal. It is free and their database of foods is awesome. I see many people on this site using this site to log in their weight Calories , protein, fat and carbohydrate goals for a day. It is also easy to use.

I was advised not to lift anything heavy for one month. Maybe handling your motorcycle put stress on your stitches. -

can vsg help in the quest to cure binge eating?
Carlotta1 replied to karen44's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I agree with PDXman ,,it won't cure binge ester. However I find it helps tremendously. ..I was a binge eater. I saw an eating disorder psychologist for 8 weeks prior to surgery. And seeing her every other week after my sleeve surgery. I use food when I am stressed, too tired or feel very anxious. The sleeve has def curbed my physical hunger ..but I have to still be aware of my head. When head hi pungent raises it's ugly head. I analyze myself ..figure out why I feel this way..and take action.. Either by slowing down, lay on soda and rest. I started a consulting job and this made me so anxious..nervous feeling. I had to talk to myself and say that my health i pis much more important than any job. Putting me as priority..not a job that I doing to fill up time I gave on my hands, I can honestly say that I had a 'small binge" only one day. since surgery. Nothing could fill me up..mentally. However , physically I was sick.I ate the wrong foods. After I analyzed myself.,and understood what made me ear unhealthy foods. I got composed and went right back with eating my nutritious meals the rest of the day. In the past, I would intake about 2,000 to 3,000 calories of junk during a binge Mostly sweets. The "binge I had with the sleeve was about 500 calories. I did not beat myself up with this...cause I understood myself as to why it occurred. I did post on this website that day for encouragement. It helped tremendously. Prior to surgery , the all or none attitude (perfection) with my setting would send me on a binge for days.. I would say..oh I will try again on Monday. One more thing, the sleeve has decreased my appetite tremendously, when I eat my Protein first, then veggies..I am very satisfied and I usually don't want another bite. Prior to surgery , I had a bottomless pit and never felt full..even after a binge. -
As long as u don't lift anything heavy and rest. Then I would surely take the offer. I love camping ..so good for the soul .

Exercising vs not exercising
Carlotta1 replied to cbwalker79's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My opinion is not to stop exercising. How many calories are u taking in..and about how many calories you are expending with exercise, I would prefer a body with more muscle , more firmness , more pounds than a body with little muscle/tone and less weight. Who do u think would look healthier and actually is Healthier Body 1 or 2. Of course BODY #1 .. If u feel u are not taking in enough calories for the amount of exercise u r doing...then Increase it a little and see what happens .. -
Omg.. I love your before and after pics. What a difference ..what to you mean about it is not as much as some others. You r doing fantastic. And be proud. Don't compare yourself to others. You have your own journey and u are knocking it out of the ballpark. So happy for you.

Happy Tears in dressing room: Size 22/24 -->16!
Carlotta1 replied to Dr-Patient's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So nice to hear someone who is so happy with her accomplishments. I was wearing big pants too..until earlier this I went to my closet upstairs (where my "smaller size" resides. ) and tried on size 8 pants. I was also shocked that they fit. Went down from a 16 to an 8. I have a lot of 4 and 6 s that I am aiming to get back into once I lose another 29 pounds. Size is more important to me than my weight. If I get to fit back into my 4's ..whatever my weight is. At that time is now for me to go on maintenance. Anyhow, ,i just wanted to let u know that I completely understand your excitement. And so happy for u.keep up the good work. You r doing. Great. And ps I love Chico's ........ -
I am extinguished about 6 oz of food and 800 calories a day. This is what I had yesterday to give u an example I am 3 months out. Breakfast. 1 whole egg plus one egg white- over medium, 1 slice 40 calorie whole wheat bread, 1 t raw honey on bread Snack..8 oz skim milk with one oz. coffee with a sweet in low. (Coffee milk) lunch.. 6 oz boiled shrimp, 2 t catsup with 1 T of light mayo (for a dip) dinner : shake. 1 cup skim milk, 1/2 cüp Greek yogurt nonfat, 1 whole banana , 1cup of diced fresh strawberry ..I add vanilla and a sweet in low with a little ice. It was. Delish Evening. 1 chicken leg..cooked without the skin Tomato and cucumber salad. That totaled up to 842 calories and 89 grams Protein. This was a high protein day for me. I like yo get in at least 70 -75 If eat weight watchers mozzarella sticks if I need to get more protein at the end of the day. Ps. I also had a sugar free Popsicle in the evening. At the beginning u won't be able to eat hardly anything..Stick to exactly to what doc tell u to eat after surgery ..by week 6 ..I was ok to eat most things. But prior to that it was a hit or miss. I also had to stay on liquids one more week than suggested since the purée foods was tough on meet.

Amen..my friend..you said it so right. "Stalls" r part of the process and it is what you do with these blips that determines your success. If u use it as discouragement..then sabotaging yourself mentally. And then you know what can happen with that. I am not dropping tons of weight every month.. It is steady, however..it also gives a chance to make last lifestyle changes along the weight loss process. Thanks for reminding us longtimecoming.

Visiting austria ? Protien
Carlotta1 replied to txsleeve624's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Why not eat the delicious proteins they serve in Austria , especially Germany . They have great food. When was your surgery? My nut said no protein shakes after one month of post op. Sleeve works better when u set solid proteins. Wants me to eat real food. So enjoy the ethnic foods of these countries. -
Post-op food nightmares..
Carlotta1 replied to Cookiesgotthis's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had food dreams., glad to see I am not the only one.. What A relief when I wake up. I guess it is "fear" showing up In our dreams. -
Having a few chocolate chips, or a bite of something does not mean u are not doing the program. My nut wants me to treat myself every once in a while. Cause it is that perfection mentally that made me gain my weight back pre op. I enjoy my foods ..most of the time I don't feel like eating chips or sweets. But when I do..I taste it , then move on. I will have more success in maintaining my weight by not having the "all or none attitude" towArds certain food. Of course, some people feel different about 100% perfect. They have their own journey.

Put my weight loss on the back burner and the burner was OFF...18 months out and 20 lb regain
Carlotta1 replied to Sassafras's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Sassafras, . Good that u r being accountable and took the reins today .. What has been done in the past is over.. Don't dwell on it. As u said u knew what to do and r are doing it. U r probably Stress eating ( Especially with losing your escrow , and waiting for another loan process is predictable with these situations , not to mention you don't have your own place) ..do your best till all is settled. Try to make good eating choices even though u eat out a lot. Go to restaurants where there r healthier fares. In my humble opinion, I would go back counting calories and eating your protein first, then veggies, then carb if there is room. Get back to basics. I would caution not to go on a "diet" but an eating program that is heathy and satisfying. In time, u will lose lose extra pounds. Just be patient. Wishing that your life gets back to normal soon. -
I was like u.. Received an approval quickly with no pre op diet. Feeling scared is normal.. Just keep yourself busy.. Time will flyby and before u know it.U r on your way to getting healthy. Keep us in the loop as to your progress. This site will give u motivation and recommendations on certain aspects of your journey. Congrats

Pre-op Sugar Addict... Worried
Carlotta1 replied to vsg_joanna's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh u sound just like me when I was preop. I was a binged on sweets. My meals at times were sweets. High fat and high sugar sweets. I would get lethargic when I did binge on this stuff. Would u believe the sleeve has drastically reduced my desire for sweets. I can not physically and don't to binge on sweets like I used to. I am drawn to healthy foods these days. With that said ..when I do want something cool and refreshing I eat sugar free Popsicles..sweets are 80% dark chocolate every once in a while. I -2. Squares. I may take one bite of sweets if we go out. And only one. I usually am satisfied with my meal to even think about a dessert. It is all good. Ps my nut wants me to have sweets occasionally to get rid of my all or nothing attitude. -
800 per day..I also got sleeved dec 9 ,, I broke several stalls by exercising hard. So I suggest u move, move , move. 70 grams protein per day. Is my daily minimum protein.

What a gorgeous couple.! Both look so healthy and young. Congrats on keeping food not a priority on your cruise..probably enjoyed it much more than if you and your wife concentrated on the "food". Isn't it amazing for food not to control your lives anymore.
