  1. Omg..I would have laughed like you hubby and son., isn't it great to experience that.. You can tell that story again and again. Don't be embarrassed.. Be proud.
  2. Have u considered the sleeve. It is less invasive. I am having very good success. To me the biggest advantage the sleeve has over the bypass is malabsorption ..having the bypass will make u have malabsorption of nutrients...for the rest of your life Investigate the advantages and disadvantages of both surgeries..talk to a board certified dr as to what is best for u..then u can make an informative decision. Btw..I did have a revision from band to sleeve.

    is something wrong with me?

I record my meal plan in myfitnesspal the night before ..I am eating about 850 calories and approx 80 grams of Protein. Sometimes I have to eat my last meal and I am not hungry at all. Since I want to take in my carb and calories, I wIt a little while longer then have the last meal. I eat 4-5 times a day. I don't want my metabolism to slow too much ..so I eat what I have planned to eat. Some days I am not hungry and I still eat what I am supposed to for nutrition/fuel. You are doing really good 50 pounds in 3 months.. So keep doing what ur doing. But just be cautious of not eating enough..

Let us know when you get on that bike. You will probably feel freedom that u had not experienced in a while, with the blowing in your face. Please keep us informed on your progress. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    So beyond frustrated

My daughter is a pa. And she told me that many docs request unnecessary test cause they make more $$$$$$$$. I would call back your cardiologist that you are having surgery and you need a letter within the next week. Have them squeeze you in. Did u have cardio issues before that needs to be watched periodically.. Insist that they see you now .. Sometimes we have to be assertive to get what we want

    Stress / Anxious Eater

Ok..don't beat up yourself.. The next time u eat today..just go back to eating your healthy meal. One twix will not sabatage your weight loss unless u continue to eat that way. Most of all have the all or nothing attitude with food. Either we are perfect..and if we slip a little..then we think we have failed which brings us to binging the rest of the day, or the rest of the week...the vicious cycle continues. It is how we deal with eating something off the program. As far as stress and anxiety are concerned. Be aware what is taking you there..you may be over tired..physically hungry ..etc étc. If a specific situation triggers stress and anxiety..try to calm yourself and say to yourself this too shall pass. I see a psychologist (preop and post op )for my binge eating so that I can have tools to handle deal with stress/anxiety.

    Frozen yogurt

It may trigger your sweet tooth. I personally treat myself to sugar free Popsicle or a small piece of 80% chocolate. the chocolate I have on a rare occasion . Sugar triggers my cravings. So I would caution u as to how it effects you.

    I'm overweight! Woohoo!

Congrats..hope to meet you soon in the world of overweight..not obese. Igh.,those labels.
  13. Welcome to the website. Most of us who have had or is going to have the sleeve is fearful of the surgery. Any surgery is a bit scary..but I thunk it scarier knowing we are making the decision to have this surgery. Think of the times that u tried to lose weight.. How u felt when you gained it back. And the whole vicious cycle starting over again and again. I was exhausted from this insanity. I had to find hope somehow. I starting seeing a psychiatrist months before I had the surgery. So I had time to talk it over with someone who understood eating disorders. I.e. Binge eating. After the surgery..I am so much more aware of mental hunger vs physical hunger. I evaluate my feelings ,such as stress, anxiety, sadness before i take a bite that will sabotage me. And most of he time I prevail by knowing what I committèd myself to eat that day based on guidelines given by my doctor, rest when I am tired, and analyzing why I may be feeling anxious . I did mourn my best friend ..food ...about a week after surgery. Reality set in., once ii accepted the fact that this will be a new way of life for me.. I never looked back.

    almost 6months out

    Awesome. What a success. !!!!!!!!!!
  15. I was on a week's vacation and my goal was to maintain my weight. I ended up losing half a pound while vacationing at an all inclusive beach resort in the carribean. I did enjoy the food....treated myself a little with bites of Desserts and virgin piña calodas. Prior to my sleeve..I would have gained at least 5 pounds that week. Now I am ready to continue with my weight loss .. About 30 pounds left .. One thing I noticed is that I am very aware of my feeling of satisfaction when I eat.(amount I eat). once I feel a little bit full. I stop to eat. I never get that overstuffed feeling Or feeling lethargic from eating too many sweets or at mealtime,

Gaining weight back after the sleeve

Making lifestyle changes is what will bring success to long term weight loss. This is a lifetime way of eating..lifetime wish of being active..and a lifetime way with dealing with emotional eating.

    Second thoughts

Most of us are scared to have surgery..it is normal. And in my opinion ..most don't have major problems., yes there are a few who have had problems.. It is up to you if u want to go through this journey. Speak to your surgeon sbout your situation. In addition, we are all at risk of major health problems if we don't lose our excess weight...
  20. Wow what a difference in one months ..congrats,
  21. Thanks for mentioning this. I will record it.

    Tomorrow is the day!

Wishing. U a speedy recovery. The first month may be trying. But just be patient with the process of eating in stages, getting rest, and focusing on your health journey. Most people starts out very slow with drinking sufficient water and eating the protein target set for you. . So don't disappointed... It takes time...it took me 6 weeks before I was close to my protein target.

    5 months out & struggling

My sugar free Popsicles does the job for me when I am hungry for something sweet. Find something that will satisfy you and won't jeopardize your weight loss. Sugar free hard candy is also a good option. But take one or two a day. Get back to basics. Your sweet tooth will diminish .,the more u eat sweets..the more u will crave it.. So give it up entirely for a while. Wishing u great success. YOU CAN DO IT...
