Sandwiches After Weight Loss Surgery – Make Them Work for You!
Carlotta1 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Good info. Thanks for posting. Got done ideas for my lunch. I do like smoked salmon on low cal 100whole wheat bread that is toasted ..of course not too often since it is high in fat. But good fat. Also a slice of avocado. -
As long as u chew it well, u should have no prob. I love shrimp and it is a great source of protein. Had it this week. Enjoy..

1. During the 5 weeks , if I ate something that did not go well with my stomach, or did not chew enough..I actually threw up..It is not your typical throw up. Much less painful than real vomiting. 2. I would wait to eat appetizers since they r usually high in fat and carbs. If u find lean tapas or appetizer that is mostly Protein then that should be ok. I did not eat at a restaurant till 5 weeks out. I don't eat out often..I feel more comfortable knowing how much protein , calories , etc if I eat at home. 3. I love Indian food ..I have not had that yet. However..I do add red , black pepper to my cooking .. At 7.5 weeks out it does not bother me. I would be cautious the first month though with too much pepper.

Yes I agree with Magtarts. Try protein soups .. They even have broth soup with protein. Health Wise has really good soups You can make your shakes more tasty if u add diet orange soda or red soda to vanilla shakes. Use your blender with ice to have the shake the consistency of a shake.

Couple of food and timeframe questions
Carlotta1 replied to BabySheldon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 7 weeks out and can finally eat most things except for pasta. I try to eat only nutritious foods.. However, I am seeing a nutritionist on a monthly basis. She did indicate to me that. As times go by..she does want me to enjoy some snacks every once in a while..like a cookie, small piece of dessert. Etc. The all or nothing eating is what has gotten me in trouble all these years. Either I will be 100 percent compliant , if not then I would binge. She told me it's that attitude that I need to resolve. At this time I don't care to have sweets, which was my culprit..big time. Sugar and high fat desserts. Instead I have sugar free jello, sugar free chocolate pudding , Popsicle every once in a while. Of corse if u decide to have your cravings that was listed, can u control yourself to have a very small portion' every once in a while. -
Losers bench refers to "losing weight" ..which is a positive statement .. Not that the person is a "loser"

I did not need anyone post surgery.. However, my daughter checked on me the first couple of days , during the day, till my husband returned from work. You would need someone to drive u back from the hospital . If imy daughter was having surgery I would absolutely want to be there. Think of yourself lucky that u have such a caring mother. btw. My dr did not want me to be alone the first couple of days just in case. -
Great article. Makes sense. Thanks for sharing.

hiccups everytime I eat or drink anything
Carlotta1 replied to birdmadgirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes I do get hiccups.. I stop eating when I do. Cause if I take a few more bites then I feel uncomfortable. -
Use my fitnesspal to record what u eat. Every bit of it. Stick to what u were told to lose the weight. R u taking enough protein, how many calories is your target. Maybe u should try eating more calories if u r doing strenuous exercises. I read on this site that when people do increase calories by about 200 calories per day while they r doing strenuous exercise, they start to lose the weight after a stall. Why about seeking out a nutritionist with bariatric eating experience.

Bikram Yoga (aka Hot Yoga)
Carlotta1 replied to CubsWinCubsWin's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
After 5 weeks I was given the ok to do any exercise.. Be careful not to dehydrate yourself in the hot room ..also u may experience some dizziness. I still do a little when I exercise . Even though I am drinking plenty of water. Body has to get used to exercising again. -
2 weeks for me on soft foods, but I actually had to stay on it for 3 weeks cause that is all I could handle. Ideas : cottage cheese, soft canned pears, whipped potatoes, yams, sugar free pudding , oatmeal ( not too dry) . Soft smashed beans like what u can get at a mex restaurant or Taco Bell ,

Had my band removed same time as I had the sleeve.. Sleeve is so much better.

You r taking the steps on improving your health and appearance. Concentrate on that. Accept yourself as u r today. Try not to listen to your negative tapes as well as others. I know how u feel about hiding from people.. I was like that when I was younger. However, age makes u wiser and those comments are not as hurtful.. I understand your pain. Look at the future and imagine where u will be in one year from now..doesn't it look bright and hopeful. I love my sleeve. And you will love it also. Thanks for your honesty of how u feel. As u know it helps to share depressive moments.. That is the real beauty of this website., keep us posted on your journey.

Married Couple getting sleeved together?
Carlotta1 replied to MizzouFan1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
To be honest. I did not need anyone to take care of me after the surgery. I had all my food, supplies etc ready in my home before I had surgery. Since u have a small child to take care of, you may to stagger several weeks apart just in case both of you have pain and could not take care of your child, if u can have a family member stay for several days until both of u are ok. You will not be able to pick up your child since it could pose a risk . No more than 10 pounds. -
Officially on the losers bench!
Carlotta1 replied to anmiller07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats. Tums worked for me when I had gas pain. The pain was mostly in my back.. Hang in there.. It will eventually lessen . -
U r doing the elliptical machine two weeks post op.? U may be putting too much pressure on your stomach. Check with your dr before I proceed with this type of exercise. Get yourself we'll before u do too much. You need to recuperate. Just a suggestion .

Lost interest in food and it tastes different too!
Carlotta1 replied to sweetie022972's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes.. My obsession for food is mostly gone. I too start to eat and along the way with eating my 4 oz foods,.. I stop cause I am not hungry and start hiccuping . I can go many hours without feeling hungry or thinking that I need to eat. I do eat my 3 meals and two snacks to get my 800 calorie and 65 grams of protein. But enjoying it..that surely has lessened . And glad that I am that way now. -
Surgery tomorrow morning!
Carlotta1 replied to KayVon's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good luck and congrats on your weight loss thus far. -
Prior to my surgery, my nut advised me not to worry if I could not reach my protein goal the first month. Now that I am 7 weeks out , no problem. Aldo, the suggestion of using my fitness pal is great. I love this website ..it is easy to use and their food data base is more than awesome. I monitor my calorie intake and grams of protein per day. I am at present 800 cal, 65 -70 grams of protein per day It takes the guessing work out and I know for sure I am following post op protocol.
