    before And after Feb June

    i have 2 weeks till 8/9 for my short term goal of 197. I'm not sure i'm going to make it but i'm down 2 lbs since i set the goal. Something is better than nothing. My weight loss has gotten much slower and fluctuates more too. I'm a bit obsessed with the scale. I'm more concerned with gaining than how much i'm actually loosing. I have discovered it is truly a balancing act, enough protein, water, exercise, sleep, portion control and repeat. If each of these elements isn't working harmoniously in sync you can forget the lbs to come off.

    The above pics were taken just before surgery. I just took the bottom pics for my beachbody before shots June 30th. Im only 1/2 way and the difference is just amazing to me. I havent been this size since before my second child was born. My next goal is to be 197 (under 200) by August 9th. I think im going to make it. I am excited and motivated to try.

    You look really good! Congrats on your success. I have a question thou, are you still loosing? If so are you ok with that or are you happy at your current weight i.e.160?
  5. We have been doing both Rockin' Body and Hip Hop abs for the last week and its not only fun we're keeping up with it. I ordered the whole Hip Hop Abs program and it was much more affordable than the newer plans. I cant wait to get started with it. Im down 2 more lbs. I have 15 more to go till my 8/9 goal. Yippie ;)

  6. Personally I like Syntha 6 but GNC brand power taste pretty good. I was skeptical at first too about protein powder but I've come to like it.
  7. Ok so T25 was a bust. I decided we couldn't afford it and my husband decided he couldn't do it. I will say I was too sore to keep up on day 3 from doing day 1& 2. We both decided to take a step back. We are doing hip-hop abs until we get our strength up. Then we will revisit T25 or something like it. Day 1 of hip-hop abs was fun and we both had a good sweat going.

  10. I am getting excited about my progress thus far but a new thrill is on its way. I am accepting the beachbody challenge. ..T25 will be here any day now and I'm going to nail it, dig deeper and all that. Here is a horrifying visual of where I started to where I've gotten so far.
  11. Each of the programs beachbody sells offer a challenge for a tshirt, money and other prizes. I am going to submit my before and after photos to try and win the shirt and money. T25 has the best results of any program I've ever seen. Plus a friend used it and others and looks incredible. Go to their website and look at what programs they offer. Find one that gets you excited and go for it.
  12. It's not quite that remarkable. It's 66 lbs over 4 months and I stalled a time or two myself. Also I have gone up 1-2 lbs a few times as well. I think this process & surgery causes each of our bodies to respond differently. We all just need to follow doctor and nutritionist orders while also finding the things that work for us. We never need feel were giving up something we want we only need to put it in perspective. Want fried chicken eat 1 oz, want candy have 1 or 2 from a snack pack (more will cause dumping). I also have learned if I don't get my 79 g of protein in I don't lose. I got tired of the shakes early on but I've realized if I want the results I have to do se things I'm tired of. If you're not ready or able to exercise then walk. Walking is so good for us but post op it is essential. Best of luck on your journey.
  13. With the now 66 lbs lost to date, a very close friends pre-op RNY journey & another friend on a different WL journey I am newly inspired. I have learned & relearned so much about food, nutrition and exercise. I watched one of these friends go from obese to competing in the Beach body summit in Vegas last week. Personally when you actually see someone transition before your eyes it makes the reality of you doing it that much more real, at least that was how it worked for me. I did hit a little slump on my own but my pre-op friend kicked my but into gear and now im hitting the ground running. So... with all things said, my dead end job, practically useless undergrad degree (graduated in Sept 2013) I have set some new goals. 1) study to become and become a certified personal trainer (program 3-6 months), 2) change my graduate program from Psychology & Behavioral Health to Masters in Business in Administration and Marketing. The certification program i chose offers a job placement guarantee. In the short term i would learn all I could in which ever setting gets me off graveyard shift (at two jobs) and once I felt comfortable/confident we (my husband and I) could potentially own & operate our own business. The first and truly only thing that caused me to hesitate was the fact that for now I don’t have the ideal physique for a trainer. I have spoken to many people and none of them believe this will be a factor in my being a successful trainer. I will take advantage of the next few months and continue to strengthen my body so that when I do become certified i will have no reasons or excuses. I am very hopeful for the future. This new plan has me seeing things so clearly. I feel the relief of stress in my body just from having the vision of the potential of this working out. My ideal work environment would be to encourage and inspire pre-& post op WLS patients to keep up with the fitness part of the journey.

      I am so happy for you! Your plan sounds fabulous and inspirational. I'm happy for you that you have such a positive and revolutionary vision for your life. I pray I can have the same. It would be great if you could help the obese transform themselves from unhealthy to healthy. You could market yourself to weight loss surgeons & patients. I know personally I wish I could find an affordable program that could help me in my current condition. 1st of all, I'm VERY out of shape. Secondly, the weight causes pain in my lower body, especially my feet, ankles & knees. I wish there was a place who understood & could help me & offer me yoga & tai chi even though I can barely touch my toes. Good luck to you, MSJMYATES. I wish you great success.

    I just used the open enrollment period to upgrade my coverage. I was covered by this plan before but my employer didn't explain the rules for keeping it. I am sure if i needed to i could dig up 5 years worth of medical records but i am pretty sure i wont need to. the only thing i'm worried about is the 6 month diet and/or denial. I didn't put in my initial post but i also now have arthritis and have suffered from sciatica and degenerative disk/joint disease for years. I'm hoping with the documentation from those issues, my physician referral and the surgeons recommendation I can be approved without any pre-requirements. Thanks for the feedback.

    UHC PPO I am so confused about the plan requirements. Yes, gastric bypass is covered. BUT, you have to have 1) BMI 35 < with commodities, or 2) BMI +40. Now were my confusion comes in is about the 6 month diet. Has anyone gotten an approval without being required to do the diet? I'm concerned because i don't want to be put in this tug of war where i start the diet, loose weight and then the insurance (or surgeon) denies me because i no longer meet the requirements. I have been doing the yo-yo weight loss for years and it almost always comes back. Im tired of being so big. My stats are, 5'3", 282 lbs, 49.9 BMI. I have always been big/heavy and it has gotten out of control. My mother died at 47 from diabetic complications and had HBP and heart disease. My father is diabetic, hypertensive & high cholesterol. I have been treated for weight loss with pills, thyroid (post pardum) and pre-diabetes with in the 12-18 months. My consult is 11/26/13. I am so anxious about what to expect. My plan is effective January 1.
