December Surgeries!?!?!?
I'm losing it! replied to preopmano's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, well, well....I have 5 days to go until SURGERY DAY!!!! I am still on my 3 week LOW CARB diet and the scale is not moving...at all.....grrrr....I am doing all of the right things, and not getting any new movement on the scale in three mornings.....what the heck, I ask? I have THREE more days of this, then one day (Monday 16th) of the cleansing and clear liquid diet and then the big day will be here. Today I got a mani, pedi and all my waxing done! I love PERSONAL PAMPER appointments!!! I am feeling MORE anxious overall today, and yesterday was fair. I have xanax to take as needed.....my primary doc and I went over some meds and such today and he said to go ahead and take/use the xanax to relax. He knows that I am getting anxious, slightly stressed and tense in the neck and shoulders. So, I would love a good nights sleep tonight...I've been having my mental wheels spinning the minute my head hits the pillow....I am sure this is normal, right folks? Having roasted broccoli and a top siroloin steak for dinner now! Nummmmmmmmmmmmmers. -

I too use www.myfitnesspal.com daily...all day...I love it!!! -
Hi there. I have no intention to attack you and I certainly NO ONE would on this tool/link. We should all be a support to each other. I had the lap band for 7 years. I no longer have it and I am doing RYGB in 5 days. I am guessing you are "tight" with your current fill now. Perhaps that is what is making your not being able to take vitamins the issue? I am guessing you might be having issues with either the size or the texture (dryness) of the pills themselves? An option would be to go liquid or chewable/gummy. Check with your doctor on your options. I would say drink TONS OF Water even more that you might be already. If you are 200 pounds drink half your body weight in water daily, in oz....so 100 oz. You can convert that to accomodate your current weight. That water will help you in the hunger deptartment. Also, if you think you are stressed (which it sounds as though you are), try to do something to lighten your stress level. sleep, walk, talk, type on here, journal, volunteer, chew gum etc. it may be that you are just so frustrated and stressed that everything is tight and swollen inside and your band is responding that way. I hope this passes soon and you get the benefits from the band/tool that you are expecting...

Big Day Tomorrow 12-11 And I Feeling In The Dumps
I'm losing it! replied to Bobby Smith's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ummmmmmm hello. Offer that person my # and I will set them straight for you. Goodness! That is information/words that you need to let go in one ear and out the other. Do NOT consider that person or their words any form of support and good advice. You are taking care of you and this is about YOU not that person. You keep moving forward in your daily progress AND you go for surgery and let your life turn itself around, as you see fit. This is coming from a girl who is having surgery (RYGB) next week, Tuesday the 17th. I am getting more and more nervous, but I am staying on track and gonna do this. This will be the BEST GIFT I have ever given myself. You do the same.......this is your present to YOU! -

Each day I wake up, I pee, I dress down if not already in my birthday suit, I get on the scale, I take a deep breath in, I let it all out. I wait 10 seconds and just "embrace" the moment....I look down and I SMILE (most days). I am losing weight slowly and daily with my pre-surgery diet. This low carb stuff is working! I used to think it was for the birds....but that's cuz I wasn't ready to treat myself to this gift.........this gift of surgery.....a new life. 9 days to go until surgery. I have my head really in the game this time. I have done some amazing mental and behavior changes this time. It's real. I am so happy and proud. If you feel the same, take a moment to wrap your arms around yourself and hug yourself from me. If you are having a rough day, just remember that each day is a new day........if you are in search of a new start......take it.....it can happen each day, anytime of day. If you are off track, just get back ON TRACK. Don't mess up the rest of the day just because you may have fallen into the trap......step right back on the wild ride and go for it. WE CAN DO THIS!!!! -

I am on day 4 of 2 weeks of protein shakes. It is testing my resolve! I keep bouncing between excitement about the process and doubts about whether I should do it. Has anyone else felt like they were on an emotional roller coaster ? I have been feeling a bit bouncy in the mood dept. I am not doubting that I can, will, or should have my surgery...but the process is a bit different than our FREE FEEDING that many of us are used to. I was really crabby two weeks ago on the first couple of days of my pre-op diet. On day 4 I felt MUCH better. Tonight, I am truly crabving sweets. It's time for my sugar free jello. One day at a time. -

December Surgeries!?!?!?
I'm losing it! replied to preopmano's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today I "varied" from the last two weeks. I have been doing EXCELLENT on the pre-op (RYN) diet. Mine is a 20 carbs or less/day and HIGH protein focus diet. I went to lunch at Applebee's with my daughter. She wanted something on the 2 for $20 menu and so did I. So, I ordered the 7oz sirloin steak with steamed veggies (good choice, right?)....she ordered the crazy calorie and jacked up CARB x a million pasta dish with breadstick (She is 113 pounds and can handle this!). The issue was this.............the 2 for $20 comes with an appetizerto share. We chose the boneless chicken wings with OUT sauce (sauce on the side). So...........I had 4 pieces (chicken bites)............they are DEEP FRIED (I had forgotten that part when we ordered). I went ahead and ate them, chose to just go "over" today in the carbs. Ummmmmmmmmmmmm I was SICK (potty) with in about 40 mins. I swear to you............the grease just about killed me!!! This is NOT the type of food I have been eating for the past two weeks. This is NORMAL food that I USED to eat...often!!! I used to always have potty issues and now I have confirmed why I used to always get 'sick' and feel like crapola! TA-DA! I am done! I soooooooooo didn't need those few bites and they were not that good either. I totally enjoyed the med-rare 7oz sirloin steak and steamed veggies, MUCH more......I even got SUPER full. Lesson learned! Live and learn! I have 10 more days of this low carb diet, one day following that for a colon cleans and a clear liquid diet and then RYGB on TUESDAY the 17th! Yahoooooooooooooo! -

Hello. I am just two days ahead of you with surgery on the 17th. I have to tell you........the ENERGY that I have gained during this pre-op diet is incredible!!! I have always been a go-go-go girl...even at my highest of 401#. I am so cleansed feeling over all...skin, thoughts, stamina, overall energy, happiness etc...it's all there in a better way than it has been for many many years. I am getting excited for the sugery too. I know anything is possible for complications etc...but, I will trust things will go well and I will recover in no time! Good luck and healthy days ahead! -
Pre-Op Creating New Habits
I'm losing it! replied to teacherlady2133's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello! My RNY is 12/17. I am really working on my worst..ok one of my worst habits which is TV eating ? I can NOT watch TV in my living room without hitting the kitchen a few times. So I have been working on coming upstairs when it's my daughter bedtime.. doing our nightly routine but I STAY upstairs. I can work from home, watch tv, be on here..All from upstairs but I will not allow myself to go downstairs bc I know what will happen. So yes not fun and as you see I'm still awake...but I'm all so still upstairs! Lol. Hello. I read your posting. I too am having surgery (RYN) on the SAME day as you...the 17th. I am doing fine staying "out of the kitchen"...but I am on a three week prep diet of high protien, low carbs and I initially lost 7 pounds in the first 4 days...now I am backwards! I woke up two pounds heavier. What is your pre-surgery diet that is required? Also, I am in Seattle, WA area.......and you? -

Hello....it's Thanksgiving evening, almost 7 PM in the Seattle area. How did everyone do on this day? Those that are prepping for upcoming surgies, did you get thru your day okay? Did you over eat and feel miserable now? Tomorrow is a new day, regardless. I did good. I packed a salad ahead of time, I took it with all of my approved pre-diet prep foods and I added turkey and that was that. While others pigged out on pies........I had my Sugarfree Jello and whipping cream. I am proud. I am soooooooooooooooooooo hoping the scale is happy with me tomorrow. I have been doing every correct and I am NOT LOSING! I am 18 days before surgery.........and I keep this same high protien, low carb diet in place until the day before surgery, then I will switch to clear liquids all day, along with one bottle of Mag citrate....(yuk). -

Sorry to hear about your pain in the rear. U-no-it is right about fiber fiber and water water. There are a lot of sugar free fiber supplements out there. At the risk of being gross, I use the sugar free psyllium husk ones when my pain in the rear happens. I use zinc oxide ointment when the tissues are tender. Oh and speaking as one, there are guys on this forum! Bariatric surgery isn't just a lady thing! Good morning! Thank you for your feedback. First of all, I appologize for address my post to Ladies...l know better...of course there are men on this site. Sorry! Happy Thanksgiving is also the other important thing for the morning! Now, onto weightloss biz.............I am consuming SO MUCH WATER! Do you or anyone think that drinking SOBE and/or Vitamin waters (all zero calorie) are slowing me down? Wondering if any of the ingredients could be doing me some harm? They say NO ARTIFICIAL SWEETNERS and that is the one thing I was worried about. I just started FLAX OIL softgels this morning. Maybe that will help. I woke up, and did my daily morning nakid weigh in (same time of day, each day)....sitting at 295! No loss, no loss, no loss........again in two days! I am very frustrated. I just told me family that if I eat candy and crap all day, I lose weight....but if I do it the correct way (meats/veggies/low carb/lots of water),....I don't lose at all!!! What is wrong with that picture? I have decided that I am bringing my own GREENS to the family gathering today. My own ZERO CARB dressing too. I will eat my pickles (allowed with in my three week high protien/low carb diet).....I will grub on TURKEY and my own greens. I vow to NOT eat any stuffing, potatoes (mashed or sweet) and no pie! I am bringing my own Sugar free jello with 1 carb and fat free whipped cream. That is it. I have to keep on this and even if the scale doesn't move, I can say honestly I did all the right things. ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS OUT THERE FOLKS? I need help!!! Happy Gobble Gobble Gobble!!! -

Ladies! I am on my three week HIGH PROTIEN, LOW CARB diet (pre-surgery). I am one week in, tomorrow. I have lost 6 pounds....I was lower yesterday than today, for a one pound gain. I am pretty plugged up. Just had a small BM tonight, for the first time in three days. I am eating tons of meat, cheddar cheese, broccoli and kale and suger free Jello and fat free whipped cream. I have not had any crackers, Cereal, bread, fruit, grains etc...........I am following this three week prep to a T, as described by my doctor and nutirion gals. I have read up and know now all about KETOSIS. Talk about a rough day two and day three. I am over that........I feel really cleansed (body wise, not in the bowels though). I am pounding the Water, more than ever and I am consuming 120-160 oz each day!!!!!! Yes, that much water! I know that this is Fiber that I need. I am having a hard time getting it in when I am so limited on other things that I would normally eat that are high in fiber. I am also missing my NATURAL fruits so much! I am not allowed ANY fresh fruit at all during this three weeks. I am not to exceed 20 grams of carbs a day. I am keeping with it those guidelines, and I feel like I should be getting more bang for my buck...if you know what I mean. So, I am glad I FEEL great and not really hungry inbetween my high protien meals and such....but my tummy is bloated and I am not losing weight as fast I thought I would. Perhaps my body is still just adjusting to this NEW LOW CARB deal? Is my body in shock? I think so! Normally I would enjoy breads, crackers, chips, popcorn, sweets etc........no doubt, I am well aware of how I got to the weight I am! Feed back would be appreciated! Thanks! -

Hello u-no-it! I don't have to do a liquid diet, my surgeron (Swedish Weight Loss-Seattle), has us do a 3 week, HIGH PROTIEN/LOW CARB diet up until the day before surgery. On the day before, we are clear liquids with a colon cleanse (mag citrate), then surgery the next day. I am on day four of a MAJOR low carb (20 grams or less daily) diet. I have lost three pounds so far (a pound a day basically) and I can feel changes happening. My skin feels different, my spirit is different (even though day two and three have been difficult). I am learning about keytosis and how all that works. I am ready for surgery in 22 days!!! I started WW back in May....lost/gained/lost gained....about 15 pounds total. So, I am 18 down from May, but I sway up and down a lot with water/fluid/swelling. I hope that this low carb diet, keeps me dropping pounds. It's all about shrinking the liver at this point. Keep writing! -

December Surgeries!?!?!?
I'm losing it! replied to preopmano's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello to all the December surgery folks out there. I am having RYGB on Dec 17th. I saw the doc and staff for my final appt a few days ago. I am starting my high protien, low carb (under 20 mg daily) early. I don't have to start until three weeks before, which is Tuesday the 26th of next week, but I thought I'd be a big girl and get it going early. So, yesterday I did a great job of eating lots of meat and cheese and I only consumed 12 grams of carbs. As always, I pounded the zero calorie fluids. Today I made lean hamburger meat balls, with low carb cheese, garlic, salt, pepper and and egg. I made some low carb brown gravy and enjoy these for brunch. I am not a big morning eater, but I love MEAT any time of day, so I enjoyed that. I am not a fan of eggs really, so to hide that in other foods to get in extra protien is a good. I really would love to drop 20 or so in this 3+ weeks, that I have before surgery. Can I do it? I was 401 in 2006. I had the lap band. I struggled to get/keep any weight off. I was 302 at the surgeon two days ago. I am having surgery on Dec 17th (RYGB) My goal weight to start with is 180. Heck, I cannot wait to be in the 200's then out of them in the 100's, Would love to hear from any of you out there that can "relate" to me! Happy Journey to all. Kari Jo-Washington State -
