So I went to a new dr since I had so many problems with the last one. I was completely offended...he had the nerve to ask if I was wearing a weight vest or hiding bricks or anything??? really? I get people do what they feel they need to do. but I'm 5' 4-1/2" and 241, but I do carry my weight pretty good and hide it well. I'm also a FF chest size (squeezing into one). So I snapped back, are you talking about my chest? No, they're real, I've been this size since 7th grade. Mind you I was wearing a V-neck shirt and jeans. Has this happened to anyone else?

I finally talked to the patient coordinator at my doctors office. He basically told me since my bmi is 38.6 and I don't have any other issues, I won't get approved. Mind you, I have been going there since September. When I first started I had food poisoning for a week and lost about 10 lbs which put me under the 40bmi. I don't know what to do. I don't know to try to put the weight back on and go to another dr and start over or try to get Kaiser and go through them. I've been in tears for hours. I am so so mad that they have put me through all of this for what I feel like is nothing. I have missed so much work, driven 40 miles each way at least twice a month if not more, just to get told, you won't get approved.

I did my sleep study in November. I snore a lot and loud. My husband hates it. I have borderline high cholesterol. My knees kill me if I walk for too long and stairs make me cringe, all I've told them. I talked to blue shield yesterday. The final. decision will be by weeks end and they told me then I could go to another dr. I've already made an appointment for the 28th, and he's in network, so it's a 10% co pay rather than 30! I honestly think they were upset because they would submit a$13000 bill and blue shield paid $173 of it. I think they were trying to rip off the insurance. I talked to the other dr office at length and she told me she can get all the other info from the other office and use all my tests and sleep study, that all she would submit would be my weight. I wouldn't have to do the 6 month weight since at this point I am probably right at 40 bmi. So since my husbands 40th bday party is on the 27th...I am planning on eating like a pig!!!

So I've gone through the 6 month diet, my approval was sent in March 19th. Blue shield told me that it would be approved in 5 days. Well 5 days comes and goes. My dr office didn't send in all my paperwork. So now coming on a month later they still haven't. So if they don't send it in Blue Shield will make their own decision based on what they have by May 19th. And here's the kicker of all this. The dr office knows with my job I can't take any time off from June to August (I work for a beverage company) so if it gets approved right away I'd have to come right back to work. Just needed to vent today.

I have an appointment in the same building Tuesday, so I am going to go in there. I just called Blue Shield and they have still received nothing. But as soon as they do, it's only 5 days for processing. It just is so minimal. I don't know why they just don't send it over. It's just my sleep study paperwork..that I did in NOVEMBER!!!

I have blue shield and after a week they sent it back to the dr for more info...so still waiting. So frustrated.

So I got the call yesterday and they scheduled for me to meet with the surgeon on Monday. it's all becoming so real finally. I just finished my final 6th diet on the 18th, so I am surprised I get to meet him already. But this is great news and the first step on this great journey. I am so excited and nervous to meet him. Monday can't come soon enough. That NEVER comes out of my mouth!!! happy Friday all!!!

Well yesterday was my last of my 6 diet visits. So they said it should be about 5 days for them to get everything submitted, and that if I don't hear anything a week after that I should call my insurance (Blue Shield) and ask them status. So about the 1st week of April I should start harassing them. This is going to be a long 2 weeks. it's already been a long 6 months and now I am on edge over approval

I have had to do the same thing. My 6th visit is on the 18th. I've had to do the sleep study, all the fun stuff. Blue shield wants everything. Not sure how long after they submit it they will take, I know they have 45 days, but I'm hoping it'll be somewhat quick. I just want it over with before summer. My job is super busy during summer so I want to have the surgery and be back before May if I can.

I have my diet #6 on the 18th, so I am FINALLY at the light at the end of the tunnel. From the beginning the surgery center told me my max oop would be $2,000, now I checked this morning on my Blue Shield on a claim and just so happen to see that my max oop would be $20,000 since they are considered out of network!!! I'm in a panic..I don't have $20,000 for this? I was going to use my flex spend account for the $2,000 as it was. Does this seem right? I just don't want to have this surgery and get a $20,000 bill that sends me into the poor house or bankrupt.

There's none at all. That's why I went with this surgery center. I don't know weather to wait until my next appointment since it'll be my last one or what to do. I guess if they come back with 20k I can go to my primary dr and ask her for a referral. Just so frustrating. I've been looking forward to this for months.

I am at the tail end of my 6 month diet. I go for my endoscopy on the 11th, my 5th diet visit on the 18th, and then March will be my final. Everything else has been completed. Then it will just need to be submitted to the insurance for approval and then just a surgery date and pre-op. I am glad it wasn't rushed, I originally wanted the band because I had a cousin that just got it last year and lost about 80lbs in a year with it, but after looking more into it, the sleeve is more for me. So I am happy for the time waited.

Finished diet visit # 4 on Tuesday..# 5 is for Feb 18th. I can't believe this is all finally coming to an end. Or should I say a new beginning? I'm keeping my fingers crossed these next few visits go as planned and my submittal of approval goes well. I'm only planning on taking a few days off work since I'm the only one still working. Excited, nervous, scared, all of it rolled into one. And just want all of this over with and surgery APPROVED!!!

Just horrible migraines, multiple miscarriages, pcos. I have fought with blue shield for this, so I figure if they want 6 month nutritional, I'll give it to them. My last one should be March, so I am hoping to have surgery in April...praying praying praying for it anyways!!! Do you have any morbidity problems?!?

I have blue shield, and go figure I got food poisoning before my appointment and it put me at 38.7 BMI. I had to do a 6 month diet program. I am on month 4 now. it's not bad. They just tell me not to get below 35 BMI and to stay as high as possible. I did the psych, and the sleep apnea test and I have slight sleep apnea, but not enough for them to approve me. so I am just going to keep going to the monthly appointments for the next few months. it's gone by faster than I have expected.

I'm in Corona. Did my first nutritional, psych, sleep study (which I think I have sleep apnea, I have to meet with them again on my next visit on the 25th), ekg 9which I need a stress test...all on the 25th at my next nutritional.

I hope so. I had to change to a ppo, so wait for that. Then go on a 6 month "diet plan" so I finally went for my first visit in October, and my EKG on 10/25 which they tell me was "abnormal ", so I have to go have a stress test on 11/25 ( soooooo excited for that one), so I am a little nervous on that. Then my sleep study on 11/4, and this comes up. The EKG stuff has me a little on edge on what that means, especially because they won't tell you anything over the phone and your appointments are a month apart, so you sit and wait. But I guess if I have sleep apnea it's a plus on my end for getting the surgery moving a long!!

So had my sleep study done..got a call last night (at 8pm??) that at my next appointment (diet 2 of 6) that I need to meet with the sleep specialist. So after reading through the paperwork they just emailed me, I am thinking I may have sleep apnea. So I think that is a good thing since my insurance will have less of a reason to fight this. I am at 38.6 BMI, and this is a major plus for me. Anyone else go through this?
