Dr Coon Riverside, Ca
countrygrl1978 replied to countrygrl1978's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I had my surgery 7/1 and so far have lost about 70 lbs. I was pretty much your same size and height. Surgery day I was 242, so a little less. the care and appointments after have ceased as they couldn't get their books right and I only saw them 3 times, basically until I got fully on solids. But my primary does all my bloodwork and everything is great. I am at a stall now, but I think my body needs to catch up to my mind. And my hair is finally stopped falling out. -
well I told my parents..didn't go well
countrygrl1978 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I finally told my parents yesterday. My dad was very supportive, my mom, not so much. My dad was honest that he didn't know much about it, but wanted me happy again. My mom (who works in the med field) told me to try different options, jenny craig, nutri system, etc. I told her I've done it all and it doesn't work for me, that's why I have done so much over the past year to get this surgery. We left lunch on 2 different pages, but at least it's out in the open. I just wish she would understand and support me. -
I sit in a desk all day. Literally. I work for IT at a beverage co. My surgery is on the 1st, and I plan on going back on the 7th, and I have the option to work from home if needed. I know everyone recovers differently than others, just looking for some insight.

I originally was going to get the band. But after I started doing my own research, I realized the sleeve was more for you. It's all preference -

My surgery is scheduled for 7/1 also. Luckily I only have 1 week of preop, but so so not looking forward to it with all he things I have going on that week. -
I don't have an apt with the dr until the 27th and then I leave to go out of town the next am. And of course they just have me leave a message for the dr. So I'm looking for help. What kind and what vitamins should I get to be ready for 7/1? I know everyone is different, but just the basics I guess.

How soon did you return to work?
countrygrl1978 replied to countrygrl1978's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks. That's pretty much my timeline. I'm hoping!! -
BCBS had me do a 6 month supervised diet. They wouldn't take any family history in consideration. It was all on me

How soon did you return to work?
countrygrl1978 replied to countrygrl1978's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I don't have to lift anything at work thankfully. And at home I have an office with a couch I would lay on to work from my laptop. Home with cleaning I have my husband as well as a housekeeper. So I'm ok with that. I've already started freezing meals and shopping for the house for about a months worth. -
Doctor Requirements - Stuck in Approval
countrygrl1978 replied to RavensAngel's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I actually changed surgeons. I started this journey September 2013, and just got approval 6/6 and am scheduled for 7/1. the new DR got everything handled as of 4/28, that was my first visit with him. I would honestly look for a new DR. -
Congrats!!! Mine is in exactly 2 weeks from today. Good luck & hoping for a speedy recovery

countrygrl1978 replied to countrygrl1978's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgery is in exactly 2 weeks. The stupid conversation started because my dad was talking about a family beach day a few days after my surgery and if I would be able to come. So I decided now was a good as time as any. I'm 36, multiple miscarriages, massive migraines, and knee problems that make it difficult to even go to Disneyland 1/2 day. I'm the big girl with a pretty face. I'm just tired of it. There's more to me than just that. Oh well, in 2 weeks it'll all start to change. -
well I told my parents..didn't go well
countrygrl1978 replied to countrygrl1978's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks ladies. My mom and sister have both had plastics, and just aren't built like me. I am 5-4, they are both 5-9+. I told my parents I weight 232, and my mom told me that's a lie. I told her, no it isn't, but the great thing is, I wear it well I guess. She told me that was almost 100lbs overweight. Yep, I know, hence the surgery mom. But we are also 15 years apart, so it's more a sister relationship sometimes. I guess my entire life I've wanted approval, and I wish this would've been one time she was ok with something I did. But this is for me, and no one else. I don't see her that often, so she will see the results in a few months when the weight is more noticeable. -

Family NON-Support
countrygrl1978 replied to embracing skinniness's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I lived in north county for years, and it seemed like everywhere I went I got looks. Now I live about 90 minutes from there and I get worse comments and looks from family than strangers I think all women in my family have had some sort of plastic surgery except me, Im not saying its bad because I would love some myself but you're right don't bash because I don't look like you! Being in San Diego for some reason I think makes it worse to be overweight and not have plastic surgery. -
Family NON-Support
countrygrl1978 replied to embracing skinniness's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My family doesn't know. I have no intention of telling them. My mom and sister are very into appearance, and have had a lot of plastic surgery. And they bash...the easy way out. So why go through the bs. -

I'm having surgery on 7/1, and will be back 7/7. I plan on working from home 7/2 & 7/3 and through the weekend if I can. Financially I can't afford to really take much more off. -
So excited, nervous and in a OMG mode. July 1st it's official. Works out perfect, I get a long weekend and I can work from home that week if needed....22 days to go!!!

Got my surgery date!
countrygrl1978 replied to countrygrl1978's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I actually had to switch dr's. My original one was pretty much scamming my insurance and kept having me come in and billing for bs stuff. I am PPO, so when I got the bills, I knew either I wasn't there or nothing was done like stated. I started 10/31 with my 6 mo. nutritional. New dr I saw 4/28 & 5/15 so he had 2 extra visits on there), it was submitted 5/28 & approved 6/3. I called Blue Shield Thursday to talk about the last dr, and they told me. And today when I faxed over my pcp approval for the surgery, she set everything up. And said I just need 1 week of protein diet. -
