This is really hard.
Cmiller1743 replied to Ballinallthetime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As the others are telling you, you are fine, it takes time and gets better. I was the same and wondered what the hell I had done, but now I look back and smile. I know it's hard but, it was a much harder choice to get the surgery. I was sleeved in Nov last year and am down 95 lbs and take no meds and no CPAP machine. I fell great and can eat anything I want, just a lot less. I can drink Water just like I did before surgery (not after I eat, that's not going to happen) but with no Protein in my sleeve I can drink as before. I know it's hard but you have to think what life will be like in 6 months. Chuck Pre 430 lbs Current 335 lbs Goal 255 lbs -

I understand your concern, but think of the end game. The weeks on the liquid will pass and be a faint memory. I was sleeved last Nov and have never looked back. It was the best thing I have ever done. Life will go back to normal just 6 months after surgery you just fill up faster and there is no binging. I am down 95 lbs so far and my loss rate has slowed but I still want another 80 lbs, so I keep working on it. I am off all meds no more CPAP machine feel better than I have in 25 years. It was so worth the effort. You are doing the right thing to listen to your doc and nutritionist and think of the future. It is waiting for you. Start Wt 430 lbs Current 335 lbs Goal. 255 lbs -

Whats the harm?
Cmiller1743 replied to LuminousLife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello, for all the good advice that is available here, I also had a couple of glasses of wine today. I had no ill effects, but I do understand that this is not a good thing to do. One point was that the wine did not taste as good as it did in the past, perhaps that is a good thing. I know that this was a mistake and will try not to repeat. The amount of food I can eat at meal time has been painfully learned and I now manage to eat only what gets me close to full no more. I was sleeved on 11/25 and as of today I am down 79 lbs total ( 40 lb pre-op and 39 lb post) I feel great and am still glad that I made the choice to have the procedure. -
Anybody Else Cheating?
Cmiller1743 replied to MississippiQueen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 1/2 weeks post op. I stuck to the pre op liquid phase and the 2 weeks post liquid without any issues. My first few days on soft foods was a little tough, but improved quickly. I now find myself eating foods that are not soft, I just chew them till they are, I eat small amounts of what everyone else is eating? The amount I can eat is very small. I need to eat a lot slower, when I know I am full there is still some on the way down, and this is very uncomfortable. I have no problem drinking loads of water or my protein shakes. I have an appointment with my dietitian in 10 days, but after reading this thread, I am thinking that what I was seeing as progress is really cheating, and I should be a lot more carful with what I eat. I am down 40 lbs pre and 27 lbs post and am feeling great, but don't want to screw up and have any health issues from eating the wrong thing. I zero regrets in having my sleeve done, and believe that this is the start of a healthy life. -
Tonight was my first night off post op liquid. I tried refried beans and a little salsa, within 10 mins I was regretting my choice. Tight chested and belching feeling upward pressure for the next 60 minutes. I thought I was going to throw it up, but managed to keep it down. I learned a couple of things, I eat to fast and I need to reduce the portion size a little more to get started. I have been having no issues at all the last 2 weeks with water, protein shakes and plain yogurt.

Nov 2013 Sleevers Progress So Far...
Cmiller1743 replied to soonerorlater's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am now 7 days post sleeve and things are looking up. I stopped the pain meds a couple of days ago and I am feeling good even sleeping on my side and stomach. I can drink as much water as I like, I only feel it if I drink to fast like I did before the sleeve. I am not sure if that is the sleeve telling me it's full or not, but I am sure that it will make me drink and eat slower. I have no issue getting the protein in other than I am sick of it. Can't wait to start on scrambled eggs and cottage cheese next week. I am walking 2 miles a day and hope to keep increasing that. I am down 8 lbs from my pre op weight. -

Nov 2013 Sleevers Progress So Far...
Cmiller1743 replied to soonerorlater's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sleeved on the 25th, only in hospital one night. Incision pain was as expected, thank god for modern chemistry. I manage to get my waster in over the day, but it's a painful. It's been tough to get all the Protein down, but I am getting close. I tried a little tomato Soup today and it tasted great only a couple of ounces but it was so good. I gained weight in the hospital 8 lbs, I guess just from the fluids from the IV. I am now back to my pre op weight after 3 days at home. Start Wt 427 Pre Op. 383. (3 Months on supervised diet & 2 weeks liquid. Future ??? -

Surgery Is On The 27Th And I'm So Stinking Nervous!
Cmiller1743 replied to hallen651's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sleeve was done by noon today, I just just had my first walk around. Yes there is some pain and discomfort, but no more than I expected. The op took 2 hours and it took longer to get over the effects of the sedation than I would have wished. I am now sitting up checking mail and seeing what happened in the world today. -
I Did It, I Cheated... Help
Cmiller1743 replied to linda305's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know it tough to stick with the pre op diet. I was worried about my liver not shrinking and having the surgery cancelled. So I did not cheat other than a few diet caffeine free cokes. I lost 30 lbs in those 2 weeks. I was sleeved today and just had my first walk around the nurses station. So far so good. -
Surgery Is On The 27Th And I'm So Stinking Nervous!
Cmiller1743 replied to hallen651's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understand completely, as I am heading for my sleeve at 07:00 tomorrow morning. I know that it's the right thing to do, but it does make you think. I am sure it's just pre op nerves and all will be fine. I have been working on mine for 3 months (supervised diet) and the last 2 weeks on liquid. As I have read on many threads this is a life choice, and I get motivation reading how well people are doing post op and how great they feel. -

This has been the worst part of then pre op diet, glad to hear others are in the same boat. I was wondering also, if it was just me. -

I found it got better after the 4th day. I just keep thinking of the future, so I have not cheated. Today is day 12 of liquid diet, and I have dropped 18 lbs. Surgery is on Monday morning.

Help Liquid Diet For 2 Weeks...
Cmiller1743 replied to linda305's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on day 7 of liquid, it's tough but it's got to be done. As mentioned after the 3rd or 4th day it gets better. Just remember it's going to be worth it. I have found lots of motivation on these threads, and that helps me a bunch. Good luck -
Weight Loss Requirment Before Sleeve
Cmiller1743 replied to just2b's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Doc asked for 20 lbs before surgery, and the insurance required 3 months with nutritionist. I have been on pre-op liquid for a week now, surgery is set for 25th this month. Have lost additional 10 lbs this week on liquid but it's tough going.
