terriann50 started following Thanksgiving Dilema, Will ins pay for leaky port surgery?, banded?? want $50?!?!?!?!?!? and and 7 others
-
Good News In October 2008 I finally got my port replaced which took care of the leak. I wasnt getting anywhere with my previou doctor but we moved to the DFW area in Dec of 2006 and when I finally found a dr he had to jump through ins hoops but finally it worked and I got it fixed and have already lost 24 pounds since then. Just wanted to update everyone that it will get better I was getting very discouraged in the process but it turned out well.

they did tell me at my dr's office that their experience is the insurance will pay because it is a faulty device, not your fault.

Mine is leaking too. I had a port revision in November and it seemed that it was ok until I got a fill and it was too tight then when I went back to get some of the fill taken out becaue it was too tight then it started leaking. I went back and had another fill up to 1.4 and went back the next day and had it checked and was down to .8 so I am going back through the whole insurance approval thing to have my whole band replaced. My dr said it is best to just change the whole thing.

i seem to not be able to get there at the right time either

I just tried again and it was still saying it was closed. Guess it is all in the timing because I tried a couple of days ago and it said it was closed then too.

My dr's office has a support group and anyone is welcome even if you had your surgey by another dr. It is on the first Thursday of every month at Dr Speigel's office in Port Neches.

I agree with you the dinner choices at Olive Garden are very lapband friendly I used to eat the Chicken alfredo pasta but since I can no longer eat pasta I get the chicken parmigana and instead of marinara sauce I have them put alfredo sauce on it. It is very good that way. Of course sometimes getting the waiter/waitress to understand what I want is the hard part...LOL

I had a problem with Salad at first but tried again about 4 months into this thing and it has been fine ever since. I love to go eat Salad at Olive Garden it is the best salad ever...LOL

My insurance covers my fills and my dr charges $600.00 to them also. I only have to pay my $15.00 copay.

Amen to that you are correct. We do dedicate our lives to our children but there are times when we need time away to just be ourselves and there is nothing at all wrong with that! I can so relate to what you are saying.

After I had my port revision I had pretty good restriction but I could take a bite or two and it would sort of hurt but then if I waited a few minutes I could go ahead with my meal and to me was eating too much so I decided to go and get another fill. Well when I did this he moved me up to 1.6 and the rest of that day and most of the next day I couldnt hardly even swallow liquid or even saliva was uncomfortable and I was burping up acid so by the next afternoon I decided to go and get some taken out. The medical assistant went in and tried to get it and she couldnt get it out so she called the nurse in and she tried and by then she could only get like less than one cc to come back out and now I have no restriction at all. My question is has anyone experienced this? I am scared that somehow the first girl somehow punctured the tubing or something and all my saline leaked out. I am scared now because I just recently had the port revision and I dont want to have to go back in now and have something else fixed. Can anyone advise? I cant get another appt with the dr until December 20th when he is back in town.

I know how you feel I have a special child also and I get told some of the same things you are describing. My husband tells me I am only worried about myself and he tries to tell me I am neglecting my children (I also have a 17 year old). He is constantly telling me I have changed and I am not the same person he married and nothing I do seems to be the right thing in his eyes. He is my second husband and not the father of my children. My husband is disabled since he had a major heart attack 2 years ago so I work every day, I work at least 50 hours a week if not more and I was working out 5 days a week after work getting home between 6:30 and 7 every evening.(since Hurricane Rita I was working 7 days a week 12 hours a day and didnt have the time to workout anymore but am fixing to start back) Anyway reading your story just hit home alot for me. But I am trying to hang in there because I know that some of his frustrations is that he cannot work and to add more to it we cant live in our house due to the Hurricane so our stress level here lately is up 100%. Anyway I am glad you are getting out on your own and I know it will work out for you and you will be much happier. Life is too short to live miserable and i say that to my husband all the time and of course that just starts another whole discussion about how I have changed.
