Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters
ButterflyKisses replied to Evilah's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi everyone and Congratulations to everyone on their weight loss! I too was banded in July..July 26th : ) I had one fill so far (Aug 23rd) I don't fill any restriction yet but from what I read that is normal. Regardless I'm very happy and down almost 40 pounds from my start weight of 250. I went shopping today and managed to squeeze my ass in a size 16 pants! I have been walking everyday 2-3 miles and more active with my 3 kids.Nice to meet you all! My name is Lisa and I am from Minnesota : ) -
Frustrated with my (lack of) fills..
ButterflyKisses replied to Daisalana's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi laura ! LOL at your thread, you just sounded cute telling him to "FILL YOU UP" anyway, I just got my first fill on the 26th of this month and I don't feel any restriction either. One thing I have learned from starting the lap band journey is to be patient . Reading about everything on here is so helpful and a bit scary . Right now I feel like I don't have the band at all and that seems how alot were after their first fill. So for now I am just like I was any other time I lost weight. I'm hungry. I'm not giving in though because being hungry will not kill me. : ) I'm still happy and am looking forward to when I do hit the "sweet spot" hang in there!! Also, does everyone knoe how many CCs the doc put in? I guess I didn't ask. It was a very quick procedure and I did fill the tightness at the fill. Our time will come ..WE CAN DO IT!!!!! : ) : ) -
So this is what it's supposed to feel like!
ButterflyKisses replied to LapBandit's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congrats!!! I'm happy for you and jealous at the same time!! I had my first fill the 23rd of this month. I don't have any restriction at all and I always seem to be hungry. I'm doing pretty good through it though, keeping myself busy mostly. How do you know fow many CCs you get? I guess I never asked him, do they normally just tell you? Also one more question,,Since I am having no restriction do I just wait the month out before I see him again,,or give them a call? Thanks in advance to any info from anyone : ) -
How often do you weigh yourself?
ButterflyKisses replied to lizster2007's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I don't weigh myself at home at all, When I see my doctor every month they weigh me there. I go by how my clothes fit . Sounds silly but it works for me. I surely do not want to get on a scale everyday or even once a week. This way I am using the same scale all the time. Seems like almost every scale is different when you step on it. At the doctors the scale isn't moved and it's always the same one : ) -
This thread is giving me somewhat of a panic attack at the moment. I cannot imagine having that happen in public. Lord please keep this from ever happening to me PLEASE!

ButterflyKisses replied to TerriDoodle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi everyone! I just ran across this post and think it is the greatest! Who would think these things that most take for granted are milestones for us! I love it!!!I have lost almost 40 pounds so far and here are a few things that have improved for me........ ~~~Waking up every morning knowing I did not eat to much the day before ~~~ my wedding ring fits again ~~~ I smile SO MUCH througout the day it is crazy! ~~~ Fitting better in veichles ~~~ my one sister told me.."I have my sister back" ~~~ I do alot more physical activities with the kids ~~The most special things that have changed~~ ~~ When I hold my daughter, instead of her being out by my knees, I can hold her close to my chest~~ ~~ The longer hugs I get from my kids because for some reason when your arms fit around ..you feel so much closer~~ ~~ The compliments I get from my husband no matter how many times he tells me I look beautiful no matter what size I am ~~ -
rkj..it will happen, I just know it will. Keep your chin up and oh..if you ever see a first star at night ,Make a wish! It worked for me : )

Hi everyone : ) I just wanted to tell everyone not to give up your dream of being banded . I also want to say that make sure your medical records have your correct height. It sounds silly but this is very important. Those few inches make a big difference in your weight and BMI (make sure your shoes are off). My family doctor had me recorded at 5 feet 7 . I turned in my information to my banding doctor and recieved a letter back saying I do not meet the qualifactions for being banded (through insurance). I went to see my lapband doctor about self pay and he told me I don't look 5'7" and I took my shoes off and stood naturally and I was 5'4". Those 3 inches were enough to get me through and covered by the insurance co. I was border line with my BMI, and being shorter bumped me up from 38 to 41 . My insurance approved me in 2 weeks. I had my operation July 26th 2007. I go back Thursday to maybe get my first fill. My high weight when I started was between 245 - 250 . I have lost about 35 pounds so far and have about 50 to go. I was curious about how much the cost would be for us out of pocket and how much the actual surgery even costs. I got my bill 2 weeks ago,,the total for everything,,,,((drum roll)).....20,576.00 . WOW ..My surgery started at 1:30 lasted to about 2:45 and I left the hospital at 5:30 . Today I got the letter from the insurance company saying what we pay out of pocket..I'm happy to say it is only 888.73 . I am very happy things turned out like they did. I'm very lucky and my heart goes out to all of you that are struggling to get your insurance to pay. Don't give up and make sure your height is correct! By the way my insurance co is BCBS . Good Luck to all of you!!

Orange Roughy Recipe Please?
ButterflyKisses replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Bubble, Try Talipia fillets some time, they are mild tasting and excellent with just a little butter and lemon pepper sprinkled on them. 21 grams of protein per fillet. 100 calories and zero carbs. -
Hi Cerrin.. I don't know if you like fish or not but it has alot of protein in it, it's low calorie and low carb.I get fish called "Talipa Fillets" it has 21 grams of protein in one fillet. You can fry it in a pan or bake it , It's really good with some lemon pepper sprinkled on top. I buy them at Sams Club and they have a nice mild taste to them. ALso, alot of deli meats have a decent amount of protein in them. I also like cottage cheese and I sprinkle some parmesan cheese on it for a little kick.

Hi ND If your insurance provider wants you on a supervised diet , do it with your lapband doctor. They usually want you to lose some weight before the surgery and this way they can document it and submit it in with all your other information . I went about 3 months seeing him once a month just to check my blood pressure and weight and as soon as I lost about 20 lbs he submitted me in. Get any information you have from your family doctor regarding health issues and be sure the lap band doctor gets a copy . It also helps that it should have some of your previous weights on the charts. I can so relate to you, I'm a yo-yo dieter also. I can lose it but always regain with a little more.I have lost 95 lbs on my own and managed to gain that all back. I love to exercise too well I should say I love taking walks, it gets me away from the husband and kids for an hour a day! lol ,,I throw on my I-pod and walk about 3 miles or a little more. I think it's important if you can..to walk outside. There is something about the fresh air and beauty that no gym could possibly come close to! Good Luck!

Hello Nikki : ) I can promise you having second thoughts is normal. I remember the few days before my surgery ( july 26th) I would stand in front of the mirror and stare at myself from the side in the mirror..I would think to myself..I don't look THAT fat, do I really need this ? At 250 pounds I needed it!LOL..Surgery was a breeze for me, I did not have any gas pains,,and the toots I got from the gas was nothing. Just remember to walk alot after surgery, it hurts some but well worth it as far as a quick recovery. I walked every hour after surgery. I made laps around the house. My birthday is one day before your surgery so I will remember the day! I will say a prayer all goes well for you! Good Luck!!

JennyD, I have seen people talk about the shoulder pain also. If anyone can help me out here, when does this usually happen? I was banded on the 26th of July and feel great so far . How long after the operation does this usually happen and is it from the gas?
