How Does the Affordable Care Act (“Obamacare”) Affect You?
donewithdieting2 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My last reply is #26 please read that first. NOWWWWW-Today I'm finding myself scheduled for gallbladder surgery on Tuesday. With my last plan It would cost me about $500.00, I'll update when I get this bill. Linda -
Oh yeah-slowed my weight loss and took my libido in the toilet. The doctor also paired it with estrogen patch stopped that quickly, my appetite went thru the roof. Did stop my periods. I'm now menopausal. Will be coming out soon. Good Luck

Name some of the most difficult things you experienced after vsg surgery
donewithdieting2 replied to isleeveinjesus's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Bad I did the cross-addition thing. Booze is a total no-no for me. Dry for close to a year now. Good Easier to find nice stylish clothes for my job. Can eat popcorn almost every night-good Fiber and feels like I'm having something forbidden. -
Damage to Sleeve
donewithdieting2 replied to susis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just ate a brat, oh it was good. I was full at 3/4 of it. No room for the rice a roni, and steamed veggies. I'm two years out and it just depends what I'm eating but I have total restriction with solid protein. Love my sleeve. But can be frustrating at times. -
Sorry if this grosses you out

two years out and still don't trust that "just gas" feeling. You just never know. Good Luck -
Help! 2 days post op and im struggling!
donewithdieting2 replied to rayray84's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Never had heartburn till after my sleeve. Needed to take a daily PPI for 4 months after, now nothing. You can get a script or just get OTC prevacid. Just depends what I eat on how my tummy talks. Good Luck. -
Leg pain six month after surgery
donewithdieting2 replied to scollum's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ended up being dehydrated when I had leg pain. Now I'm very keen on staying hydrated. Hope this helps Linda -
Very embarrassed but question about Urinary incontinence
donewithdieting2 replied to LeighAnneF's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the tests done by a urologist. He told me I was a good candidate for the TVT tape surgery. Being a nurse did some research. I stopped drinking Diet Coke--problem solved. I'm not saying this will help you but it worked for me and no invasive surgery in my private parts. Google "causes of incontinence" to see if there is something you can change before the surgery route. Linda -
I Became A Drunk After My Gastric Sleeve Surgery
donewithdieting2 replied to YearningToBeThin's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi, Been totally alcohol free since Feb.5 2013. Every so often I think of what it would be like to have some wine. But you won't believe this I'm actually allergic to wine. No wonder I was feeling so crappy it seemed like my asthma would be constantly rearing it's head when I drank. Well found out I'm allergic to salicylates that are in foods. Wine, pickled items, most fruits, preserved meats ect. are all culprits. Since I'm limiting those foods my asthma is under control. So another good reason not to drink. Vodka and Gin have no salicylates but I'm not into hard stuff. Hope you all are doing good. Linda -
I have not been able to go to the bathroom!
donewithdieting2 replied to Ree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is what I do. I always have some ducolax tabs on hand. (Yes they are a stimulant, but they work). If I'm totally full and haven't gone for awhile and need relief I will take 4 of them and within 3 hours I'm getting cleaned out. It does take awhile but works. I learned my lesson a few times so now take miralax every other day to stay regular. This works nicer than a bottle of Mag citrate. Good Luck -
Does anyone regret this surgery?
donewithdieting2 replied to Wenniegirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 2 years out do not regret this surgery. My life has changed a lot. The other day I went for my yearly physical and was told "you're not longer obese". BMI 24. Went from a size 20 to a 10. Can pretty much eat and drink anything. Just of course with the restriction from the sleeve it is smaller portions. I have had to learn to live with my addiction tendencies. Realize when something is out of control and get it back to control quickly. Good Luck to all who are struggling or just wondering if they can make it- YOU CAN DO This. Linda -
Just feeling awful & miserable! Almost 1 month post-op
donewithdieting2 replied to segatz80's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To the above answer just stick with the roasted meat and gravy. I would skip the tators. I'm 2years plus out and can only eat a few bites of potatoes and feel like I ate a log. Go for roasted veggies. The thing is not everything will agree with everyone. Just got to take it one food at a time and take it from there. Figure what works and what doesn't. Good Luck Linda -
How Does the Affordable Care Act (“Obamacare”) Affect You?
donewithdieting2 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Lost our wonderful plan at work. It happened to be a "Cadillac" plan and it was too good, so it had to be dropped. Now we chose the catastrophic plan with high deductible and a HSA that I will fully fund. Does pick-up in full a yearly physical/labs and mammo. rather wise am very healthy ( thanks to the sleeve) and hope to stay away from needing a doctor this coming year. can't wait to see what else is in the law.--REMEMBER-they had to "pass the law to find out what's in it"--Not looking good so far. I'm becoming a gambler--gambling that my health stays good. Good Luck all Linda -
Not feeling full
donewithdieting2 replied to mikey856's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm over 2 years out and still don't eat 1 cup of anything at a time. I'm female, but I can remember being close to 6 months out and still only able to eat 4 bites of anything. The feeling of restriction was what helped me lose my weight. Hope you will get that when you start different phases. Linda -
I Became A Drunk After My Gastric Sleeve Surgery

Anyone Else Cold All The Time?
donewithdieting2 replied to TonyaMac's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Always cold. I have literally 120 cardigan sweaters in all colors. I wear them to work everyday (even in summer;d/t air conditioning), and have my old favorites I wear at home daily. Four blankets on the bed. Just invested in cuddle duds for under my short sleeve shirts. And I wear long underwear to bed. I live in Minnesota, but since I lost weight this is year round. I freeze when it's time for a shower. It's great to have lost so much fat, but that stuff was sure insulating. Linda -
I'm just eating white castle cheeseburger pie. Yummy. I made my own onion soup mix, so it's less than 3 carbs per serving. Bing "Lindas low carb recipes" she has great recipes on there. I make them all the time. Good Luck Linda (no they are not my recipes/or website) Even my hubby loves what I cook.

I'm two years out. Had extremely bad cramps in my ankles and feet , esp. at night. I went to the doctor, I thought of infection, start of arthritis, just something not right. After many tubes of blood they came back essentially negative. I figured it out myself. I was dehydrated. When I would drink at least 64oz of water/ crystal light per day I was ok, when it was less I had cramps at night. My mother who has RA told me about cramps she was having I told her to drink more Water, and it worked for her. Not to give medical advice--I would recommend getting more good Fluid daily to see if that will help. (coffee and pop are not "good fluids" to rehydrate)
