Day 7 on pre-surgery diet
Leepers replied to Its-time's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My doctor gave me a list of allowed foods along with strict guidelines about how much I could eat of each one. Did you get anything like that? I ended up really liking Low Sodium Beef Broth in that stage. It helped me feel more full. Best wishes! -
Awesome work, Fruit Loop! I felt the same way after my first fill. Especially at night. I'm wondering when my surgeon is gonna do my labs again so I can start weaning off of my Metformin too. Keep doing what you're doing!

I found some really good fitting exercise pants today at Meijers. The brand was Spalding. 2x. Yay! Used to wear 3x.

Pain and Recovery - 4 Weeks Post-Op

Bless your heart! You've really been through the wringer. I hope everything starts going well for you. And don't feel too sorry for that girl. I've taken care of plenty of patients just like her. You don't get to the point of having your kids taken and your family rejecting you if you haven't had some part in it. I hope everything goes much better for you now. Best wishes on your wieght loss! -
My first thought was that it's proabably a good idea not to tell everyone, for the exact reasons you listed. My second thought was, how sad that we feel like we have to hide this from others. I too, kept is from most people until after my surgery. Then I did tell everyone and I regret doing that too. It's hard because we want those around us to share and support our experiences, but that's not how it always ends up. You may be making the right choice. Stay positive. Until those people have walked in your shoes.....

The more I think about it, don't let it worry you too much. I think we all end up where we need to be. Maybe this is a new, forward way of thinking. It may lead to less complications with the port. If the doc can find it easier, he may not puncture something else. My doc is forward thinking in some ways, and in others, I don't feel he's practicing the newer ways of the lapband thinking. So, it may be a good thing! Best Wishes!

The incision would likely be very small. That would actually be a good place because then it wouldn't show if you wear a bathing suit or something low cut. If he's done a bunch of these, then he probably knows what he's doing.

That is kinda weird. I'm sure it will be OK. If he places kinda under the body fat where your breasts begin you probably won't be able to tell it's there. But if he places it above that, you may be able to feel it a little more. Depending on how thin you get, it could possibly show. I don't want you to be dissatisfied, I would ask him his reasoning behind that. It makes the surgery more complicated as he will have to use a tunneling tool to create a space for the port line to go through. Don't do anything until you are satisfied with all of the answers. Not all docs are created equal. Oh,and if I were you, I might insist on a low or very low profile port. That may be his plan, but I would check.

You must have been taking that new medication, Noassitol! -
I always say, this is the time to prove to yourself that you have the strength do this. Many have done it before you. Find your inner strength. I would always tell myself that hunger is just a sensation that can be ignored. Like if you jamb your toe, you just go on with your day and get over it. Same with the hunger. Usually, after the first few days, your body will adjust and the bad cravings will dissipate. Embrace the cleansing! Best wishes!

Yes, this is something you MUST do. The second and third day seem to be the hardest. If you can get past those, it does get easier. It won't be easier if you cheat, so don't. Really use this time to embrace ridding yourself of your addiction to sugar and carbs. I used the time to get myself off of those, plus caffeine too. I feel liberated now. You'll be fine, just remember it's not going to kill you. This is where you prove to yourself that you have the strength to do this. Best wishes!

Bandista, are you still using MFP? I'd love to friend you on there. My user name is lleepers (2 L's). -
KimK, can I friend you on MFP? I need more WLS buddies on there.

Yes, I love My Fitness Pal. It allows you to really confront what you're eating. I'd you want to use it just to track protein, that's great. I have become a little obsessed with calories because I really believe the calories in/ calories out rule. It's fun to see what other people are eating. If you make an account, my user name is lleepers (2 lower case L's).

nsv's and GB surgery and scale victory

See a cardiologist who specializes in Electrophysiology. Depending on how long you've been in afib, you might be able to get an afib ablation and be rid of it. Glad to hear you're feeling better. It's true. Just like with WLS. If we don't take care of ourselves, no one will do it for us. -
I'm only eight weeks out and already I can see the faces of my family members gloss over when I start to talk about my experience. I am obsessed, I know. But I have to be. It sucks but I'm going to try not speaking about it unless I'm spoken to. Thankfully the hubby has changed his diet with me and we're going to the gym. So we just talk about it together. Maybe your friends just aren't sure how to deal with your changes.

Neighbor just left cookies in my door for Valentines. I feel bad but I threw them straight in the garbage. I was gonna send them to you, but you look like you need to lose about 25 pounds. Lol!

I didn't tell anyone before the surgery because I had already heard some strong opinions about it being thrown around. After the surgery, I did tell everyone and now I wish I hadn't. I think the majority of people are truly in support of me, especially because I work in a cardiac cath lab. But it gets tedious sometimes answering so many questions. Like everyone else has said though, we can't let any of it get to us. We are making positive changes to our life and no one can keep us from it!

I buy a fat free raspberry vinaigrette that is very tasty and sweet. I bet the kids would like it.

Four NSV's in One Day
Leepers replied to HealthyNewMe's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
So inspiring. I woke up having a not so great day. I needed a reminder that all of this hard work will pay off. Keep up the good work! -
Interesting, Tom. The reason I asked is that I've noticed that pretty much all of the people who've reached their goal have incorporated some sort of exercise along with changing the way they eat. I wonder if someone could ever be truly successful if they continued to eat a fast food and high carb diet but just in smaller amounts. I suspect not.

That is awesome! And you look fabulous! Out of curiosity, did you do it with the band and diet only, or did you exercise?
