One more can of tuna or chicken and I'm gonna puke! Need lunch ideas.
morgan53 replied to TheWigster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on the heart and healthy mixed nut kick since I am now allowed to eat them! I measure out 1-2 ounces into about 5 small lock and lock bowls. There's my lunch protein For a week. I can eat them slowly thru lunch with a tiny bowl of mixed green, Panera low fat raspberry dressing and a table spoon of feta cheese, with a few grape tomatoes. I am seven months out and still can't eat much more then 2 ounces of protein per meal. I will mix up my lunch protein with deli baked turkey slices, I have come to HATE the prepackaged lunch meats..gag me! Like Eckyrich (sp.) farm.. Ewwwwwwwe! I have been feeding my barn cats that meat...too expensive to keep tossing out! -

Just have to share especially for you newbies or those thinking about having the gastric sleeve procedure. I had my six month check up, was sleeved Feb. 3, and the news was awesome!!: Lost 85lbs,,55inches gone and best news my BMI is now below 30 I am no longer considered OBESE!! I am at 173lbs and doctor said 10 lbs more and then I should be at my ideal weight! I teach and the staff was shocked at weight loss, I lost an additional. 15 lbs over the summer. lots of compliments!! So hang in there if you are starting this process and most important DONT deviate from the diet! Learn your new eating habits! I stayed with it and didn't cheat,,,,all protein and veggies...no starch at all. Good luck!

this is something you need to discuss with your bariatric doctor. he/she will be able to answer your questions and help you decide the best procedure. -
starting to get nervous
morgan53 replied to sharie24's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so glad I came across this thread! My doctor never set a goal for me, maybe he doesn't like the mindset. anyway I am almost 6 months out with an 80 lb loss. my problem is my loss has now come to a screeching halt. I am down to 180 lbs and have been there for a month. I am still tracking food intake eating 49 to 60 protein a day. I also walk 2-3 miles at least 4 times a week...but nada! I don't think it is a stall , but after reading these threads it sounds like our bodies just find a sweet spot and say enough is enough! I am okay where I am at and wearing sizes 12/14 . i feel and look good and get lots of compliments...I also don't hide any more when the camera comes out. I am just glad I am not the only one that is finding this. I am not saying this will happen to everyone. We are all different along this journey. I will be seeing my doctor in a few weeks and hoping he will be able to explain why the weight isn't moving. -
Hit a stall 3 wks out. GRRRRR!
morgan53 replied to mi75's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Just wait until you are 5-6 months out and the stalls last and lasts for weeks! Not fun! I am 6 months out with a 78 lb loss and the scales haven't moved for over three weeks! I want to hit that 80 lb loss so badly! I think my body is just starting to say WHOA..slow that loss down. I have upped my exercise and hopefully will start losing again! just 20 more pounds to hit both goal weight and 100 lb loss! I get so many compliments and shocked looks....that it's all worth it. I can't believe how physically wonderful I feel also and feeling good about my self in pictures. Don't sweat those small stalls! -
Although the majority of people on this thread have lost hair, I don't think every single person experiences this. I am like Miss Mac I have not had any hair loss either. My hairdresser, whom I see each month, also hasn't noticed any difference in my hair. I am almost 6 months out with an 80 lb. loss. I take my vitamin B12, vitamin D 5000 mg, Wellbutrin and my Opti source post bariatric vitamins twice a day that the doctor highly recommended verses over the counter regular vitamins. I also make a weight watcher shake with low fat milk every other day to get my milk in. not sure if one of those bariatric practices is what is helping, but not going to change. Good luck everyone!

I am 5 months out and doing great, except for heartburn. I use to get it maybe once a week before surgery. after surgery I didn't have it all anymore and I thought how wonderful"......well by the third month it came back with a vengeance! now I seem to get it every day after the evening meals. I take Prilosec which helps. does anyone else have this or know why I am all of a sudden experiencing the heartburn? I still eat only 2 ounces of protein, but I am suppose to be up to four ounces, which I can't eat yet. thanks for any suggestions. I go for my 6 month check up next month.

Two week loss and a loss...it can be done
morgan53 replied to morgan53's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
sorry my thread should of read "Two week VACATION.....I tried editing it but couldn't the title. -
Just got back from a two week vacation in London and couldn't wait to weigh in when I got home. I had a loss of 3 pounds! woo Hoo! I wasn't 100%faithful to my sleeve, but I didn't go crazy like I would had in the past? I would try one small bite of a goodie "once in awhile" and no more. I did go prepared with 15 snack baggies filed with one ounce of mixed nuts in each Baggie and some protein bars. these were life savers while standing in long lines and with long periods of time between meals. the nuts really filled me up. hubby and I would share meals since I filled up on just four or five bites. My biggest problem is when I get hungry, I still have that fat me problem thinking I could eat a whole plate of food!! with a 75 pound loss walking was a breeze and was able to sit comfortably in a plane seat, with legs crossed, for eight loss. Ask me if this new life style was worth it and I would answer ,YES!!!

anyone familiar with Pure Protein bars?
morgan53 replied to morgan53's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks everyone! I think I will take them on vacation. I normally get my protein from food, but when on vacation these will help to meet my protein goal each day. -
Hi all! I am going to London and Wales for a 2 week vacation with family members and 70 lb thinner. I have been trying to come up with good protein snacks/meal replacements since I am thinking there may not be too much on the menu for me to eat since I am only 4months out. I also don't want to pay for meals that I can only take a few bites of. hubby is all for splitting meals. I have decided to make snack baggies of one Ounce nuts for after noon snacks, and looking at the Pure Protein bars to take along as a breakfast or lunch meal replacement. they are low in sugar and have about 20 grams of protein and the calorie count is about 200. Has anyone had these bars and if so did you like them? if anyone has any suggestion on what to take I would appreciate any suggestions! thank you!
