  1. I felt the same way my first two weeks but i fought thru it and would drink my water which helped. I do measure faithfully each day even if I want more than then the 1.5 ounces of chicken. you will feel that full feeling once you get to purée stage like everyone . be sure to measure everyday that is important...it has been 6 weeks and I am down 40lbs. It is exciting watching all the pounds dropping off!
  2. My surgery was Feb. 3 and it was a good experience. I had some pain no too much, but I had the morpheme pump. my hubby said I didn't use it a lot. just be sure to walk, walk, walk!. go visit other gastric patients. there were three of us that day. the walking helps with the healing. the only thing I didn't like was getting awaken up throughout the night to take pills and have my blood pressure checked. overall, it has become a blur for me. good Luck and don't worry about it as it goes by so fast!

    tired lady

I felt the same way the first few weeks and by week three started to feel stronger . Now week four and feel like I am back to my old self. try doing exercises I had to push my self and I think that helped! just got past my first stall and now down 32lbs.. Sleeved February 3, and feelin awesome already !!
  4. Was wondering If anyone has a user friendly app for tracking what you eat during the day especially protein and calories. I am not a big fan of My fitness Pal as I can't seem to be able to put in the exact amount ...ex 1.5 ounces chicken. .
  5. I Am now at the purée stage of eating. I have been dreading this stage as the thought of puréed chicken, tuna or meats turns my stomach. I tried pureeing chicken and couldn't stomach it! I looked for recipes but no luck. anyone have any suggestions? I would like to stay on the liquid stage and then go into soft foods when it's time, but I know I need to introduce these foods back into my diet. The only thing I can eat is the scramble eggs. please give me suggestions!! thank you!
  6. My nut said we were not allowed to drink them after surgery because of the high sugar content. I was on them for a month before surgery and ended up throwing out 25 cartons of it. I was ticked because the bariatric center put me on them and I had to prepay. I wondered how their count could be so off! I drink the Premier very good!shakes and just got the new strawberry flavor....

    PUREE Stage.....yuck! Help!

Thanks everyone! I thought I was the only one disliking this stage! I like some of the ideas and going to the grocery store to make some of these foods! I did cheat and ate tuna w/o pureeing it. I just chewed and chewed it so well. It went down okay!
  8. help! I had my surgery Feb.3 and on full liquids . Pain wise I am doing very well with very little but I just don't have any energy! My DH took me to the store yesterday to just get out of the house and I thought I was going to pass out....not a good idea! Does it get better on the purée phase? I hope to start that phase on Thursday! I start back to work next week and hope to have more energy! I know I am not getting all my water in but Iam getting close to getting my protein in thanks to premier protein, So far pre and post op I have lost 25lbs.
  9. Thanks everyone! I just have to remind myself I went thru a traumatic surgery. Your replies do give me hope down the road I just need to take one day at a time. I am hoping when I get food that I will feel stronger on the purée stage! I was very active before surgery working out and walking a mile, now I am lucky to get 10 minutes on the treadmill I have my first post op visit on Thursday with blood work, I will be sure to ask about the b 12 shots. I am taking it in pill form. thank you everyone for your replies! !!

    Not bragging but.....

I had surgery on Monday also. my doctor had so much meds, including a morphine pump in my IV, that the pain was manageable. I knew going in there would be some pain. I was kept for three days because of a snow storm. I am home now and able to put 20minutes on my treadmill thru out the day. I haven't had any gurgling or gas pains. I guess. I am one of the lucky ones! the only time I take my pain meds is before bed and I have been having great sleeps. I haven't had to take any of the nausea meds that was sent home with me.

    starting to get cold feet

I had my surgery this past Monday...finally! I had the same thoughts about backing out and my sis did her best to talk me out of it. I am now glad I went thru it cuz I keep thinking of all my reasons why I wanted this surgery. I am sore but the only time I take pain meds is when I go to bed to get a good nights sleep..I personally don't want to become dependent on them. I would be just as happy not have to eat or drink..but I am getting down my premier shakes down! good luck!

Biggest regrets about getting the sleeve?

I am glad I found this thread because my surgery is on Monday, February. 3 And I am now a basket case. I have been so excited about this long journey and now when I read posts all the negative post all jump out at me...the vomiting, Feeling sick all the time, etc. Iam reading what I can eat in each stage and think will my life revolve around what I can and can't eat...making sure I get enuff protein in, measuring . please help!! should I just go back to weight watchers for the hundredth time and stick with it! Especially knowing what the alternative is? At least I wouldn't have to worry about what will go down safely!

    February/March 2014 sleevers

My date is this Monday, Feb.3! this has been a longgggg journey that I started last April 2013. I had to see a dietician for 6 months, see a psy and then was approved within a week in November. I had to attend 5 classes before surgery and will now have my last dr. Visit this Thursday and hospital orientation ( film to go over what to expect on day of surgery) getting real nervous and second thoughts which I know are normal feelings!
  14. maybe you have contracted the flu. when I went into the hospital for my colonoscopy everything went well until the next day. I was so sick vomiting every half hour come to find out I brought an unwanted visitor home ...the flu! I was so sick for four days...work I wasn't planning on missing.
  15. I have been on my pre op diet since dec, 30th! Only allowed 5 Opti shakes and one opti fast bar...nothing else? , no broth, no veggies no jello, na da! February. 3 rd can't get here fast enough! You do get use to that hunger feelings! good Luck!
  16. hi all, I don't post much but enjoy hearing about everyones' bariatric stories. I am presently in my second week of pre op shakes. I have two more weeks to go as my surgery is now schedule for Jan. 27. I have waited so long for this but now I am having second thoughts! after reading so many threads about the hunger returning in time and having to once again fight those demons I wonder what is going to be different from my past experiences with the many weight loss challenges I have been on? I am also reading an excellent book a member suggested, The Emotional First Aid Kit..A Practical Guide to Life after bariatric surgery, and it also has me thinking maybe I should give up on this journey and go back to trying to diet and re training my brain into using positive thoughts regarding fighting those hunger demons as suggested in the book. It is really an eye opener. did anyone else have second thoughts during their pre op phase. do I really want to worry about getting a leak or becoming sick if I eat too much! Some of my fears. I understand only I can make this decision, but would like some input. I can't believe I am questioning myself now at this late in the stage.
  17. thanks all for your input. The pre op diet is really hard and maybe it is causing all these emotional feelings!
  18. thank you so much for the words of encouragement!

    Protein Shake Pre Op Diet

I am on day two of my pre op diet..5 shakes and one protein bar. I am doing well so far but it's HARD and wonder if it's worth all that I have to go through! my date is Jan 27 sooo far away! I am just so hungry and miss the grazing
  20. Hi, I am scheduled for surgery the end of Jan. I know you are on Puréed foods for awhile post op. So I was wondering if purchasing one of those high speed blenders such as vita mix is worth the purchase? they are expensive and would hate to purchase one if they aren't really needed. love to hear everyone's opinion. Thank you!
  21. I will be starting my pre op diet soon with surgery scheduled for the end of Jan. since the post op diet will consist of purée foods can someone give advice on maybe purchasing one of those high speed blenders to purée the food .they are expensive and would hate to purchase something that's not needed. thanks!
