9 Weeks Out -- All the Little Things...
hatters replied to familyguy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
WOW it sounds like you an I are on the same page. You said that at family style dinners you would worry about how big your helpings were, I on the other hand worried about everyone else. I use to be so afraid that there wasnt going to be enough food, that i would hoard it. i actually had a small panic attack before the surgery thinking about how a 1/4 cup of food for a meal is not enough. I am also 9 weeks out and I havent been hungery (except for a few days on week 2). I wouldnt go as far and say my food addiction is gone but I havent had a panic attack over food since surgery (which did happen weekly for me). As far as clothes, I actually cringe alittle thinking how I must of looked in my clothes before surgery. I say that because I am wearing everything I did before (except I went down 1 pants size) and they still fit. I shouldnt say still fit I should say that actually fit.(haha). I currenty live 11 hours from home and I stopped flying home and starting driving. I told my family its b/c I enjoy it but the truth is I hate how I felt in those small seats and little belts and I felt alittle sorry for the poor guy next to me. But 2 wks ago I went on vacation and I had space. It felt so good. I my challenges right now are not only to eat slowly but not to drink and eat. I never thought that would be so hard but it is for me. I too havent told anyone but my mother and father and I thought it was going to be hard to hide it but like you said people are more worried about what they are putting in there mouth. -
I am just finishing up my 4th week post op and up until two days ago I haven't felt hungry at all. Now I am starving. Did anyone else wake up and their hunger is back, with a vengeance.

How did you feel a month out?

Also you can say your doctor put you on a strict diet to see if you have gluten allergies or something. -
How did you feel a month out?

I love my sister to pieces but she has got a big mouth so I don't feel telling her would be good. She would be seriously itching to tell someone. I'm trying to think of something I can possibly tell her if she starts asking questions about my eating habits. Maybe I'll tell her it's a new diet fad I found online or something. The diet being 'the newborn stage' diet. Where you start from the beginning and work your way up. --- I told my brother that I am feeling sick/stomach ache and that I am on a juicing diet. I told him it is really working I am not going to break my diet when I see him. I started my cover story before I saw him. -
TMI... But I have to know

I thought I was in the clear and one of the lucky ones until 5 day after surgery. For me the pain was pretty bad. I thought my appendix must be bursting b/c I have had gas in my life and nothing ever felt like this before. My father had hernia surgery before and he said gas pain was an problem with him too since your stomach may have weak spots from surgery. My gas was on and off over 3 days. Walking does help I also tried some crazy positions to help motivate it. For me I find the pinching/pulling of my internal stitches more painful. But with all that said it really isn’t that bad, take some of the pain killers if you get gas pain and walk around. As far as the bathroom I didn’t go to the bathroom for the first time until about 10 days after surgery. -

Nov 2013 Sleevers Progress So Far...
hatters replied to soonerorlater's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had mine on Nov 21. I am down 13 lb. from surgery and down 31lb since the 14 day pre op diet. I am having a horrible time drinking Water. Every day it feels like it’s getting easier but it's still hard. I have been drinking 32 oz. but really trying for 64. I can get about 1/2 cup of soup down in the evening. I am trying Protein shakes but I think I am only getting 30 grams at the max a day. Which is really hard for me since for the last year I have drank about two Protein Shakes day. Also all of the protein shakes that I liked before I think are horrible now. I think I am going to try those protein shot things. I made some protein sugar free pudding. Taste really really good but only can eat about 1/4 cups. Question: How long are you guys giving yourselves to eat. say an 1/2 cup of soup? -
I had the worst heartburn before surgery, so far the only time I feel it coming on is when I over eat. (Who would have thought that I can eat 2 baby spoons of soup but 3 is too much). But the gas pain. I have never felt that kind of pain before. I thought my appendix must be bursting because no way that was gas. My father (had a hernia) said it sounds like a weak spot from surgery is causing the pain. Take chewable gas x and walk walk walk and try some positions to release the gas. My gas pains lasted for 3 days and so far I haven’t felt it again and hope I never have too.
