    Help

You are not alone. Its times like these that make me the most thankful for my sleeve. I have noticed a change (mentally) since my surgery but I am reminded every now and again that I am not over my food addiction. I can count at least 5 times since I had surgery that if I didnt have the surgery I would of binged ate all of my weight lost back. Its important to use this time when we cant eat like we would like too in order to fix are food issues. Again-you are not alone
  2. Considering your height I would except a slower weight loss then most. Just stay positive and dont compare your progress to what others are doing.
  3. Its worth it. I was scared too. Surgery is scary but it is worth it.

    I feel like a liar

We live in a really weird time where people feel the need to tell everyone everything. I am not ashamed of the surgery I just don't feel the need to tell people about what I am going through when they can’t help me. That’s what you guys are for. And if in time someone you work with (that you like and care for) finds out so what. If they are your friend then they will understand and respect that decision. If they are offended then they are being selfish and who needs selfish people.

    Sick of hearing......

I use to be average size untill 7 years ago when I gain a large amount of weight. When I was smaller I always felt like overweight people would treat me negatively. Since I gained weight, overweight people i guess have excepted me as one of them and stopped with the attitude. Of course I have since been called names by "men" in their earily twenties and some pre teen girls. (What does that say about how slow men mature lol). I am 1/2 to my goal weight and recently I was in a store and the lady behind the counter (overweight woman) started to treat me poorly. I know it may not be because of my weight but its hard to explain but I feel that it was. I am not sure if any one else has experienced both side of this coin (but you soon will) but sometimes you just know when someone is treating you different b/c of your weight. Point being people, all people can be mean. And I think its great that you are standing up for others. I had a woman at work show me pictures of her daughters "this is my oldest isn't so pretty and this is my youngest she overweight but isnt my oldest just pretty" I just turned around and walked out. Later confronted I told her both of her daughters are pretty regardless of size. She then instead that she thought her ooldest more pretty not b/c of weight but b/c she was blonde. (yeah right). People are horrible.

    How did you pamper yourself?

I wanted to buy myselft new shoes for every 10 lb. Next thing I knew I lost 20, so I went out looking for 2 new pairs of shoes but could find the style I was looking for. I am glad I didnt though because the shoes I own are feeling bigger on me. I guess my feet are getting smaller, I just never new I had fat feet.
  7. I made this and it is amazing!!! I posted the link to the you tube how to video below. -I substituted 1 head of caulitflower rice instead of reagular rice but that is because I wanted to keep it low carb. -Instead of chicken I used 1 package of tofu. -Intead of the fish sause I used Dark Mushroom soy sause. -Also I couldnt find thai basil but did find fresh basil and it work out just fine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dl4NvSA3hRI It made 7 cups and each cup is about 57 calories < 1 gram of fat 7 carbs 4 protein 4 sugar 575 sodium
  8. I remember weighting myself on the fourth and I didnt lose anything, the 7th day I got back on and lost 13lb.
  9. I had a lot of food anxieties. The day before surgery I almost changed my mind b/c I was freaking out over the fact of eating 4 oz. I am 10 wks. out and that has gone away. I can’t believe it. Food really was controlling my life. I actually enjoy eating more now than before surgery. It’s hard to explain but I think with the less I eat the more I taste.

    Debating sugery

When I was 29 I starting thinking about it and at the age of 31 I just had it done. I regret not having it done years ago. As far as recovery I am 10 wks out and I can do anything I could have before the surgery including heavy weight lifting.

    spaghetti squash?

I am so excited I am making this, this weekend!!
  12. I am almost 2.5 months out. I try to stay between 700-900 calories. I have to really watch this b/c for me I can easy go over since I eat high fat/low carb . I usually stay below 15 carbs and below 5 grams of sugar a day and I get about 65 grams of Protein but I want to increase this slightly.
  13. I was wondering have you been losing inches? I was doing crossfit for about a year before I decieded to have surgery and everyone would tell me dont worry about the numbers on the scale is about inches blah blah blah, but the truth is I am a 100lb over weight lets be honest its about the numbers. I did gain a lot of muscle (which burns fat) my problem was with my over eating. After I had an intense work out I would eat a sh*t ton. I actually decieded not to go back to the gym until month 4 to give myself sometime to loss weight (plus save money). I would like to start gaining muscle again but I need to see the numbers drop. I am not saying dont go to the gym- I am just saying that you may be gaining muscle so if you dont tape yourself then you should start.

    carbs

Most days I am at 15 carbs or under. Every two weeks I allow myself to have a big carb day which is around 60 carbs. But my body has alway reacted bad to carbs/sugar. I am a sugar addict. If I start to crave sugar/carbs then I know I need to lower my daily intake.

    I could use some advice!

I am not sure if this will help but when I tried to drink cold Water after surgery it caused a lot of pain and it made my throat feel like there was something in it. Drinking warm water made it easier.
  16. My guidelines for wk 1 was just clear liquids- I think on a good day I got in 80 calories. Wk2-3 was full liquids and I just drank 1 Protein shake a day, like you are doing. I think i stayed around 400 calories until wk 5. When I started mushy foods I increase my calories to 600-800. Wk 7 when I started eating real foods I increase by calories to 600-900. Which is were I am trying to keep them until I am in my normal body weight range, that is when I am going to increase them to 900-1100.
  17. Clear: Sugar Free Gatoraid Full: 6 Star Whey Isloate Chocolate Protein mixed with water and heavy cream Mushy: Black refried beans, pineapple salsa, chipotle aioli, and goat cheese mixture. Now: Basil Fried Rice-but instead of rice I make cauliflower rice(I cut carbs/sugars). It is amazing and filling. Below is the you tube video telling you how to make it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dl4NvSA3hRI
  18. I am not a doc or nut but i would try to eat 900-1200 calories a day. Cut your sugars and carbs. Stop eating fruit way to much sugar. And stop eating your grain way to much carbs. Stick to veggies and Proteins.

    Worry over nothing?

I had the surgery 10 wks ago and I only told my mother and father. At work I drink my Protein shake so they wont question how little I eat. I recently went on a disney cruise with some of my family. My sister in law made a few comment about how little I ate but just told her I am watching what I eat. And that I am working with my doctor in order to loss weight. The person who noticed the most was the waiter. He made such a big deal out of how little I ate. And he kept asking if there was something he could get me (thinking I did not like the food). I did go out with my work crew for a retirement party and ordered the side salad. When I didnt finish it, one or two made a comment about it but I just told them it had to much dressing, no big deal. All and All I think it has been really easy keeping this from people, easier then I thought it would.
  20. 1. Water: I am not drinking enough 2.I am not getting enough Protein 3.I tried using straws but it made me sick, so I don't do that anymore 4.I am not waiting long enought after meals before I start drinking.-This also makes me sick since I started eating regular foods. I am working on this. 5.Eating to fast. I am just download the slow meal app. and it has been helping. 6. Havent started exercising yet, but I am waiting until april. Give myself some time to heal/save money. 7.I chew gum. Did not know I wasnt suppose to. But I dont chew gum often 8. Coffee! i gave it up until wk 7. I have limited my intake to 1-2 coffee drinks a wk. 9. On weekends I have noticed that I am eating little bits thoughout the day instead of having meals.

    Pre op liquid hell

Since I had the surgery 10 wks ago, I never felt like I have been on a diet. I mean I have changed my eating habits completely, its just never felt like a diet. Maybe because I have only felt hungry once or twice. So just think of the pre op DIET as your last DIET.
  22. That is awesome. Plus you look 10 years younger.
  23. Like you said time management, is key. You may have to wake up earlier to go to the gym. If you are one of those folks that can study and walk on the treadmill, I say go for it. Also pack your food. Cook and package all your weekly meals on sunday. I am not sure what your campus is like but where I went I walked 2-3 miles just getting around, so maybe you could just that part out of your work out. Or you can go harder on weekends, maybe get a personally trainner once or twice a week, just to make sure your pushing yourself. Oh and dont forget all the great excerises you can do at home if you cant go to the gym like jump rope, squats, sit ups, push up, planks, pull ups etc. Also I should note, dont beat yourself up if you cant work out one day. I know how important it is to get in those healthy life long routines but just try to do what you can. And If that is just going to the gym 3 day a wk then 6 while school is in, then just make it your goal to go 3 days a wk and stick to that.
