Packing List for Mexico VSG
hatters replied to WorldTraveler's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I went to Mexico for sugery. This is a very good list. I say you dont need the translator book/app or the knee length compression stockings. The only thing I would add is bandages and paper tape. I bought adhesives bandages and 4 months later I still have a large square scar around my drain scar. -
Everything I bought I never used. Remember you WILL be up and about so dont go over board.

How did everyone go about telling manager you're having surgery?
hatters replied to re14768's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didnt tell anyone I work with. When it came to my boss I told him that I needed to take sick leave b/c I am having surgery. I also asked for him to keep it private. He never asked what kind of surgery. If he did I was just going to say that it was personal and would ask him to respect that. -
Today I weight 189 for Easter my goal is 179

Every week is the same for me to. It just makes sense right now. Easier to track what I am eating and also I just have to cook one "family size" meal and divided it into 7. Breakfast-coffee Lunch-Protein shake Dinner-eggs and cheese with some type of veggi of the week (like roast onion pepper confit, caulflower korean rice, caulflower basil thai rice etc.) Snack- for a while there i was snacking on cheese I just was able to give this up 5 days ago by dividing my dinner into two meals. Early dinner then late dinner.

Have been drinking protein shakes for a long time and my favorite is SIx Star - Isopure Chocolate favor from walmart. Its powder form you just mix it with water (or milk i guess but to me its empty calories). one scoop is only 130 calories and 30 grams of protein. I mix it with 8oz but if you want it even thinner you can add more water.

SIgn me up! I am excited.

I started out weighing myself every day(same place same time). I was never upset if it went up a little during the week b/c the number to me that really counted was the weigh in at end of the week. I then started to go whole weeks without weighing in to eventually two weeks. This is the same time my number seemed to go up and or stall so I started to weigh myself everyday again. I am just one of those people who need to see how I am doing for accountability reasons.

maybe I'm not meant to have WLS :-(
hatters replied to re14768's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you dont want it, well that is your choice. BUT I have had a lot of problems losing wieght in my life. Lots of failed diets and I personally never thought once it was gods way of tell me to be overweight. -
I know someone who added weights to her ankles and waist before she got weighed b/c she was losing alittle weight on the 3-6 month diet they put you on.

Why didn't anyone tell me it was going to be this hard?
hatters replied to uscbree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think the reason people dont tell you how hard it is, is because they forget. Things will start tasting better, drinking and eating get easiers, the pain goes away, and all that is left is weight loss and a distant memory of surgery. Hang in there, i too thought right after surgery "what did I do". -
I need a little help. Back in January I went on a cruise and just a little off my diet. I say just a little b/c it was the last day and I thought I would treat myself. But ever since then I have slowly been "treating myself" more and more. Two week ago I traveled for work and I brought my food but once I got there I went crazy and now I am doing that thing were you get mad at yourself for making bad choices so you just continue to make bad choices. I really thought I was changing the way I view food since surgery but now that I can eat a fairly large amount I am afraid I maybe going back to my old ways. SO I want to know what do you guys tell yourself to get yourselves back on track.

Thank you for your words. Sometimes you just need someone else to say it.

Hair Loss - A Harsh Reality. Picture of Loss.
hatters replied to Madam Reverie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am not trying to one up you but that is nothing compare to what happend yesterday in my shower. I didnt really take the hair loss seriously. I have lots and lots of hair, so I thought I wouldnt even notice any loss. But it comes out in thick globs when I run my finger through. I just bought biotin yesterday but I am afraid it to late. How many mg of biotin should I take? I just hope it stops, soon. -
I had the same thing. It will go away. Its from the Anesthesia, it can cause a bad taste from all the chemicals.

Today I am 10 weeks out and I reached Onederland. I cant believe it. Thats 48 lbs. since surgery. I am so happy I had this done. Just wanted to share my good news.

Thats amazing!

I think doctors just want to give us manageable numbers. But I too am aiming for 100% excess weight off and I think I can do it. I feel that the numbers doctors give is if you just do the bare minimum.

My drain too a long time to heal. I was told to cover it will it oozed and now 3 month out I have scarring around the incision scar from adhesive. But the acutal drain incision healed the nicest. The one that looks the ugliest is the one next to my belly button (where they pull your stomach out).

Those with Acid Reflux...
hatters replied to TheWigster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have never had either of those drinks but I drink the sugar free walmart brand stuff and its doesnt cause heartburn. If I eat any thing with more then 5 carbs I feel the burn though
