Hi all...so started my pre-op diet officially this morning and am feeling GREAT...not that.i am loving the shakes lol but that it's the beginning of the end am counting down my 14 days now til surgery and I can't wait! My problem is that I am lactose intolerant and the shakes are causing me some problems in that area am going to call the NUt today to see what I can do...hoping to reduce to two shakes per day if possible to minimise my exposure to lactose and hopefully make the symptoms manageable but I will see how I go

Do you mind if I ask where you had your surgery done?

New fave workout song - Some Nights by FUN. Anyone else have a fave? I am looking to put a playlist together

It was exactly 10 business days after I submitted the paperwork. I called on day 9 and they advised me they were processing it and to call back the next day. I did, and it was all approved Was actually easy - the waiting sucked though

Hi Julie I am going through dr Silverman too and have my surgery on 3 September congrats on getting your super approved - it is such a relief isn't it! I had a great experience with WLSA sand I am sure you will too! Good luck! Cheers Lila

I start my pre=op diet on Sunday and my surgery is on the 3rd September. So I wish you all the very best and know that there are plenty of us right there with you!!

Bringing my pre-op diet forward a day to start on Sunday Will be doing my "before" photo's tomorrow (yech) but as much as I'll hate them now I will LOVE them in 12 months time lol! I'm hoping for huge changes!!!! I am a lot bigger than most of you I think so am expecting it to take about 18 months to get to my goal (my surgeon put it at 72kg but I am hoping for around the 65-70 range) so I will literally be half (less than half) of the person I am today Can't wait!!!

Hi Kelliv - glad you are home! It must be a great relief...enjoy it! Rest, be kind to yourself and soon you'll be feeling great, anticipating the wonderful changes ahead!

Thanks Shell! I am actually starting to get excited by the pre-op stuff as it means I am on the down hill run to the surgery right now I think I am looking at it going OMG it's major surgery (and it is) but it can't be worse than plastic surgery (like a nose job) and I don't worry too much about that kind of thing. And let's face it, they take a chissel to your face in that surgery lol. So there's not any point in stressing about this one!! I have to admit, I thought I'd be freaking out a little more but right now, I am just excited

This page has been a bit of a lifesaver for me: I can't believe I start my pre-op diet on Sunday. OMG It the final countdown to surgery now! So excited...wishing the time would go really quickly!! I am sure it will - it seems that the last few weeks have flown by!

Hi Scotty - all up my surgery will cost $17740 all inclusive but the "hidden" costs are the additional accommodation fee's to stay on the Coast for 10 days after surgery as the surgeon doesn't want me to go home too soon. If you budget around the $20 000 though you are probably are covered. Cheers, Lila

Good luck! Looking forward to hearing how it all goes !

It's amazing how quickly the time is going. I am three weeks out from my surgery and am feeling a little jittery I imagine I'll be quite stressed the day before although I will be travelling for 10 hours to get to the Gold Coast for the surgery...that should keep me occupied lol. Good luck for Tuesday - I look forward to hearing how you go! Cheers, Lila

Thanks Scotty - will do They were great at WLSA and I am sure you'll have a great experience! Will definitely keep updating !

OMG I can't believe how quickly the time is going! With all of the functional stuff done (running around getting all my paperwork sorted for the approvals etc), I kind of expected things to slow down a little, to catch my breath but if anything, it's worse lol. I am now three weeks away from my surgery (well, I leave on the Saturday and the surgery's on the Monday) and one week off starting my pre-op diet. I almost hesitate to say anything about the pre-op diet in this blog after reading the responses some people have posted about people voicing their concerns and fears. So this is what I will say - yes I am nervous, yes I am sure it is going to be really hard and yes I am sure that I can do it. The thing I am worried about is not giving up the food as much as exercising control without the physiological strategies in place (i.e. surgery) to do it. I am committed to this process but still worry about the pre-op diet. Please don't jump down my throat I don't think this indicates a lack of committment on my behalf, just a general worry about how hard it is going to be and how it is going to make me feel. I work long hours, have very little down time and in a profession where you have to (as much as possible) tune out whatever is going on for you and focus on others. I worry about how much harder this is going to be on the pre-op diet. I've considered taking time off pre-surgery (god knows I have the leave accrued) but want to keep the leave reserved in case I need extra time post-surgery. I am already taking three weeks off but you never know... Wow, got off topic lol. So, the upshot kiddies is that it feels that I am experiencing the effects of time dilation and am looking for the black hole - should be easy to identify huh I hope that post-surgery things slow down a little and I can take stock. Wishing you all the best out there, sleevers Cheers, Lila

My Inner Dork/nerd/geek
Lissa_S commented on tmorgan813's blog entry in A funny thing happend while I was loosing weight
LOL I LOVE your entry You sound very happy and very lucky in your choice of husband. Me and all my friends are role players, we gather together for hours on end fighting imaginary hordes and we LOVE it. I love the celebration of your inner nerd! BTW - if you're looking for good Sci-Fi from the Star Trek era, I strongly recommend Babylon 5 I much prefer it to Star Trek (although do have an ongoing love of Captain Picard hehehehe even though he's old enough to be my grandfather!!)... Viva le nerd! -
Thank you so much!! That makes sense!!

Sorry to ask such a noob question, but what does ONEDERLAND refer to? I assumed it was 100 pounds lost but given the context I've seen this appear, I think I might be wrong I am also sure that when I first started on this site, there was a post about the use of acronyms but I couldn't find it again lol. Anyhoo, I'd appreciate it if you'd edify me Thanks, Lila

Hi Scotty, My surgery is on 3 September and I am paying through early release of my super. I am going through Dr Candice Silverman at John Flynn Private Hospital on the Gold Coast. I have just been through the process of early release of super and for me, this was my best option otherwise my PHI wouldn't kick in until May next year. For me, I wasn't prepared to wait as I had another option available. That's not to say I wouldn't have waited but I actively sought another outcome. For me, I weighed up what the next 12 months means to me and it was worth pulling out my super early - I am 33 and felt if I ever wanted to have kids I had to do something soon. The process is actually fine to access your super early - you just have to ensure that your GP and surgeon both say that it's a life threatening condition and not available in the public system. The hardest thing is the wait as your paperwork is processed. But I have just received my approval and it's all systems go I am very happy! My clinic uses the early release of super quite often and they were pretty much experts on what I needed to do. So if you find a clinic that does that, then you'll be fine Good luck ! and welcome Cheers, Lila
