Thanks Kayargh I've got a ways to go yet - but at least it's coming off fairly consistently. And I now have a gym plan for the New Year - 1 day yoga, 1 day gym, 3 days home routine designed by an exercise physiologist so I don't hurt myself Or that's the theory...

Another Christmas Party tonight but I've added a photo with my new hair do/ colour. Wasn't brave enough to have my hair cut this short before Loving my sleeve. Oh and I reached my Christmas Goal weight of 125kg!! Merry Christmas to me lol

Aussiegirl - if you're worried about giving this guy the flick, maybe just consider that in doing so, you might be giving this person the chance to learn and grow. Ultimately you'll be doing yourself and him a favour by being honest - particularly if he has trouble doing so!! And you'll be amazed by how many opportunities will now come your way once you cut loose of the things keeping you tied to your past behaviour! Bring on 2013, huh???

Wishing you all the best during this tough time! -
Hello fellow sleevers, Well it's been three months since my initial surgery, a little more actually and I am finally doing pretty well. Though I was in hospital for two months with a leak, I am finally starting to feel a little normal. I am back at work (part time admittedly) and getting around to christmas parties etc. I usually love this time of the year - I am loving it a little less this year. I am not sure if it's because I was sick and the whole Christmas thing is (frankly) exhausting or if part of my love of this time of year was food related (and since that's off the books, then my enjoyment is somewhat dimmed)...but I am generally feeling pretty good. My stamina still sucks but I have an exercise program that I will start after Christmas that I am hoping will help with all of that. What news? Well, I am eating everything now - well most things lol. I am finding that many things do not suit me anymore. Carbs is one of them - bread, pasta and rice are really hard to eat so I avoid them. I hate protein shakes and powders so am focusing on consuming all of my protein through my diet. This means that I prioritise protein over everything else. Basically it's protein, veggies, fruit, dairy, carbs. It's working because as of today, I have lost 98 pounds. I have another 97 to go lol but I've lost it. It now means that my ticker will show double digits to lose rather than triple digits. It's a small milestone but it's mine, okay?? As we use the metric system here in Aus, double digits means anything under 99kg (about 218 pounds) so it will be a while before I get there. But at least my "to lose" pounds are now in the double digits, hey! I hope you are all well and enjoying your sleeves. Thank you for all your support and kind wishes during the past few months! I look forward to hearing of your successes and sharing mine along the way! Merry Christmas! Cheers, Lila

I was quite big to start with and I think that it helps promote big weight loss initially. But it has also been a lot of trial and error. I don't deny myself anything but am always thinking about the nutritional value - so for example, if I have that piece of cake will I be able to eat what I NEED to eat that day? It helps me to think like that however some days you just really want that piece of cake!! The other best advice I got was to eat regularly. Some days it can be every few hours. Today it's really hot here (I live in Australia), so I haven't really eaten all day just drinking all the time. It's a balance. I think that I am coping better with this the longer I have the sleeve. When I first started it freaked me out. Now I realise I need to listen to my body. If it needs fluids, I give it fluids. It'll let me know soon enough when it needs food! Best of luck to you on your journey!!

Hi Aussie girl - wow Watching your story was amazing. I was so similar in terms of my starting weight and you look simply incredible. Thank you so much for sharing!

Congrats Sleever84 = 10kg in two weeks is amazing. Pity about the dumping though - hope you're feeling better today

Hi Aussielady - I struggle with knowing when I am full. I often go a little too far and end up lying on the couch for 30 minutes until that feeling goes away. I find that carbs are really hard to eat, including rice. Generally I try to avoid it, having Protein first and everything else secondary to getting that in. Fruit is great (when you can have it) particularly when it's hot like it is today. If I am not feeling great on waking (which sometimes I am not), I will have yoghurt for brekky instead of Cereal which I am finding to be a great alternative. When you can manage it fish is great too, particularly when you're going out places. I can eat a little more fish than a denser protein like beef or chicken. So it looks like you've eaten more I've noticed that the slower I eat, the more aware I am of the full feeling and the less likely I am to push it. So that's probably the best advice I have - to try to eat as slow as you can Good luck!!

Went to a restaurant for a Christmas dinner tonight - had two prawns and two pieces of meat plus a piece of zuccini. Totally full I LOVE my sleeve!!!
-
Thanks Sue And I know what you mean...so much Christmas temptation out there!! It's very hard not to partake but at least we now have the sleeve so we can't really overindulge! That's what I love about it - nothing really is taboo anymore. Except for all the stuff the sleeve won't tolerate lol

Oh and I lost another two kilo's this week Down to 126!! Only a kg to go before my Christmas goal!!
-
Hello So like many of you, I have Christmas Party Palooza over the next three days. Back to back dinners. Tonight it's Thai, tomorrow it is a BBQ and Saturday it's another restaurant. Wish me luck Cool that I will only be able to eat a little though!!!

It's so awesome guy's to hear of your improving health. I didn't have any diagnosed complications before the surgery but I notice that my sleep and breathing is so much better than before!! Minor things but it makes a huge difference to my quality of life!!
-
Band, sleeve, bypass - makes no difference to me Of course you're welcome here!!
-
I do the same thing - I have to stop talking about it though I think I am getting a little boring on the subject. It just seems so amazing to me now. For example, I used to eat two or three of those frozen spaghetti bolognaise meals in a sitting (and would still be hungry). Today, I got one for my seven year old and looked at it thinking, there is no way I could eat even a quarter of that!! Holy crap!!! It's incomprehensible to me how much I used to eat just a few months ago!! And because it is all so new, I feel my friends and family watching me to see how much I am eating...which makes it worse cause then I get nervous and can't really eat which looks to them like I am eating less than I really do (and then I get the lectures on needing to eat more - never heard that before in my LIFE lol). It's a weird new world out there post-sleeve

NSV this morning I fitted into my size M BeMe shirt that my mother optimistically bought for me about 12 months ago. It even has satin trim on it - that's a non-stretch material lol And it fits great!!! What an awesome way to start my Monday!!!! Hope you're all having similarly good days!
-
Congrats Shell! Hope all is well with your family!!

Good question, puppyphat! I never do resolutions, cause in the past it's always been about my weight. This year (thanks to my sleeve), I think my resolution will to be overweight (rather than super obese, which is where I started). Looking at the BMI chart, I've already gone from super obese, to morbidly obese to severely obese! And I am about 0.2 off moving into the obese range! Not bad for 3 months Anyway, if I can just be overweight that'd be great.

Congrats Sue - what an achievement and let's face it, in a short amount of time!! How awesome to be in your healthy weight range! Well done!!

Hello fellow sleevers. I am now three months out since all of my surgeries, both planned and emergency following my leak. When I was discharged from hospital at the end of October, the leak test had showed the leak had healed but I was always worried that something would happen and it would come back. I had my three month consult with my surgeon today and she said that given my overall improving health, fitness, weight loss etc that she is convinced the leak is totally healed and best of all, she has NEVER heard of someone getting another leak, particularly after three months. Which is the greatest!! It has given me such a confidence boost, and just what I needed!!! The thought of getting sick again and going back to hospital really bothered me. Now, I feel like I am going to be right and my Dr's confirmed it for me. I am just so damn happy! Oh, and I lost another two kilos this week. Now I am in the clear I can start exercising, so I am going to start heading to the gym soon! I hope it will help tone up and let the weight loss continue. Not that losing weight's been an issue so far, but after 40+kg (about 90 pounds so far), I figure it's going to slow down or even stop soon...just seems to be what other's experience. Thanks again to all of those who have supported me and who have sent kind messages on this blog. I really appreciate it!! Cheers, Lila

Great news - just had my three month check in with Dr Silverman (surgeon) and she has cleared me She has never heard of a leak coming back after this long so basically I am in the clear!!! No more leak or risk of leak. That part is over!!! Oh and I lost another 2 kg this week!! I am now 42kg down from my heaviest weight and am offically in the 120's!! The greatest news ever!!!
-
Sorry to hear that Mimz...I really hope you get this sorted out soon and start to feel a heck of a lot better!!

Thanks guy's I am having a better day today with food - I never eat much but at least I was able to eat a little today, Which is more than I've done for the past five days I even went to a Christmas lunch and had a (very) little of chicken. Going to weigh myself at work tomorrow (see previous posts about scales that LIE lol) and am hoping to definitely be down in the 120's...will let you know!!
