Dr. Le doesn't require any length of time before surgery. It just depends how long it takes you to complete all the tests, classes, evals, etc. My insurance required 3 month weight management. He is an amazing surgeon. You can tell he is up to date on the newer surgical practices. For example he does the leak test in surgery before he sews you up vs after the surgery like most surgeons. He sleeved me on Nov. 6 2013. I'm down 37lbs so far.

I was just sleeved on Nov 6th by Dr. Hamilton Le. His program is great! I don't have a single complaint. 2 of my coworkers were sleeved at the same time by another surgeon in Norman and our experiences were very different. I honestly would recommend Dr. Le to anyone. Your in good hands. I'm only 29 but surgery was very easy for me. I changed into my clothes as soon as I got into my room from recovery. I got to go home the day after surgery. Very little pain or nausea. The worst part was feeling so weak for the first week and a half. I'm down 34lbs & have 44lbs to go. Good luck!

Freaked out by a stumble and I need to pull myself back up

I'm 7 weeks out and I ate stuff I shouldn't have also. We had Christmas for the last 5 days somewhere. I too feel guilty but the thought of all those people telling me not to do the surgery and the thought of hearing I told you so was enough to get me back in gear again. I don't want to be the center of gossip. Tomorrow is a new day. No more crap in my stomach. -
I just died laughing in a waiting room! People were looking at me like I was crazy!

I had a living will drawn up and put on file. Nobody else had to sign but a witness and pastoral care. It just says my husband will make decisions and I don't want any heroic measures taken should my condition be irreversible. You wouldn't have to tell your husband about it. However I told my husband but I made it clear I would not ever want to be kept on a ventilator or be bedridden in a nursing home. I'm only 28 but I'm an ICU nurse and I frequently see people kept alive when they shouldn't be. There are worse things then dying in my opinion.

November buddies where are you?

How's everyone's progress so far. I was sleeved nov 6th and down 26lbs so far. That is including my preop diet. I'm having a hard time getting in enough fluid. I only get in about 43oz a day and that is if I include my protein shake. Also I worry I'm not getting enough calories. My day consists of a protein shake, a protein bar, and maybe a few bites of chicken or refried beans. I'm meeting my protein goal but that is only because of the protein shake and bar. Nothing tastes good. I'll make something to eat but then just can't stand to eat it. I know not meeting my daily goals is preventing me from losing faster but I keep trying. -
I'm not nearly as up to speed as the rest of you on obamacare or politics but I do work in healthcare. So far I have seen major effects on people with Medicare. They now refuse to cover outpatient infusions for people that have congestive heart failure. These people come in weekly and it would cost them $4000 oop. They can't afford it so now they will have to come into the hospital when they get really sick but ultimately it is a death sentence much sooner than the diagnosis. Next they are after outpatient chemo. It's scary!! Eventually if you are on Medicare and get sick you can kiss your ass goodbye.

Rate Of Weight Loss, Those Starting Under 200 Lb?
tddonnell67 replied to NothingUpMySleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 5 weeks post op and am down 26lbs. This includes the 8lbs I lost on my pre op diet. I'm kind of bummed I haven't lost more but I keep reminding myself that I have less to loose. Hw-208 sw-200 cw-182 GW-130. I'm 5'2". I don't exercise consistently yet either. I try but some life circumstances prevent that currently. Really having a hard time getting enough fluids in. I don't count my protein shakes though. -
Things ive learned, the funny but not so funny!

I've learned to really take my time to eat and to not be distracted while eating. If I don't, I eat too fast or too big of bites and it all comes back up. -
I only had a bmi of 35 when I started the process. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea and high cholesterol during preop testing and my insurance covered my surgery.
