    Craving junk food?

Or video tape. I'm not a fan of selfies. I think I'd like seeing video even less.

I thought this was a good thing

There is nothing "easy" about wls. They will realize that when they have wls and will have to "eat their words" on the days they cannot tolerate food.

    Vitamin Question For Veterans

When, if ever can I start taking Vitamins in pill form instead of chewables? Prior to the RNY six months ago I started taking Kirkland (Costco) Daily Multi Pack and I'd like to go back to taking them again if/when I can.
  7. I'm wearing mine on a chain around my neck until I can get it sized.

    Constant stomach pains..

I don't know about all states or ERs but here where I live the ER cannot turn you away. My sister had to be seen in the ER and had no insurance. Upon receiving the bill she called to set up payment arrangements. Because she is lie income she could only afford small payments of $10 a month. The woman in the billing department asked her a few questions about her income, sent her a form to be filled out and upon verifying her savings (or lack thereof) and checking account waived her bill. Don't let the lack of insurance keep you from getting the medical attention you need.

Feeling guilty for living in Florida...

I live in California and I don't feel guilty. I have lived in Chicago Illinois and Lynchburg Virginia so I know what cold is. I have many friends and family who live in the mid-west and on the east coast. I love teasing them by posting our warm California weather on Facebook. They tell me I'm a brat for doing so and I agree! LOL

    What ya eating tonight?

I love making my own homemade sauce. Even before I had wls I would eat a bowl of sauce as if it were soup.

    How about some NSVs!?!?

I'm down 5 sizes in 7 months. When I'm shopping for my new size, I look at it and think there is no way it's going to fit. Then I try it on and do the happy dance!

    What ya eating tonight?

I make an easy "garbanzo bean salad" my Armenian Step-Dad taught me. Just take two cans of garbanzo beans, drain and rinse. Mash them with a fork. Add some finely chopped onion. I prefer a sweet purple onion or sweet Vidalia. Add salt and pepper to taste and lots of fresh lemon juice. Garnish with a few cherry or grape tomatoes and some black olives. Add a little sprig of parsley for presentation if serving to guests. Serve cold. My mom likes to add a little olive oil to hers but I just like the lemon juice. And I like a lot if it. Oh so yummy!

    What ya eating tonight?

Ingredients: 2lbs ground beef or ground turkey 1 cup white or brown rice (optional) 1 cabbage head 1/2 cup chopped onion 2 cans diced tomatoes 1 can tomato sauce salt, pepper, season to taste Bring large pot of water to boil. Core the center of the cabbage and place the entire head of cabbage in the pot of boiling water. Using two forks gently pull apart the cabbage leaves. Remove each leaf out of the pot as soon as it is separated. You don't want the leaves to cook in the boiling water. Mix together the hamburger or turkey, rice, onion, seasoning. Take each cabbage leaf, place the hamburger on the leaf, roll and place in a deep casserole dish. I use my deep.lasagne casserole. Layer the tomato sauce and diced tomatoes on top of the cabbage rolls. I also chop up the remaining leaves and put that on top. Sometimes I will add some green beans on top too. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Sprinkle a little Parmesan on it if you like. Sometimes I hollow out bell peppers, zucchini (large diameter) or tomatoes and stuff those too. Another option is to cook in the crockpot but you have to be careful not to over cook because it can become mushy. Hope you and yours enjoy it as much as my family does.
  16. For the past week my blood sugar has been high upon waking up in the AM. It ranges between 107 and 133. As soon as I eat and take my morning meds it lowers to normal levels. During the rest of the day my numbers are perfect. This happened back in October so my PCP tok me off insulin altogether and cut my oral meds in half. I can't get in to see her until the end of February and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions what I might do in the meantime. I tried eating a high protein snack before bed. I also skipped my meds last night which helped a little (107 this morning). I'm so frustrated. I'm almost 7 months out and hoping to get off all diabetic meds eventually.

    High Blood Sugar AM

I have heard/read about the dawn phenomenon. I was just concerned because my morning blood glucose was on the high side after being normal for a good while. However, the past three days they have ranged between 83-90. I don't know why my bs was high for a week or so. I'm happy that I've been waking up with good numbers and hope it stays that way. I did have a problem with my blood sugar dropping to 52 yesterday afternoon. That was not fun!

Should have specified steak friendly band

I loved steak but now it's hard for me to tolerate. If I do eat it, I can only eat the tender, medium - rare part. My dog is loving it when I can't eat my meat. I have to be careful though. I don't want her to be the fattest member of the family. lol

Costs more for life insurance now that I am healthier - why?!

I'm curious to find out this coming September when they have open enrollment for the school district where my husband works. We took out a life insurance policy when my husband went to work for the school district over ten years ago. We could not take one out on me because of my weight. Now that i qualify in my weight we planned on seeing if we could take out a policy for me. We shall see!

    Taking photos of food

I take photos of food, before and after wls. I post many of them on Facebook. I love to cook and I love to feed my family and friends. The only difference post surgery is I have made very few desserts. I just don't need the temptation.

6 1/2 years post-op and strange hair problems

I'm only 7 months out and boy do I get a craving for sweets sometimes. I find that eating fresh fruit helps with the cravings. I also treat myself once a week to a sugar free fudgcicle or sugar free pudding cup. One of my faves pre surgery was a Granny Smith apple dipped in caramel. Now I put a smudge of raw honey on an apple slice. So good and curbs that sweet tooth.

    Which medicine to take tonight?

I have a broken foot and sometimes I'm in a lot of pain at night. I was prescribed 5-325 Vicodin to take as needed. My bariatric doctor said it was no problem for me to take it.
