Emotional Eaters.....How are you coping?
MissNya posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 6 months out from my surgery and realizing that i miss my friend, my comforter....food! I know that I have always been an emotional eater and now that it is nearly impossible for me to turn to food for comfort, I am really strugging emotionally. My PCP has prescribed me and anti-depressant, even though Im not depressed. I have really bad anxiety and it helps with that. Has anyone else found that they are struggling with handling emotions post-surgery??? How are you coping? -

Mourning Food - Post Op
MissNya replied to SlowlybutSurely's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In my first few months post-op i was seriously mourning food. It seemed like i would be on soft foods FOREVER! I could not wait to taste something with flavor. The funny thing is when I was able to eat more solid foods, I would try different things that I thought I liked. Turns out my sleeve DOES NOT like those things!!! My tastes have changed so much. The thought of fried food makes me queasy and if I were to break down and eat a hot wing in a moment of weakness, I would defintely pay for it because my sleeve does not like grease!! I guess its a blessing in disguise because I physically can not eat the things I shouldnt be eating anyway. Ironically, I really like the soft foods that I couldnt wait to be done with! I tend to eat a lot of oatmeal, yogurt, cottage cheese, Soup, string cheese, fruit. I still have trouble with a lot of veggies so I dont eat many of those. I drink my Protein shakes and Water, take my Vitamins, iI eat what I like and what I can tolerate and I feel pretty satisfied. -
I had the same problem, horrible spasms right after surgery and for a few months following. My Dr. prescibed Reglan for me. It helped a lot. It will go away after awhile. I am now 6months out and only have the spasms every now and then, hardly ever really. My issue is and has always been acid reflux. It wont go away. I take Prilosec everyday, if i miss even one day I have the wost heartburn. My keeps saying it will go away but 6 months later i still have horrible acid reflux. Does anyone else have this problem???

Anyone regret WLS and why?
MissNya replied to Scorpion11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 17 weeks out from my surgery and I can pretty much eat anything I want but most things I dont eat because I dont like how I feel when I eat them. I guess if I have any regrets about the surgery it would be that I miss EATING! I miss my love of food and enjoying my meal. However i dont miss all the horrible side effects of loving food. I dont ever really feel hungry anymore, I eat because I know I need to eat. And when I do feel hungry, I eat about 4 bites of something and im done. I know it sounds crazy but Sometimes I really miss eating a big meal! I eat a lot of Soup now because its filling but it doesnt leave me feeling stuffed. I dont like the way chicken and beef leaves me feeling stuffed, so I eat mostly fish and seafood now. I guess the sleeve sort of turned me into a vegetarian.....except I dont eat most veggies either....so maybe a seafood-atarian haha! I guess if I had to weigh the pros and cons, the pros defintely out wiegh the cons. Yes i miss food sometimes but the fact that im 4 pants sizes down in 17 weeks is amazing and I would have this surgery again in a second!
