Type 1 Diabetics And Sleeve
TheNewSusie replied to st2011's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey there, here I am, lol. I have been a type one diabetic for 15 years, I got sleeved July 7 by Dr. Alvarez in Mexico. A great experience. Im down 34 pounds since preop and very happy! I went from taking 60 units of novolin N and R per day to 5-7 units a day, sometimes every other day. Now you probably will be a slow loser because we don't produce enough insulin, and u do need insulin to burn everything u eat. I may be wrong be ause every body is different , but slow losing is better than fast IMO. You feel better and take less meds which is great. I'm off my cholesterol and lisonopropil . Any questions just ask, -
Thanks six, I hope so

I don't miss anything! I'm also pretty creative with my culinary skills so I always find a healthier substitution lol

Search flat out pizza, it's great! Tastes like pizza to me, I also make pizza with Canadian bacon as my bread, pizza sauce, mozzarella and low fat pepperoni, so good!

600-800 a day, I work 6-7 days in a restaurant, try to workout 3-4 times a week, drink 8-12 cups water a day. No more than 30-40 carbs and fats a day, I try to stay between 20-30 of each. In a stall now, but lost 32 in two months.

Yum! Sounds delish, thanks!

Iced coffee recipe: Take 4 ounces coffee grinds to 2 1/2 cups cold Water , soak grinds 12-15 hours and refrigerate for up to a week. Strain the coffee grinds with a cheesecloth or strainer and napkin into a pitcher. Then for a Meal Replacement a take one cup skim milk, one cup iced coffee, my liquid stevia in vanilla or chocolate flavor and my Protein powder and pour it over ice . It's so yummy and so much cheaper than buying coffee each day

Sugar Free Hard Candy After Sleeve?
TheNewSusie replied to SleeveShelly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Crystal light is made from artificial sweeteners and contains aspartame, IMO it's like having soda without the carbonation. I talked to my doctor and he said I shouldn't be using artificial anymore once I got to solid foods. It was ok during the liquid stages but now I should be drinking Water and unsweetened tea, I am allowed stevia since its all natural. You can google artificial sweeteners and it gets into more detail. -

What Was Your Weightloss At Around The Three Month Check Up?
TheNewSusie replied to TamaraS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not sure, I hope so -
So I was searching for ways to flavor my water since I gave up on my crystal light and mio because they r really horrible for you. This stuff sounds great and can't wait to order it. U flavor yr water with it or whatever u r drinking and it's all natural because it's made with stevia. No chemicals or bad stuff. Yay! Just thought I'd share

I've had type one diabetes since the age of 15, so I'm used to the sugar free as opposed to real sugar.

Aspartame and sucralose are horrible for you. These things get blocked in ur liver and are really bad for you. I've been doing research after my brother who went into sports and medicine told me a few things.
-
Like most of us, I drink crystal light for flavor but I've been doing research and I found that it can stall weight loss because of the aspartame and artificial sweeteners. I'm officially in a stall and while trying to break my stall I wondered if this was part of the reason. I know all the chemicals get blocked in your liver and that makes it hard for ur liver to function and so called cleanse out. Anybody have any other opinions? This got me worried because plain water I don't mind but there r times I need something else.

Sugar Free Hard Candy After Sleeve?
TheNewSusie replied to SleeveShelly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use stevia for sweetener, it's all natural. I have vanilla and chocolate and original for my shakes and I'm going to order the stevia drinks also. I stopped the crystal light because it is so bad for u and can stall weightloss. Totally different than hard candy but I wanted to add that in there because hard candy even if it's sugar free really is worst for u because of the sugar alcohols and carbs, and everything else lol. -
So I made my homemade granola for my yogurt because I really don't like the tanginness. I added cinnamon and Splenda to my yogurt then I made my granola, here's my recipe: 3 1/2 cups rolled oats 1 1/2 tbs ground cinnamon 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1/2 cup SF vanilla syrup 1/2 cup SF almond syrup 2 cups slithered almonds Mix it all together and place on a sprayed baking sheet and baked at 325 until golden brown and crunchy. Tastes so so good.
