Going to Mx is not a problem, sort of a day trip. Go down, pay the $35 shop some , come home. You know Montana is a big state like Texas and you sometimes have to travel to get a deal. It's a nice drive and will give me time with my son. Mamadiggs

I'm newly banded but my stylist told me that a lack of protien will also make your hair bail out. You should always be aware of the protien you take in. On the up side we loose 200 to 350 hairs a day, if your hair is short you may not notice it but if you have long hair it looks like your loosing more than you really are. If you feel hair loss is out of hand see your doc it may be due to something else. Mamadiggs

Mine is the inamed 9.5. My son got the same size and he's (was) 450 punds. Doc says he has the best results with this size. Mamadiggs

I didn't have one. Doc said I'd only be out for about 25 min. Getting in and out to pee wasn't an issure either...I had to get moving anyway and it really helps ramp up recovery. Mamadiggs

That's really great. However, will you really need 3 fills? What if you don't, will he refund the differance? Mamadiggs

I feel like I'm being stabed in the shoulder some times it takes my breath away. I did have a very good sleep last night with little discomfort and this morning it does seem to be better. My mail box is about a quarter mile away, might be just a little to far today. I live in the country and my driveway is 300 feet long, that might be more do-able. I'm also sure a good shower and head scrubbing will help me A LOT!! Our bodies are pretty stupid, back pain can also mean heart attack or a bad appendix or almost anything. My husband had many instances of what the doc thought was a heart attack, then GERD it turned out he had a bad gall bladder. So there ya go. Thanks again ladies, I do appreciate the help. Mamadiggs

Hi Guys, I just got back from Mexico and Dr. Jose Rodriguez did my surgery in Acuna, Mx. The total cost was $7300. There is a $500 non-refundable deposit. I drove to San Antonio, parked my car in Dr. Rods schedulers drive way and she (Barbara) drove us to Del Rio where we spent the night and had our last meal in Acuna. The next morning she drove us to the hospital, paid the final pmt of $6800, had the surgery, spent the night and then Barb drove us back to a hotel in San Antonio where we spent the night. The next morning we headed out for home stopping every 2.5 hours for a walk about and pit stop. The care at this small 10 bed hospital was outstanding. Their aim is that you never have any pain or a chance of infection. Although the english is very limited the care is by far superior to anything I've had state side. It is remarkably clean, the staff is very warm and caring. When my son went down two weeks ago Dr. Rod picked us up from the hotel and handed me his cell phone in case I needed to call anyone. Any body know of another doc who would do that?? I would recommend Dr Rod to anyone, he doesn't have that I'm a God thing going on. He wants you to be happy with your band and no surprises afterwards. You can check it out at joseband.com . Thanks, Mamadiggs

Hi, Wow, this surgery thing is not at all what I expected! I've had a c-section and hyst. but no where near this much discomfort. I got to thinking about it last night and I think that my other surgeries were not done with a scope. Therefore no gas was pumped into the body cavity. With the first two a great roaring belch got rid of the gas, but this is really hanging on and the shoulder pain is no fun. Does anyone have any suggestions? The incesions look great and I feel ok except for the gas. Thanks, Mamadiggs

Hi, I had my banding done on Monday 4-25-05. I got home this afternoon after a loooong six hour drive, stopping every 2.5 hours to sip and potty. I too, am very sore with a butt load (no pun intended!) of gas. ;-O) The proceedure was uneventful, except I told the nurses who ask me to squooch over to the gurney in my finest Spanish to "Shut Up". In Spanish it sounded like squooch. The I told Dr. Rod how much I loved him!! Lord, you can educate them but can't take a Bandster anywhere!! At least not when they are toasted. I can't say I love my band just yet, it still hurts to much, may be by Friday. I'm pooped, thanks to all for your support and kindness. It will get better, it will get better, it will get better. No snow boarding thought..hell, I live in Texas no place here to snow anything. Nite, nite, Mamadiggs

Just got back with my son from Mexico. What a great experience, the doc himself picked us up from the hotel and drove us to the hospital. He gave me his cell phone incase I wanted to call anyone at home. Do you know of ANY doctor who would do that?? The hospital was only 10 beds but immaculately clean. The two nurse staff were kind and very diligent about monitoring pain. I'm going back on Sunday for surgery on Monday. I'm a surg. tech if I even had a thought that it wasn't the place to go believe I wouldn't have turned my child over to them. Good luck in your search and in getting healthy. Mamadiggs

Thanks. No my son thinks he can do it on his own and may be he can, but being a girlie-girl I need the support of others. You know guys can just sit around and grunt at each other but girls like to actually talk about what's going on. That way we know we're not alone in this. One way or the other someone is having or has had the experience you're now going thru. and will share their thoughts. That's nice and I like it that way. But he's a tough guy Yea, right! NOT!!!! So he's sucking it up and doing the best he can. A group could make it so much easier for him, but, I'm just the mom. I'll keep you posted, thanks for the thoughts, Mamadiggs

Hi, I'm really new to this site. I've learned alot from the Ol' Timers..LOL. My son had his surgery last Friday and came thru with flying colors. I was really afraid, he's such a weenie but was a real rock during the entire thing. He's not your usual bandster, he's 7 ft tall and weighed 450 so the hospital bed was a small issue for him. His feet hung over the end but he managed to keep from sliding out. The doctor and staff were wonderful. We went to Mexico to Dr. Rod who is a saint. His staff doesn't speak alot of english but we did manage to get thru to them if he was hurting or had some nausea. These girls work their butt off for $15 a day. The hospital is immaculate and everyone was very caring. I'm going back on Sunday for surgery on Monday. I'm a little nervous but really excieted to get this done. I once thought that food was my best friend, but I've learned who needs friends like that. My friend betrayed me settling on my hips, fanny and tumtum. It became an addiction. I'd say like a monkey on my back but I would have eaten that too! Didn't mean to go on. I hope everyone who has this surgery does even half as well as my son cuz then you'll do great! Best wishes, Mamadiggs:glasses

If you spend .50 for a small mouth pint mason jar you can chuck it all but the blender base. Promise it really works better than anything I've ever used. Make your shake, drink it out of the jar if you want. When your finished fill it about one third full of warm water and put it back on the base for a quick whiz and it's clean!! If you don't finish all the drink get a ring and seal for the jar and put it in the fridge for later. Because of the small capasity you can put ice chips in it and your drink becomes a milk shake. Try it out, all you have to loose is a fifty cent jar. Mamadiggs

Hi, I'm new here and was reading about the magic bullett. I have something that is so cheap and you most likely already have one. It's your blender! Find a pint size narrow mouth Mason jar. Take the blade portion off your blender and it should fit over the Mason jar opening. I put in my liquid, then ice and then protien powder give it a whiz and off we go. Cheap, easy clean up and if your a country girl like me you can just sip out of the jar. Since I do a lot of canning I have a lot of jars! CAUTION!!! Before you go zipping it up on the blender, screw the blade on to the jar and manually see if the blade will turn without smacking the inside of the jar. It's never happened to me but sure as I tell someone about this they'll have Mason jar all over the kitchen! Good luck Mamadiggs

I got the Whey Of Life mix, the chocolate truffel is to die for. I put it in a small mason jar with about 6 oz of milk then attach my blender blade and whip the tar out of it. I have also mixed the chocolate with cold coffee and ice cubes MochaLoca!! If you are patient and add enough cubes the chocolate blast tastes like a malt. Yummmmmie!! Mamadiggs

Hi, I live in Hawkins and I'm having my surgery on April 25, my son is having his on April 15. My son has a friend who had this done 2 years ago and lost 250 pounds! I have spoken to several people who've had it done and they are all doing well. I'm going to Mexico because I don't have insurance and the doctor is the one who did the surgery on my sons friend. He comes highly recommended. Do you know of a support group in our area? I called Trinity Mother Francis hospital and they gave me a phone number but it was NIS. She said it was the only one she had. Oh, Well. Mamadiggs
