Day 2 Really Bad Heartburn
juliacleone replied to amusgrave's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take six pills a day too. It is no problem. I started the day after surgery. What I want to know is if the heart burn is going to stop. I am on my third week of 40 mg per morning of prilosec. It works great I just wonder if I will have to do it forever. What have others experienced? -
Here I Go Again Lapband To Sleeve
juliacleone replied to clos121165's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am almost 4 weeks out from revision. My incisions are almost healed. I haven't slimmed or gotten stuck even one time. I am already eating pretty normally. There is a very light feeling of pressure when I have had enough. I am definitely not hungry after I eat. I went to a dessert reception the other night and I just didn't want any. That is a first for me. I am so glad to have the band out. It felt like a time bomb ready to give me a problem. The last time I went for a fill it was 300.00. I do not miss that! I felt weak the week after surgery but I was thinking to day. I cannot remember feeling this well in a very long time. I am so glad I did this. I do feel sorry for my husband. He has paid for a lap band, a sleeve for my daughter (she has lost 100 lbs since last July) and a sleeve for me. He is a very kind man that wants what we want! Good luck to everyone...it is awesome! -
You do not want any food in your stomach when they cut into it. That would probably cause problems.

I keep seeing that term used, Boogie (sp?). What is it?

I don't know quite how it hapened. We had two separate suitcases. I did n't know till the next morning that I was going to recovery house. But If you told your guest to make sure your suitcase went where you go, that would probably work. Good luck. I am 9 days out and even my stiches look good!

I had surgery on the 9th. I had requested the hotel with my friend. I had a revision, they sent her to the hotel and me to the recovery house. It was OK but my friend did not see me for 2 days and she was beginning to wonder. I swapped to the hotel after one night in the recovery house. My surgery was a 11 PM Mexican time, they took her to the hotel at 9:00 a couple of hours before I had surgery. that was fine but they sent all my clothes, toothbrush, comfy clothes, all of it with my friend. I had no idea what room my friend was in so...we were glad to see each other. I am glad I got to stay at the recovery house for a little while. I loved the hotel and I was comfortable by then. Communication is not great so you just have to be flexible and have a since of humor. You can easily walk to shopping from the hotel. Stay on the main roads, don't so side streets and know they drive very crazy!!!

How Are Those Of You That Are Post-Sleeve?
juliacleone replied to NJsharon's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had a revision to sleeve on May 9th in Tijuana. I woke up the a Nasal Gastric tube in my nose that I had to keep for 24 hours. it was irritating not to mention very unsightly!!! After that came out I have been doing great. My surgery was at 1 am Alabama time, 11 PM in mexico on a Wednesday, Thurdsay I read and napped, Friday I rested, Saturday I walked to the shopping area in Tijuana and did my gift shopping for my family. I got my husband chocolate tequila! I really felt good. Saturday we crossed the border at 1:00, rested and read in San Diego and flew out the next morning. I have taken 3 pain pills since the last shot they gave me on Friday before they took the IV out. I stayed home on Monday (just because I have a bunch of sick time). I have just done great and I am 56 years old. My lap band is gone yeah!!!!! I eat a few bites and I am full yeah!!!! I have lost 12 pounds in 11 days. Life is good! -
Feeding Tube With Revision
juliacleone replied to joyceob21's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I just got back from Mexico, Dr. Almanza. I had a nasal gastric tube for about 24 hours,. The other revision people did also. After 24 hours they removed it and it was good to get rid of it but it wasn't just awful. I have only had 3 pain pills since I got my last shot into my IV for pain. I went to work today and stayed 5 hours, could have stayed longer but I have so much sick leave I might as well use it! -
Anyone Freak Out After Surgery
juliacleone replied to southerngirl's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I took my daughter to Tiajuana last July. When they walked her back up stairs after surgery, she was crying and I thought: What was I thinking!! I took my only child to a strip mall in Tiajuana and had 80% of her stomach removed!.......I am leaving tomorrow to do the same thing! -

Band To Sleeve In Single Surgery?
juliacleone replied to ChaChaBurch's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am having my revision on the 9th in Mexico. I love all the posts on this site. I just know that this is what I need to do. I am so tired of throwing up. I am excited and I can't wait. I went to Mexico to have the lap band done and it was great. I took my daughter last July and she got the sleeve. She has lost 100 lbs. I am so happy for her. I have been so scared I would have an emergency with my band and end up owing 40,000.00 to the hospital. Now I and just days away from being able to stop that worrying. Dr. Almanza was great with my daughter, I am using him also. One of my best friends is going with me. I am so ready. Thank you all for posting. It has helped me know that I am doing the best thing. -
He must feel more confident in his ability to do the by-pass. Run don't walk to another doctor!

Starting The Process, Want This Thing Gone!
juliacleone replied to hrtgoeson's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am so ready to get the band off. I was banded Sept. of 2007. I lost about 60 pounds. I have regained about 15. I have always struggled with throwing up. Sometimes more than others. I have hidden how much trouble I have had from my friends and family. I will be relieved of this band on May 7th in Mexico. I can't wait. I have been so afraid that I would have an emergency and it would not be covered by insurance because I went to Mexico. I was terrified that I would end up owing a bunch of money to the hospital. So I can't wait! I hope all goes well.
