    November surgeries?

Oh man I totally hear you on the smells! I'm not hungry or have any desire to eat but today I went shopping and felt like I could suddenly smell all the restaurants around me, it was torture! I used to plan eating out into my day of shopping and now I plan my shopping/errands around my protein shakes while carrying my bottle of water. Went to see Hunger games Friday night and the smell of popcorn was torture as I sipped my water

I'm 2 weeks out and sill on liquids. Just started full liquids though. What kinds of food are they allowing you just 3 days out?

    Cramping

The pain is typically on your left side where your stomach is. Right side sounds like gall bladder so you should probably ask your surgeon or nurse. Hope you feel better!

    November surgeries?

Left side pain is very normal as that's where most of the work was done. Your incision is probably larger there too. I'm 2 weeks post op and still sore on the left side. Hope you feel better!

  7. Has my bypass on 11/5, spent two nights in the hospital and went home on a Thursday. The first couple of days home were hard but manageable. I was able to get up and wall every couple hours and even ran a few errands with my husband. I work from home so spent Monday and Tuesday working at my desk and felt ok...in moderate pain but stayed on top of it. Wednesday was my first post-op with my doc and things went downhill fast. At the doc I got very dizzy and nauseated. Barium swallow test went well. PA said I was slightly dehydrated so I was told to stay on clear liquids and come back in a week. Thursday I woke up in agony. Pain level 10 and it just got worse and worse. No urine all day so called my insurance RN and doctor office and was told to go to ER. Pain is in left side only and feels like I'm being stabbed every time I move. They did a CT with contrast and it didn't show anything abnormal. Blood tests came back showing normal levels of everything but potassium. Gave me a bag of fluids to help with the dehydration and some IV pain meds that helped a lot. Sent me home and here I am in the same pain. Hydrocodone doesn't even touch the pain. I can't sit up so I'm not taking in enough liquids. Down 28 lbs since surgery a week and a half a go. Is it normal to start to feel ok and then the pain get worse? Anyone else? Any pain management tips?

    November surgeries?

Hello! I had my rny on 11/5 and it's been a rough road. 2 nights in the hospital and I did not feel ready to come home but I did. I started to feel ok...pain, but manageable. This past Thursday (one week 2 days post op) I found myself back in the hospital with dehydration and the worst pain I've ever felt. I could walk or sit upright. I was miserable but after some pain meds and a bag of fluids I'm home and feeling soooo much better! I was actually able to run some errands today. Still not taking in enough fluids though. My doc still has me on Clear Liquids, no Protein but tonight I tried muscle milk bc for the first time I actually felt a little hungry. It tasted delish but made me nauseated. I just can't tolerate Water without it making me feel sick. Gatorade g2 with less sugar, or broth is about all I can handle at this point. HW: 291 SW: 275 Post op: 288 CW (11/17): 262
  9. Thank you! I'm happy to say that the pain has dulled down quite a bit since Thursday!! I did increase my fluids by taking in more broth, Popsicles and Gatorade (g2 with less sugar). I've found that water makes me nauseated too quickly while the rest I can tolerate easily. So I'll stick with what I can handle to keep the fluids in. The fluids sure helped with the constipation which I'd like to believe helped with that horrible pain. For the first time, I coughed without feeling like I had been shot in the side. Thank you all!
  10. What type of medication did you use for the constipation. I have only has 2 BMs since the surgery and very small. I can move around a lot better today thankfully. I resorted to Gatorade yesterday even though it's on my "no" list but at this point I want electrolytes and fluid and the calories don't concern me.
  11. Apologies for the typos...on a new phone :/

    November surgeries?

My doc had me do stress test and sleep study while waiting on insurance, then as soon as they approved, they scheduled the surgery, EKG, blood work, EGD, ultrasound of gall bladder, etc all at once (not same dates of course, but I got a bunch of dates all at once). Good luck!

    I'm scheduled for bypass 11/5!
  14. Are you still in need? My surgery isn't until 11/5 but I work from home now and no longer need my size 22/24 professional clothes. I have a few brand new outfits too that I will never wear now.
