Will it hinder any of the process if you lose alot in the months leading up to surgery? I am 344 and could probably lose 45-50 pounds in the next 3-4 months if I tried really really hard. Should I work on "crash" dieting and lose that much?

I guess the main problem is I will not be able to have an appointment with the bariatric clinic until January when my insurance changes, but via phone advice they want me to see my PCP monthly starting now so that I can be ahead in January when i see them -

4 years ago, before I had a child, I lost 80 pounds in 5 months with diet and exercise. Then I gained it all back plus some. Over the past 3 years I have been losing 40 and gaining 50 off and on. I am so happy that I wil have a tool to help me. One of the biggest reasons for my "giving up" in previous attempts is that I am so tired of being hungry day after day. I dont even remeber what full feels like. I will be so happy to not be hungry -
Has anyone ever done this?

I cannot go to the bariatric clinic until Jan 2014 when my new insurance kicks in. BUT are there pre ops appointemtns I can go to now that will help when I go to the clinic? Should I schedule an appointment for a physical with my PCP should I ask for bloodwork? Should I schedule an appt with a gyn (havent been to one in years)? Or should I just wait until January and start then? -
4.5 months post op and down 110 pounds :)

Terry, i was about to get worried but you bright me hope. I'm a single Mom with no help. my daughter is 3. So the day i come home from the hospital it'll be me and her. I'm nervous about that -
I have to choose my insurance now but it didn't start until January so i can't see the doctor until January
