Anyone own a chevy spark or honda fit?

I wanted a Spark and test drove one, but it just didn't feel sturdy to me. I went up a size and tried the Sonic hatchback and absolutely love it. Of all the cars I've ever owned, the Sonic is my favorite by far.
  2. Kindle, I agree! And it seems to be working pretty well. Just over 4 months and I've lost 83 pounds and my husband has lost 80.
  3. I'm right there with you. Ever since I started solid food, my goal (from my surgeon) has been 800 to 1000 calories per day. There have been a few days that I didn't quite make it high enough, but 99% of the time I did.

    When to change clothing sizes?

I think I was right around 45 to 50 pounds before I got rid of the bigger stuff and started wearing the smaller stuff. I too stocked up ahead of time at goodwill, Salvation Army, etc. I still have a way to go before I start buying new for myself, but my husband has gotten close enough to his goal weight that we actually spent some serious money on new clothes for him this month. He's down from a 3xl shirt and 44 to 46 waist pants to a m/l shirt and 32 waist pants!
  5. Wow. Some people are seriously over-entitled assholes, aren't they? I check every day to see if you've updated, and if I had ever noticed that you were online without updating, my only thought would have been "well, he's online, so he must be alive, praise Jesus!"
  6. Praying for both of you. Maybe the silver lining to your illness is the fact that the two of you have grown closer and are better prepared to handle her situation.

    what is the pain like?

For me, gallbladder (7 years ago) was way worse. After sleeve surgery, I didn't really have much pain at all and what I did have was mostly just the gas pain. My incisions were very slightly tender, but not really painful. I couldn't even tell you which incision was the one they removed the stomach through because none of them really hurt. And I had no deep abdominal pain at all. I was one of those who wondered if the surgeon actually did anything because my stomach never hurt. Still never has. Realistically, I know he did because I can't eat much, but as far as bring able to feel it? Nope, not a bit.

    It's the $*%$^%$ INTERNET!

@@wannaBthinsoon, if you're gonna flounce in 6 inch heels, please at least make sure you can walk in them first. I hate going somewhere and seeing young(ish) women wearing sky-high heels and having to take little baby steps or hold on to someone else's arm because they can't walk in their shoes. I want to go up to them and ask if they really think walking like a toddler is sexy, lol.
  10. Mine was when I bought a pair of jeans on clearance thinking they'd fit in a few months. Turns out they were already almost too big. And on another note, you're just too stinkin cute for words.

    I give up

@@nmsugirl06, I notice you said it was bcbs of texas, so are you in Texas? My husband and I are, and our insurance covers WLS, but there are so many exclusions and special requirements that it might as well not. We ended up going to Dallas Bariatric Center, and had surgery with Dr. Nirmal Jayaseelan. We both had hiatal hernias so he billed our insurance for the hernia surgery and we paid out of pocket for him to do the sleeve at the same time. Total out of pocket was around $5,000 each. Not as good as it could have been with decent insurance, but MUCH better than the $18,000 each it would have cost us by using the bariatrics coverage that our insurance offers.

    I give up

@@onmywaytoonederland, there's nothing to appeal. It wasn't a decision to not cover it for her, the policy specifically excludes coverage.
  13. My husband and I were both sleeves on 9/11/14. We eat between 800 and 1000 calories, 80 to 100 grams protein, and 40 to 60 grams carbs each day. Part of that is a premier protein every day, which gives us 30 grams to start the day. We also try to always eat a dannon light and fit greek yogurt every day, which is another 12 grams of protein. So far he's lost 73 pounds and I've lost 77. He's only got another 20 pounds or so until he reaches his goal. I've got another 103 to go.

    Comparison: VSG to C section?

Never had a c-section, just hysterectomy, gall bladder, and a surgery on a nerve in my hip. The VSG, for me, was by far the easiest. I've honestly had more pain from stubbing a toe. I had some gas pain and it was uncomfortable getting up from lying down, but no serious pain at all.

Yes I feel better....no Im not always "happier"

I also struggle with depression. I take two meds daily for it, and those are the only meds I still take after surgery. It drives me nuts that people equate depression with just being sad. Like when someone says things like "oh, I broke my iPhone, I'm so depressed!" No, you're sad, not depressed. Depression is a medical condition like diabetes or high blood pressure. Right before they wheeled me into the operating room for surgery, I was going over a list of my meds with the NP at the hospital. She heard which depression drugs I'm on and told me I "must" talk to the doc to change my scripts to something else because one of the meds causes weight gain and makes it more difficult to lose weight. I explained that I know that, but I've been medicated for depression for almost 25 years. I've tried more drug combos than I care to think about, and I'm finally on a combo that allows me to function relatively normally. I think I'll stick with what works. She told me that it was my choice, but that I was making it needlessly harder on myself. SMH
  16. My NUT told me it's a meal replacement but it also counts towards my fluid goal. I have a premier protein for breakfast around 7, then a snack around 10, lunch around 1, snack around 4, dinner around 7, then snack before bed.

Abuse of wls..when it's not needed

@@BitterSweet, that may be how it comes across to you but I think it's pretty obvious that it comes across differently to some others.

Abuse of wls..when it's not needed

What do I think of the doctors who are doing this? I think they are in a heck of a lot better position to judge their patients needs than you are. I think as fat people we get judged enough for being fat and we darn sure don't need to be judged by you for not being fat enough.

    where do you live?

    Wichita Falls, Texas
  20. You'll feel the restriction when you get to more solid foods. I know it's hard to believe that when you don't feel it at all right now, but it will happen.

    I made it!

Welcome, loser! It's great to be on this side of the operating table.

    Hi everyone!

It was just diet. I wasn't in good enough shape to exercise. The Protein shakes we used (my husband had the same surgery on the same day) was, and still is, Premier Protein. You can buy it at costco, Sam's, WalMart. I love the chocolate and still drink at least one a day. For pre-op, our surgeon had us do 3 or 4 Protein Shakes per day and all the Clear liquids we wanted.
  23. imsoglad56

    Hi everyone!

Welcome! I lost 11 pounds on my 7 day pre-op liquid diet so I think 15 pounds in 12 days is totally do-able.
  24. I felt the same way as you. I could drink 3 or 4 ounces in just a couple of minutes from the day of surgery. As time passed, I was scared to death that there was something wrong with my sleeve and I would still be able to eat a lot. Fast forward a couple of weeks and I ate some refried Beans. The serving size was about 6 ounces and I didn't even make it halfway through before I felt so full I thought I was gonna pop. It hurt, but I was thrilled to feel it! I'm over 3 months out now and still cannot eat the whole 6 ounces of refried beans at one sitting.
  25. imsoglad56

    Protein shakes:(

I'm another premier protein fan. You can get them at Walmart, Sam's, and Costco I know, and I would bet other places have them too. I loooove the chocolate, tolerate the vanilla, and loathe the strawberry.
