Anyone buy Premier Protein at Sam's Club?
imsoglad56 replied to MrsRoboto's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I get 12 packs at Sam's for $18.98 regular price. When they're on sale, it's usually around $3 less. I stock up. -
When did you start to feel hunger?
imsoglad56 replied to marbelvsg's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 7.5 months out and still haven't felt any hunger. Not that I'm complaining! -
214 today.

Not me. One of the reasons why I had surgery was so I didn't have to even think about any of those scammy garbage lose-weight-quick! products. No more raspberry extract, green tea, AM300, Plexus, BodyByVi, etc., etc., etc... Never again.

Gastric Sleeve Surgery only $4199!
imsoglad56 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
It's something we're actively working on. It's tough to find quality plastic surgeons in MX. We're working on it and we'll make an announcement once something is in place. Sweet! You just became my new best friend! -
Gastric Sleeve Surgery only $4199!
imsoglad56 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
@@Alex Brecher, is there any possibility of BariatricPal having a similar program with plastic surgeons in MX? It's something I'm intending to do in the future and in addition to cost savings, I know I'd feel better about leaving the country for surgery if it was with a surgeon that BariatricPal was affiliated with. -
Found it! Thanks so much.

That's lovely, @Kindle. I'm sorry for your loss but glad that you've reached a point where you can celebrate him.

Tips for beginners
imsoglad56 replied to jackiemc1987's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are not advising anyone to do what you have learned? Bull, that's exactly what you did. Also, saying someone sounds ignorant isn't name calling. It's a statement of opinion. You did, and still do, sound ignorant. And where, pray tell, are you doing all your research on "Gastric Slevectomy"? -
Would you post a link to one of hers? I would like to check it out but I'm really bad at finding things on youtube and I'm afraid I'll get the wrong one.

My only sleeve-related regret is that I waited so long to have it done. I'm not at goal yet, but I'm loving life more than I ever have before.

Sleeping/soiling Question
imsoglad56 replied to pinkbunies's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This seems pretty rude and uncalled for. The op has been a member for a while now, why would you even say something like this? -
Start 215, goal 199.

I'm Having a Breakdown
imsoglad56 replied to BackSpin81's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Tanika81, I don't know anything about what kind of support system you have, but if you think it would help to have someone to talk to, just let me know and I'll send you my phone number. I'm happy to talk with anyone who needs a shoulder to lean (or cry) on. I'm incredibly blessed in that my husband was sleeved the same day as me, so we can totally support one another. However, I know that not everyone has that. -
I'm in! Like several others, this will be my first challenge. My goal will be 199. Thanks!

Are you taking the Carafate and the Prilosec at the same time? Carafate can cause problems with absorption of other meds, particularly PPI drugs like Prilosec. The way you describe feeling is pretty much how I feel if I go without my PPI for 2 or more days.

I'm Having a Breakdown
imsoglad56 replied to BackSpin81's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One of the things I read before surgery that I thought might be a bunch of hooey was that as we start to lose fat fast, like right after surgery, it causes a hormone surge. Apparently this is because the hormones are stored in fat and as we burn the fat, the hormones sort of flood the body. I thought it was BS, but less than a week after surgery, I started breaking out in HORRIBLE acne like I hadn't seen since my teens. I imagine that's part of what is happening with you. It doesn't make it any easier, but just try to hold on knowing that it will get better. You will do wonderful. Hugs. -
I met my husband in 2006 after I had lost 110 pounds on Slim-Fast. We met on a dating website after he messaged me right after I had set up my profile. I didn't even have a picture up yet but he thought what I'd written was interesting and wanted to get to know me without even knowing what I looked like. After we'd been seeing each other for a while and it became apparent that we were going to be intimate, I told him about my weight loss and that I had a lot of excess skin and sagging going on. His only response was to tell me that he admired me for having lost the weight in the first place. Fast forward a few years and we've both put on significant weight and developed the usual health issues, so we both had sleeve surgery and are doing well. I can't imagine having to go back into the dating world at this stage of my life, and I hope I never have to!

Interesting, but when it comes to word meanings, I think I'll stick with what the dictionary says. All the dictionaries I've checked agree with Merriam-Webster. This is one of the words we argue over (in fun) at work, along with regardless/irregardless, sneaked/snuck, and drink/drank/drunk.

Yesterday was 5 months since my VSG and as of this morning I've lost exactly 90 pounds! Only 90 more to reach my goal weight of 140. I'm so happy and so grateful for this tool. I'm starting to think I may actually make it to goal. Before After

Per Merriam-Webster dictionary: NAUSEOUS adjective nau·seous \ˈnȯ-shəs, ˈnȯ-zē-əs\ : feeling like you are about to vomit : causing you to feel like you are going to vomit : causing disgust Full Definition of NAUSEOUS1: causing nausea or disgust : nauseating 2: affected with nausea or disgust — nau·seous·ly adverb — nau·seous·ness noun See nauseous defined for English-language learners See nauseous defined for kids Usage Discussion of NAUSEOUSThose who insist that nauseous can properly be used only in sense 1 and that in sense 2 it is an error for nauseated are mistaken. Current evidence shows these facts: nauseous is most frequently used to mean physically affected with nausea, usually after a linking verb such as feel or become; figurative use is quite a bit less frequent. Use of nauseous in sense 1 is much more often figurative than literal, and this use appears to be losing ground to nauseating. Nauseated is used more widely than nauseous in sense 2. Examples of NAUSEOUSThe smell of gasoline makes me nauseous. I began to feel nauseous.

Awesome! Dr. Jay is the best. I'm 102 pounds down now and my husband is down 97 pounds and below his goal, working on reaching his stretch goal. Dr. Jay has such a light touch, the surgery was incredibly easy to recover from. Love him and his staff!

Hospital or Surgical Center
imsoglad56 replied to IcanMakeit's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I would choose the surgical center. I hate staying in hospitals, though. Every surgery I've ever had, including my sleeve surgery, was done outpatient so I didn't have to spend the night in a hospital. The one exception was my hysterectomy, but I was out by 9:30 the next morning. -
Is this dumping syndrome?
imsoglad56 replied to Hertsukfem31's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That way pretty much the norm for me after surgery until I moved from all liquid to soft foods. Sorry.
