    Outpatient

I've lost 128 pounds so far and my husband has lost 100 pounds and is at goal. We were both outpatient. In at 7:30 am, out by 5:30 pm. The doc's not going to recommend outpatient if he doesn't think it's safe, it's his reputation on the line.

    Hospital stay

From check-in to check-out, I was only there about 10 hours. It was awesome to be able to go home that night. I hate trying to sleep anywhere but home.

    Smooth greek yogurt?

Love love love Dannon Light and Fit Greek. I eat one everyday and they have so many flavors.

    Frothing

Yeah, for me it was popsicles. I still shudder a bit every time I eat one and if I rush, it happens again.
  5. So you ask about stalls wanting conversation, shared experiences, and reassurance; a poster gives you a link to a thread about stalls where there's conversation, experience sharing, and reassurance; so you get all passive-aggressive about "how this community operates"? Oooookay.
  6. Did it not have good information that helped explain what you're going through?

    Relationship problems

My husband and I both had the sleeve surgery on the same day, so this hasn't been a big issue for me. Neither one of us is judgey with the other for making bad choices or even gaining a pound or two. We both know what it's like. And really, I can't even imagine ever being that way with him regardless of what happened, even if he re-gained all the weight he's lost. To me, my marriage is my safe place, my home. I would never want to treat my husband in a way I wouldn't want to be treated, and I surely wouldn't want him to be all judgemental with me.

I am so so so angry

I'm sorry your husband was nasty to you. I don't know what your guidelines say, but I'm a year out and there's no way I could eat a 7 ounce burger at one sitting.
  9. I picked, and my doctor agreed with me. I never considered lap-band as an option as I did not want to have to deal with the fills, etc., because my surgeon is a two hour drive away. So I was looking at sleeve vs. bypass and I just felt more comfortable with the sleeve so that's what I did. I'm one year and one week post-op and have lost 126 pounds so far and still losing slowly. I'm happy with my choice and would make it again in a heartbeat.
  10. The fact that you even posted this is a good sign. You know you did something you shouldn't have done, and you're admitting it. Now, just move on. You got hit with an emotional bomb. Would I have done the same? Maybe, maybe not, but as someone who is recovering from using food as a crutch, I can certainly understand why you did. You've got this. You can do this. Good luck with the chemo.

    Child's portion card?

Since my hubby and I both had sleeve surgery, we tend to order one meal and split it. Then, depending on the size of the meal, we take home leftovers and split those as well! We're a year post-op.

    Child's portion card?

I've heard of that, but honestly always thought it was just an urban legend. I don't have one and have never needed one. A restaurant can choose to sell you a child's plate or not regardless of any note or card that you claim is from a doctor.
  13. Oo! Thanks! This is exactly what I was looking for--a good (and affordable) scale. I adore my food scale. What I like best about this one is you can easily switch between ounces and grams. Once I got it through my head that serving sizes almost always list a volume AND a weight, it was amazing how much easier things became for me. Rather than having to measure out a 1/2 cup of refried Beans, just put a bowl on the scale and put refried beans in it until I get to whatever weight it lists. For me, it's just so much easier to measure by weight than by volume.

    staples after sleeve

A simple Google search of "surgical staples" and "X-ray" shows several examples.I'm aware of that. I was simply pointing out that in looking at quite a few post-sleeve surgery x-rays, I didn't see staples in any of them, so it's not that unusual that she can't see any in hers. The original post simply asked if one could see staples on an X-ray post-operatively...and the answer remains YES.Lol, whatever. *eyeroll*

  18. As far as I'm concerned, anything I ever say (or type) online, might as well be on a billboard somewhere for all the privacy I expect. Even if I'm on a site that claims to be private or like was mentioned above, has TOS that forbid recording, I assume anything I put out there is all publicly available. The only way for something to be kept private in this world is to keep it to yourself. Once you've shared it with ANYONE else, you no longer have control over where it goes. And when you deal with people online, you have no real way of knowing who they are or what motives they may have.

    staples after sleeve

I just looked at a bunch of post-surgery x-rays online and I couldn't see the staples in any of them.

    Negative people.....

I'm fortunate in that no one in my life has acted this way. But I'll be honest, I wouldn't deal with it. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I'd happly listen to them if they had concerns, but anyone who treats me with that level of disrepect would quickly be removed as an active part of my life.

    Jerky

Ooh, let me know how it is! The hubby and I will be vacationing in Port A in the spring, and that sounds like a store I'd like to visit.

    Jerky

How do you make your own jerky? Yall probably hunt right Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk No, we don't hunt. We buy beef roasts and bison roasts and we have a meat slicer. We slice the meat and use different jerky seasoning packets from Academy and/or Cabela's. We just slice the meat, marinate it, then dehydrate it. Once it's ready, we use our kitchen scale and divide it up into 1 ounce bags. We usually get about 28 ounces of jerky out of 4 to 5 pounds of meat. It works out to just under a dollar per ounce of high quality jerky.

    Jerky

I'm a year post-op and have been eating jerky regularly for about 6 months now. In fact, my husband (who is also sleeved) and I eat jerky so often that we bought a dehydrator and make our own.

    Men that had sleeve

My husband and I were both sleeved last year on September 11. We both had an incredibly easy time of it. He has had a very slight bit of acid reflux that he didn't have before, but other than that, it's been wonderful.

    Please help me

Try calling Dallas Bariatric Center. Their number is 972-331-1111. I don't know for sure if they will take your insurance, but I had very good experiences with them. Dr. Jayaseelan is excellent and I highly recommend him to anyone in the area. I live in Wichita Falls but my husband and I both made the drive to have our surgeries with him.
