Did your surgery come out good and how long was it before you could return to work? She told me there will be a 10 day modified diet before the surgery....does this mean liquid diet or low cal. diet??? Anyway, I would sooo appriciate any info. you can give. I am on medicare am 33 y/o on disability but work...and I weight 265. Thanks for much for the info. Hope you are doing great.

I was just listening to the old but good song that I thought totally applied to all of us. To everything, turn, turn, turn...there is a season turn, turn, turn...and a purpose for everything under heaven. A time to be born, a time to die..a time to plant a time to reap...a time to kill a time to heal...a time to laugh a time to weep...a time to build up a time a time to break down...a time to dance, a time to GAIN A TIME TO LOSE, etc, etc... We have went through a season of being over weight for whatever reason (i'm sure there are many different reasons we each have). Now it is time to lose the weight for all the right reasons. This will be good for our health and wellbeing...self esteem, etc... My surgery is Oct. 2 and I am so excited my weight will start FALLING OFF THIS FALL SEASON! I am anxious for this new journey and hopeful. Okay, while I am here I will say this: I love the chatroom here and have got so much good advise, etc...BUT, yesterday evening there was some argueing going on...back and forth, back and forth, name calling ect... I just think we all need to be sympathetic of each other and each others feeling. We are here to support each other during this difficult time in our lives. Not tear each other down. Anyway, just my two cents...you can take it or leave it. Blessings to you all...I wish everyone the best!

Lets get this PARTY started! Oct 07!
pvchickie replied to OregonHolly's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well, I am bandtaticly excited! I will be banded on Oct 2 and it's soon approching. I weight 260 now and plan for the weight to start FALLING off this OCTOBER! I have started exercising now and plan to keep it up. The surgery will be on a Tues. and I plan to be back to work by Mon....my Doc said this was possible as I only have a few vacation days (no sick days) left. I know this is going to be a hard struggle with a lot of getting used to...but I'm trying to stay positve, keep my eye on the goal, stay away from folks that are discouraging about the band and just enjoy this new journey in my life. There is a poem out there...I would share all of it but I can't seem to locate it in office...anyway it starts out: Wonderful, wonderful fortuate you, this is the year your drams come true! I plan on making this happen with Gods help. Blessings to you all...I pray for all of us success at this! -

How to use FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act) for work
pvchickie replied to michiganer's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I took FLMA for another medical problem when i was out of vac/sick time at my job. So easy to get...just went to Human Resource dept. and 2 days later I had it. I worked at a pretty large hosp. with i'm sure a large HR dept. Best of Luck to you! -
Any bandsters who are disabled?
pvchickie replied to Spooky's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Spooky and Claramae...i am wishing y'all the best and praying you both have great results. I too am diabled, had a car wreck and got a head injury (reminder: everyone wear a seat belt) which eventually caused mental health problems. I gained about 120 lbs in 4 years!I am now able to work again thankfully, I am a therapist (Occupational Therapy) and it's getting harder and harder for me to get patients motivated to exercise when they see me and my weight.Let me also say just how rude some can be...being elderly or being a child is no excuse for good manners in my book (those have been some of the most brutally honest to me). Anyway, I just wanted to let both of you know that there are some really good wheelchair/chair DVD exercise videos...there are actually some good ones for adults...just check out search on web. Any exercise is good exercise for the body and just keep moving whatever you do! Y'all take care...
