surgery tomorrow at 0800 -
Some unexpected NSVs have me LOLing in public. You?
snowblue replied to LipstickLady's topic in Rants & Raves
My surgery is in 2 days, but I have already had a NSV moment-- my scrubs used to be tight (like the seam ripped in the shirts tight...) well yesterday I had a liter of Fiji Water and needed the hand I was holding it with, so I stuck it in my front pocket... it fit with room to spare! What!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! -
who is having surgery in September?
snowblue replied to veronica.gray's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am about to go to a local meeting for bariatric patients. I did not know there was a "Big Book of Gastric Bypass." I will run by books-a-million on the way home from the meeting. Thanks for the info Jolisue! -
who is having surgery in September?
snowblue replied to veronica.gray's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Yes Jolisue, I started last Monday (even though I didn't have a date yet), just putting it out there in the Universe that I would get the Sept 22 day I hoped for Looks like it worked!!!!!!! I was doing really well until yesterday when I passed an Arby's... I fell off the wagon after I realized I might never be able to have it again... so I decided to just go on the all-liquid diet today rather than risk failing again (deciding to have "something else" for dinner rather than a lean cuisine). How are you doing with it? Any problems? I hope it has been smooth sailing for you! -

I just got my date!!!!!!!! September 22!!!!! I was going to have to wait until October, but as I was leaving they had a cancellation-- it just goes to show that things happen when they are supposed to, and not before. I have been waiting for a year for this to happen! Yay! -
Thanks for the support merckman I have done really well since that cream of wheat incident! Hahahaha

That is a great tip! I plan on having a 1/2 cup measuring cup with me at all times, and I will add a plastic baby spoon to that as well.

I couldn't agree more Cupcake! What a hottie -
Ya I know! I have had a problem with substance abuse in the past, and I honsetly didn't have much trouble quitting that, or with quitting smoking either... that said, I went nuts last night and found some really old cream of wheat in my pantry... I made it w sugar and butter... all of which I threw away this morning--I now have nothing in my house that in unapproved... tonight will be really hard... I would suggest trying to half-ass do the diet tomorrow, I have found it is much easier to taper off and onn things like that I have seen some posts on here about carb/sugar addiction, and then in class this morning the professor showed a slide of a MRI of someone's brain on sugar and on cocaine... the areas which were lit up were exactly the same, and they were the exact same color...

No not yet. It has been a long road to get here. I was all approved (I thought) last Thanksgiving time, but the surgeon couldn't do it the week I needed, and I couldn't take any time off until January. Then I had planned to do it the first week in March, but the psychiatrist had said I should go to therapy, and so the surgeon wouldn't do it then (not sure why it was OK in November, but not March) *sad trombone*... So here I am, after having 6 months of therapy, and my appointment with the surgeon is on Thursday, 9-11-14. I saw my PCP last week and got all of my pre-op lab work done, and I had an EGD last October and the surgeon's office said I would not need another one since my heartburn has gone away with prilosec. I already have approval because I work at the hospital where I will be having the surgery, and there is an excellent program. I am automatically approved, and I work with like 11 other nurses who have had the surgery. So I quit smoking 3 weeks ago, I stopped caffeine on Sunday, and I started the liquid diet over the weekend (I have cheated a bit, but done better with each successive day). On track so far today! Have you had your surgery yet?

I was looking on a forum (I don't remember which one) and there was a thread about who we are as people outside of WLS, but now I can't find it again... does anyone know where it is?

I know this sounds crazy and a little disgusting, but drinking warm prune juice has worked for many a nursing home resident. Also, a one part milk/one part molasses enema is sometimes prescribed in the hospital. I have not had my surgery yet, and I know prunes have a lot of sugar and carbs, but I've been a nurse for years and have seen good results with these Also there are always fleets enemas, mineral oil enemas, magnesium citrate, and milk of magnesia. Just some thoughts. Maybe check with your doctor again, and if you get desperate you could always ask for golytely Hope this helps!

I have my appointment with the surgeon Sept 11th, and anticipate getting a surgery date then. I am hoping for September 22 or 23 as I am in school and do not have a test that week. I have met all of the requirements and have been in the process of this approval for a year, and this is not my first meeting with this surgeon. I MIGHT BE A SEPTEMBER TOO!!!! YAY!!!!
