Nnegrete329, you can have the avocado, you just need to mix it with a lot of water and drink it. Or, you can tell yourself that just waiting a week or so and you can mash up an entire avocado and eat it over four meals

Congrats Jodie, welcome to the club of those of us waiting on insurance approval. -
Zomgjj, congrats, glad you are doing so well. It sounds like you are being well taken care of. Keep on improving...

Congrats Froggy, I'm hoping for the 6th. We'll be buddies.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I will be thinking of all of you getting surgery today, waiting to hear from you when you are able. Good thoughts are with you.

Thank you Erin. It is awesome to have this support you all give.

Well, I got the news I was hoping and praying I wouldn't get today. I am not a match for my brother so I can not be his bone marrow donor. I was so hoping I would be. Luckily we still have three other siblings to get tested and hopefully one of them will be his match. Very down this evening and I come home to my husband making white chocolate, macadamia nut, coconut cookies. What torture. I broke down and ate two. Now, I am leaving the kitchen for the rest of the night.

Congratulations Froggy, I'm waiting for that call now too. It just hit me that that's where I am at. Wow, kind of a scary feeling. Good luck. I am hoping that I will be on the sixth of March or at least sometime that week.

I've heard Tricare can be pretty fast. East or west? -
I can't believe how fast time is flying and all of you are getting your surgeries. I started this thread thinking I would be one of you. Now most likely March. I just was told I don't have to do any diet before hand to shrink my liver. I think however I am going to take a cue from most of you and do it anyway. I have woken up the last four days so swollen and I think it's because I am not drinking enough water so my body is telling itself to hold on to the little bit I do drink. Shame on me. Sometimes I question whether I am going to do this ok. I start on a plan and then things happen and I back away from my plan. I have no problem drinking my protein shake in the morning, I love it. Then I don't eat anything else except maybe fruit and an atkins protein shake for lunch. My problem then is I come home to my husband wh asks what I want for dinner or I have to stop at tne grocery store and of course by then I am starving and I pick out crap. My excuse...it's ok, I am doing this now because I know once I have surgery I can't have it because I'll dump if I do. Excuses aren't ok. I have to change my thininking and it is freaking hard. How did all of you who've had surgery get through this change before you had to do the required diet?
-
That is awesome, congratulations!

Zom, it sou n ds more like the flu then a problem with the diet. Have you called your Doc?

Congrats all of you that have had you February surgeries. I went yesterday and met with someone from the surgical team, my endocrinologist, and a study test coordinator. I am going to be participating in a study the Mayo is doing on the absorption of medicine after bypass. I was hoping to leave the appointment with a surgical date. Unfortunately they do not schedule until they receive insurance approval. I left my appointment without asking a ton of questions because of course I forgot them until I got in the car and headed home. Luckily I can log on to my portal and ask them there. I wasn't told about a preop diet so I am windering if they have one. I also don't need to do an y preop testing. The day before I go to the clinic and meet the surgeon and do a bit of blood work, then I will stay over night at a hotel nearby and report to the hospital the next morning. I was told to take 4 weeks off work, but if I feel up to it I can go back after two. I will probably just work from home the second week. I am praying my approval comes fast from BCBS. They will be submitting this week, (just making sure they have all the ducks in a row before they submit so there is no denying it) Good kuck to everyone today and the rest of this week. Perhaps I still could do surgery this month.

The other day I spent 45 minutes reading the sugarless gummy bear reviews on Amazon.com just because they were so hysterical. However it gave me an idea, why can't we intentionally use these for a colon cleanse before surgery rather than the crap they give us? But seriously, I am considering it for a jumpstart. Apparently you just need a small amount 20 or so to get a clean out. Has anyone either mistakenly had this experience or done it on purpose? Read the reviews at the link below, you'll at least get to spend some time laughing hysterically. http://www.amazon.com/Haribo-Gummy-Candy-Sugarless-5-Pound/product-reviews/B000EVQWKC/ref=cm_cr_pr_top_link_1?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=0&sortBy=byRankDescending

For about the last four months I have had trouble swallowing, I keep getting a pill stuck I my throat, if I eat something like yogurt or a fruit cup followed by a lot of water I can get it to go down. However ever since Friday I have felt like I have food stuck I my throat, it constantly is there I keep drinking more and more water to try to force it down but its not working. I feel like if I go to the doctor they are just going to think I am a hypochondriac, but the last two days I have been miserable. Feel like I want to throw up, am burping all the time, and when I woke up tnis morning I truly hurt. Has anyone else ever had this, and this is before surgery, it wories me if this were to happen after surgery.
