Where are the Lap-band support Groups in NC areas?
bondgirl replied to judybellyband's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey, I am from Lake Wylie SC but I am only 20 minutes from Charlotte. My Doctor Dr. Bauman is doing my Lap-Band surgery on the 30th of June. He is up in Concord and is doing the surgery at Northeast Medical Hospital. I know they have a support group there at that hospital. I will get more information when I can. I dont go see them again until the 21st of June. That is when I see Dr Bauman and The Hospital to pre-register. Let's see about keeping in touch. I really need as many supporters as I can get! I think it will be great to get up and be able to talk about our experiences. And Greensboro isnt to far from Concord, what maybe an hour? -

Hello Everyone, I have posted on here before but I am not one to post to often. I am at the end of the road with my pre op information. They faxed over my paper work yesterday and I should have either an approval or denial within the week. I hope it is approved. I am sure it will be, but I will keep my prays and fingers crossed! I am looking to have the actual surgery in June. Around the third week. My husband and I will be celebrating our 10 year anniversary in Vegas from the 13th until the 20th. I am so excited and scared at the same time. I have never flown before. I am really doing it up before my surgery. And I cant wait to do this. The Lap band seems to really help and it seems to make a lot of you all on here happy. I want that happiness back again. I am sure it will all go fine. Just scared of the D word. I know it is low statistically but still scared. Everyone goes through those emotions. I will keep you posted on my journey. Hopefully I have a date next week and will be so happy to share it with you all. Thanks for listening. bondgirl

Thanks Kathy! Yes I am so very excited about this. I cant wait. I will let her know. I will post on there soon. I figured I should get out here so others will get to know me. So I can get some support. It is a scary process. I do have my family behind me but I need others that have had this done for the emotional support. Thank you Kathy, you really put out some interesting stuff that helps others on here. Thanks for being so active on here. Bondgirl aka Angie

That is so wonderful Ron! I am so happy for you. You deserve that day on the golf course! Have fun! -
Hello Sunshine, I took the Lapband route because it is less invasive. You wont have anything routed and you pretty much stay normal. They are just pinching off a bit of your stomach to help you with eating and feeling full. Plus, you can have it out if you want to later in life. This isnt a permanent thing. That is what appeals to me. I just got off the phone with my psychologist office and they still have my chart there and they havent even faxed it over yet! That Doctor is dragging his feet. He needs to get his tail moving! lol This is the last piece to my puzzle and I will be able to have it done. I am not going to do it until after my Vegas trip. When I get back from that is when I want to do it. Which will be around the end of June, when you have your first visit. Good Luck to you and keep us posted.

Hey Kathy, Everything is going well. I had my last visit with the psych and I am pleased to say I am completely normal! lol He was so funny about that yesterday. He was like there is nothing on here for us to really talk about. You are completely sane! lol But, That was my last piece to get done. Now I need to wait on them to get it over and be reviewed. Hopefully he will do it soon. He said he would do it as quickly as possible. So I may know a date in the next couple of weeks. Keep your fingers crossed. I went and looked at your pic. You do not look like you are about 40 years old. I hope I can say that when I get there. I will be 34 in August. It will get here before I know it. I know what you are saying about the dying part. I am so scared but I know my doctor will take plenty of care of me. He has never lost a patient and is doing really well. So hopefully I wont be his first! scary! I know I shouldnt think like that but it makes you think? How much weight have you two lost? Keep me posted on that. I think it is great you have gone through it and I will have people to confide in and help me through it. Thanks in advance! Angie

I get my screen name from my married name. I married into the Bond Family! lol And Yes my Brother-In-Law is James Bond. Don't ask me why they did that to him. But, I am a Bondgirl and I want the body to go with it!

I am waiting on my psychologist visit to be submitted to Dr. Bauman. That was my last thing and that can take them up to 3 weeks. I went on the 15th of April. So hopefully it wont take much longer and we can get approval from the insurance. I know I wont get to do it until the end of June. May is all booked up and then I go to Vegas the middle of June. I want to be able to go there and enjoy myself before I go through this banding stuff. I am so terrified I will die during surgery. I have been thinking about this alot and it is aweful. I have three beautiful little girls and I am afraid I would die and leave them. I hate thinking like this but I know everyone does. I will keep you guys posted. Thanks! Angie

Hey Girls, It has been mighty quiet in here! lol I am still doing the waiting game. Hopefully I will know something soon. It is frustrating!!!! How are you two doing? Anymore weight loss? Are you guys feeling good? Do you regret doing this? Let me know all your feelings please! I am scared and excited at the same time and just cant wait to have it done. I was in my friends wedding on Saturday and I was the only fat girl there. I felt terrible. I am looking forward to loosing this weight. Please let me know how you girls are doing. Thanks, Angie

I am sorry to hear about all your going through, but I am very happy to hear it isnt slippage! That is scary.

My Dr. has had success getting them to pay. My husbands friend from work got them to pay and his bmi was only 38 and he had sleep apnea. I dont think I will have much of a problem. I hope not anyways.

Eliza, Thanks so much for replying back. I am so excited! Tomorrow, I get to go to my Pshycholgist visit! I called and they had a cancellation. This is the last step for me and then I have to wait for everything to be submitted and get word from insurance. Keep your fingers crossed that everything goes well tomorrow and I am not admitted for being crazy! LoL My Doctor has a different approach about giving a fill. They said that once the band is in place it is a "tool", that you have to use that "tool" to lose the weight. You need to eat right and drink your Water and exercise. The nutritionist said that they dont do any restricting of the band until they see a halt in your weight loss. She said that they have had people not get a fill for a year and they have lost all the weight they needed too in that year. She said to eat 3 meals a day and two Snacks in between. She said to drink your water all day. Sip on it all day to make sure you keep your hydration. Make sure you pick the right foods and nutrition throughout the day and you will see steady weight loss with out the fill. We shall see. She said everyone is different. She said my Doctor has never had one slip on them to where he had to go back and re-adjust it. What does your diet consist of right now? Let me know and I can share some things that she told me. I know the first two weeks I will only be able to drink Protein shakes and water to get all the protein and water I need. I can have hot tea and chicken broth, but I have to make sure I get in the 45mg of Protein a day. Let me know and I can email it to you. OK, I will get off of here now. I have talked your ear off and need to get ready for bed! lol Thanks again and please keep me updated. I love hearing from you all. I havent heard from Kathy. But I have seen her posting about other things. I saw she had an incident with some Jello. I hope she is ok. Kathy, please post here and let us know how you are! Your friends from SC! Angie

Eliza, How can you tell you need a fill? What does it feel like? So many questions from someone that hasnt even had it done yet! I went to the nutritionist today and it was very insightful. She had a lot of things to add and made me feel a lot better about doing this. I can't wait. I wont be able to have my surgery until June now but that is no big deal. I dont want to rush things. Plus my husband and I are going on our 10th year anniversary to Vegas on the 13th of June so I want to be able to enjoy it! lol Please keep me updated on your progress. Let me know how much weight you guys have lost! I am so excited about this! Thanks, Angie

Hi Judy and Kathy, Yes, I am from South Carolina. I am about 20 minutes from Charlotte, NC and I know where Randolph road is! That is great. I am so excited and can't wait to have my surgery. It will be great to see others and get to know their experience face to face. I really thank you for directing me here Kathy. Judy, I would come on the 29th but I am going away on the 23rd for a Wedding so I dont think my hubby would be happy if I left the following weekend! lol Maybe next time I would be able to travel up and visit with you all. It would be great. I think Durham is about 3 hours from me. Not too terribly far? I would have to get a hotel and stay the night after I ate! lol Hopefully I will be banded by the next time you guys do this. Keep me updated! Thanks to you both! Angie -
Congrats!!! I am so happy for you. Hey, V8 isnt so bad! lol Thanks for the information, I will check it out. I can't wait to even get a date. It seems to take forever, but I know it has to go slow. I don't want to rush it and hurt myself. Keep us updated! Congrats again on your new journey! Angie

That is great news! 15 pounds is a big deal Girl! Keep up the great work. How do you feel? Are you getting used to the liquids and mushies? I think that first stage will be hard for me, but I will do fine I am sure. I go to my Nutritionist tomorrow. I just had to fill out a questionaire and it was long. Asking all kinds of weird stuff. I guess they have to do that to make sure you are not crazy and doing this for the wrong reasons. I hope Kathy is doing fine. I can't wait to hear how it went for her. Let us know when you can.
-
Hang in there girl! I am sure it is hard. To go in one day and not be able to eat what you want. I will be there soon enough. It is hard to even think about it. How much have you lost? My friend has lost 20 pounds since March 8th. He is looking good. Do you feel your clothes getting lose? That is going to be fun! I can't wait to feel that. Good Luck to you Kathy! I hope everything goes well. Keep us posted on how you are doing. I am so excited for you! I had a bad day yesterday. I had my psychologist appointment at 3pm. I left the house in plenty of time. I got there 5 minutes past and they wouldnt see me because the Doctor needs a full hour with me. I was so upset because I had my date switched out so I could go early. That was a big let down yesterday. So I am back to the drawing board on calling and seeing if any cancellations have happened. Oh fun! I am sure this part before the surgery is very stressful. I will get through it though. Let me know if there is anything I can do for anyone of you. I am so happy you two are having it done and will be able to help me through it. Thanks! Angie
