What if I CANT stop losing weight.
Ang1982 replied to Livingthe Dream's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
A friend of mine who had gastric bypass (actually both of them) had that same concern but their bodies just settled into a spot that it was happy and now they don't even give it a second thought. Hopefully everything goes well - you are looking and doing fantastic. -
Haha, quite possibly. Personally, I never took any pain meds post op...
-
My luck I would forget they are in there - dump the whole litterbox in the garbage and throw them out by accident. Or, my DF would be wanting to help out and do the same haha.

Hah that's great. This made me pull out my own license and see what it says on it. I am 25 now and I know the weight on it hasn't been updated since I was 16 and I KNOW I lied on it at the time and was heavier than I put. It says I'm 186 lbs (well 86kgs cuz I live in Canada), that's funny! Gosh only knows when I was 186lbs, I was probably like 13. Hehe. If I ever get pulled over or whatever some cop would be like uhmmm what? Especially because the pic on there is from before I lost 50 lbs on weight watchers a few years ago and is definitely around my heaviest. I have to renew my license this year, wonder what weight I will tell them then.... heheheehe. Thanks for the giggle.

Your pics turned out fantastic. You're beautiful girl! -
Well said! I agree.

I try to, I really do - but I find myself waivering and not doing it again. I go to Curves but really don't like it so I am going to see if I can find another outlet of exercise that I do enjoy. I am currently looking into doing something like water exercises (gotta find swimsuit first haha) and I hope that is something I can stick to as I do love the water.

So it has been just over a week since I had my first fill! And while I know I will need another one for sure I do feel that I have some restriction from that fill. However, now I really need to get back on track. While I can still seemingly eat anything (I don't have problems getting anything down) I do get the fuller feeling so I don't eat nearly as much but I am not measuring my food or counting my calories and I know that I really need to start. I also admit to besides my moving day I have not done any exercise this month. I want sooooo badly to make this work - WHY am I having such a hard time doing the things I need to so that it does? I KNOW I need to measure servings, count calories, not eat chocolate or starbucks, or treats and I need to exercise otherwise I am wasting this $14,000 tool inside me. WTF is wrong with my brain that I am not doing these things? It has almost been two month since my surgery... ARGH. Why do I have to be a lazy procrastinator? Geeez.

Hey Mike, hang in there. Have you done any measurements rather than just relying on the scale? I noticed when there was a period my scale wasn't really moving that my measurements were actually changing a bit. I have had my 2nd fill now and will need another one for sure as I don't really have a whole lot of restriction either - I have to remind myself to not eat. Other than that - maybe journal your food for a week or so - see where you are at with what you are consuming calorie/fat wise. The Daily Plate is a great site for that. Have you started exercising at all? *hugs!*

That is for sure and as I lose the weight I have to remember that I don't need to buy 10 new outfits in a new size as they likely won't fit soon (I've not yet lost that much to change a whole lot where I'm needing to buy a lot more yet - still at the stage where some of my clothes are too big but others are just fitting better). Fantastic NSV's! I bought tickets to a concert in August and I hope I am down a good chunk of weight by then because I remember the last concert I went to at that venue my ass didn't really fit in the chairs at all (granted I've lost like 40lbs since then anyways... that was like 6 or 7 yrs ago) and I want to be comfortable and have fun! Keep up the awesome job everyone!

Anyone Gaining or Staying the Same?
Ang1982 replied to awesomemom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Taylor, Sorry to hear you are having a rough time right now *hug*. Have you started exercising? Are you journalling your foods? Writing them down and actually seeing the calorie content you are consuming can sure slap you in the face sometimes (I use the daily plate - free online). I'm losing, slowly, but I am and during the times that it doesn't seem like I am losing I take my measurements and will sometimes notice a change there. Have you been tracking your measurements? -
Did you have weight problems as a child?
Ang1982 replied to isabelle290's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Even as a little kid I was on the chubbier side but it didn't really strike until I was around grade 4 (9 I think) I was definitely one of the heavier kids (also taller kids) in my small elementary school. BUT I was an active kid, in Grade 7 (12 I think) I was on the soccer team, volleyball team, basketbal team, did track and field and played rugby at lunch. I wasn't a lazy kid, but I hit puberty with a vengance when I was 11 and by the time I was in high school (13) I had DDD breasts and was about size 16 or so (I remember being in grade 9 and shopping at cotton ginny plus, one of the ONLY plus size stores in Canada at the time and the clothes were horrible). By the time I graduated high school I was no longer active as my breasts were about a H cup (I had a breast reduction at 19 where I went from a H to a C/D, 10 lbs taken off) and I was about a size 20/22. I had various hormone tests done but nothing ever came back as being off so who knows. I have not been thin, ever. So when people say that phrase "nothing tastes as good as thin feels" I'm sure they are right but I don't know how "thin feels" so I can't relate. -
Woo hoo! That's awesome. Congrats

Oh my gosh! Was it a smaller plane? Cuz something tells me one 500 lb guy on a 747 wouldn't make that much difference. How embarrasing for the poor fellow. Granted I haven't flown as often as some but I've NEVER had to put my arm rests down on a flight. I didn't even realize that this was supposedly a "law". Interesting. I too have had the occasional flight that was almost empty and got to sprawl acrsos all 3 seats - no one said a thing.

I don't think there is any specific parameter for BMI to whether or not you need to shrink your liver, I believe it's more based on surgeons. I started with a BMI of 50 - no preop diet required, surgery went very well as did the healing afterwards.

I LOVE THE NEW PIC! BBK, looking fantastic.

The place that has the aquafit Water aerobics is actually the YMCA so I would have full access to their facility if I joined up with them and it's the same price as Curves ($46 a month). Thank you for all the input and advice, I love to hear it. I'm going to dig out my swimsuit, shave my legs (lol) and give aquafit a couple test drives see what I think and make my decision from there. I cant afford to join until I can end my Curves membership (June 16) so I have plenty of time to do a couple of drop in's at the Y ($5.75 drop in fee).
-
I'm going to do a couple drop in's to the aqua fit to see if I enjoy it as much as I think I might. Membership to there also includes membership to their entire facility/all programs - so there's the weights, treadmill, etc but it is coed so I'd have to get past my issues with that lol. Yah I've only gone to Curves 1x this week *sigh*. Unfortunately Curves is the only ladies only gym in my town.

What do you do with your old clothes??
Ang1982 replied to TulipStar's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Over the past years I have donated a bunch of clothes to a local women's transition house - perhaps they have something like that in your area. -
NSV - i got in my DH's shorts ... ;)

Hahaha, awesome. I say you keep them til he figures it out  -
Dr. Woodhead in Delta is my surgeon and he is fabulous. His cost is $14,000 (+$400 for first consult), this includes the cost of aftercare fills. I believe that currently his wait times to be expected are approximately 1 month to get consult and then 1-2 months (closer to 1 I believe) to get surgery.

Asking for answers, and encouragement
Ang1982 replied to chiefsfankatie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can't answer your question as I'm only a couple of months post op but .... I can tell you that 60lbs in a year is a great start and with your band getting refilled it's a great time to get back on track. Maybe start journaling your foods to get the hang of things again? YOU CAN DO THIS!!! *HUG* You had a set back now you are back up on the horse and you can give-er. Take it one day at a time. You're doing great. -
Why do manufacturers do this ???
Ang1982 replied to Mrs SmartyPants's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Holy cow! That is quite the difference - I too would have thought that Rice Crispies would be worse...
