Hey girlie, it was easily almost two weeks before I had to #2 at all. I didn't feel backed up or anything I just didn't have to go. I guess just from being on liquids my body was peeing it out rather than the other. And when it did decide it was time (just around the 2 week mark) there was no need for Milk of Magnesia or anything - it just happened and normally. But now I definitely don't #2 everyday like before - MAYBE every 2-3 days and I'm on pureed/mushies now. Well done on the weight loss so far - keep kick @$$.

my most embarassing moment(s) in my journey
Ang1982 replied to cakegal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh gosh! You poor thing what a day that was! Those are the type of days you just want to go home, curl up in bed and not get up until it's quarter past icecream lol. At least you could have a good laugh about it! -
Sounds like a plan. I got up a bit early today (and I'm soooo sleepy right now) and did 5 minutes on my elliptical, figured I would start with 5min at a time or my poor leg muscles may be Jello and I may not be moving oh so swiftly tomorrow, so I will do another 5minutes when I get home. What is your plan to exercise? Do you have a machine of sorts? Going to go for walks?:scared2:
-
Thanks for all the advice everyone. And Jachut you're right just frickin do it. My thing is when I get home from work that's the last thing on my mind. So, tomorrow I get up a few min early and get my ass on that elliptical and go. I think I will start easy with 10 minutes, my poor muscles will probably die if I do too much right away - I'll let ya know how it goes!

hmmm okay sounds like a plan.. yah I have an elliptical that stares me down in my living room.

Surgeon fees vs. hospital fees
Ang1982 replied to Shinyhappymommy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My surgery was $14000 that I paid directly to my surgeon and he paid out the appropriate people from that amount. -
My girl friends black lab from pretty much puppyhood had to be crate trained and as much as it seems "cruel" to have them in such a small space she does much better when she's in her crate (her crates a reasonably big size). It's her "comfy place" and her "home". They've tried letting her run free in the house to this day when they are out and it ALWAYS ends badly (she's 2+ now). Her crate is somewhere that she is comfortable with and doesn't cry in when she's knows its time to go there.

Ahh that sucks. Those things are so handy. Although I don't have the actual Magic Bullet because here they are like $70 (for a blender no thanks) so I got walmarts knock off version (miracle blender) for $30-35 instead. So far it's not yet kicked the bucket although it doesn't really seem to have the power to do much besides liquids with a bit of ice or frozen fruit in it. I tried tuna and mayo the other day and I was sure I was going to blow the motor, and get this - the blade actually bent. Is the Magic Bullet better for stuff like that?

Well I am almost 3 weeks post op and feel absolutely fine so I could start doing exercise at any point... except my problem is UGH I just don't want to. I HATED IT SO MUCH and well I haven't lost enough weight yet to have that attitude change. *sigh*.

Why no caffeine and no carbonation
Ang1982 replied to yellowroseaz's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used to be a total carbonation addict - but usually not more than like one or two pops a day (if that) I quit buying them for the house at the beginning of january - my surgery was january 23, in order to get a head start on it. And while I am only still in the pureed stage of my band, do I miss pop? Sure, but right now I am missing a lot of things, do I think I will die if I don't have it? nope not at all. I'm pretty sure once I'm eating "normal foods" I don't think it will make a huge difference. -
Look at it this way hon, if they are around our age group and like that - give them 15-20 years and their metabolism will kick their asses and while you're a champ with your band they... well u get the drift
-
I have to agree -if you're only eating little bits of it anyways .. why it the crappy stuff? Before banding I tried to eat lowfat everything, but now - if I can only eat a bit of it anyways it's gonna be a good bit darn it.

The reason he targetted actually makes sense I guess. When I just read that he sexually assaulted them first... that made my skin crawl. Those poor ladies.

Please tell me my saggy ugly boobs are going to be fixable!!!
Ang1982 replied to BRANDYK's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
aww honey *hug* I'm sorry you are having such a hard time with your image and this isn't meant to upset you but just to give you the truth of what could happen... my girl friend's cousin (know her reasonably well myself) had bypass surgery approx 5 years ago and she was a very big chested girl. With her losing weight with gastric bypass her boobs ended up like "tube socks with tennis balls in them" i believe she described them and due to them being so big and stretched out for so long the doctor said that there really wasn't anything they could do becuz the tissue was just so stretched and damaged from time. She had a few plastic surgeons tell her that. Not just in reference to a reduction, but reduction, lift and even implants. So please just be aware that some people may have issues with that. Hopefully you aren't one of them. -
She's not banded yet...

Ugh, I feel your pain, I was in ketosis state like 3 days out of surgery with the nasty smelling pee, the white tongue and funky mouth taste. ICK. Hopefully going to mushies will help it. Cuz ewwwie. *hug* hang in there girlie.

I've rushed through the mushie phase
Ang1982 replied to healthyagain's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think the person to be asking this question to is your doctor. He would be the best persons instructions to follow. I know my post op diet is 4 days Clear Liquids, 10 days full liquids, 14 days pureed foods. My doctor says this is so that you can heal up completely and that while maybe you feel like your fine to eat something that doesn't fall into those categories or during the proper stage time frame - doesnt mean that you should. That they have this post op diet in place for a reason and that while it may not seem to have any affect to you now - maybe 6 months down the road if it turns out that you have slipped or something of the sort it could very well be tied to any post-op indescretions. That in itself scared me enough to not risk trying ANYTHING out of turn. Good luck with your healing - today's day 1 of my pureed food stage and I am VERY excited to be having pureed tuna for lunch instead of yogurt and pudding! -
Hello, Did anyone else have something like this? Is it something I need to be concerned with? Since yesterday (worse today) I've had a pain in my left side under below my ribs - the best way to describe it is - you know if you eat or drink something then run that side cramp that you get? it feels like that. I feel it whenever I breathe in and then subsequently at the same time it gives me a small pain at the base of my neck/shoulder on the right side. Is this a gas pain? Do I need to be worried? I would call my doc and ask but he's away for a week. Thoughts?

2wks post op - side pain - help!
Ang1982 replied to Ang1982's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am feeling much better today, actually by yesterday afternoon it seemed to have passed, must have been a gas bubble or something of the sort. I did however, when bending over to unleash my small dog last night, have a VERY painful pinch on the right side that made be stand up right pretty fast, after I stood up the pain was gone so hopefully it was nothing. Note to self - TAKE IT EASIER. -
Also - note this comment posted by Doddie in another thread: "Right on Alex R. After care is vital. I know as I live out in BC. No fill nurse or doctor will do fills for other clinic's patients. As a favor to my surgeon, a local surgeon is now taking care of me but I was in a real panic. Also, don't forget there are side affects you could experience such as erosion, slippage, flipped port, stuck food. You need to get to get a fluro or defill quickly. How quick could you get to Mexico? Some Colleges of P&S are dithering on whether or not GPs should do fills as a result, many GPs are declining to do the fills. So think twice no three times before going out of the Country just to save a few "bob". Doddie"

Honestly, if you live in BC you need to think long and hard before you go elsewhere to be banded and this is why... When I was researching where to get my band (was contemplating Dr.Kirschenbaum in Colorado cuz he's reasonably priced) I found out that there are only TWO doctors in the lower mainland Vancouver area. One of which will NOT do any other surgeons fills PERIOD (Dr.Leung) and as far as I know my surgeon (Dr.Woodhead) does not do them as well - he may but you have to have a consult of which he will then determine if he will - but if he won't now you're stuck with a band and no one to fill it. Alternately, you would have to drive to Washington to get fills and it's not cheap there you are looking at $150-200 per fill. My 2 cents - go to one of the two vancouver surgeons - my surgeon, Dr.Woodhead in Delta for example, charges $14000.00 for the surgery anda $400 consult fee intitially HOWEVER he does not charge for the cost of fills or defills etc. All aftercare is covered. So if you do decide to go out of country - make sure you have your fill place lined up first. As aftercare is the most important.

I was wearing jeans a week and a half post op no problem.

2wks post op - side pain - help!
Ang1982 replied to Ang1982's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is on the port side actually - but I'm curious to why you would say not to worry about it on that side vs the other? You obviously know something I dont. hehe. Thanks for replying. -
How much milk are you using for your Protein shakes? 1 cup? I quite enjoy the Unjury Vanilla with skim milk for Protein Shakes -I haven't tried any other flavors. I am still going thru my various healing stages and for breakfast have only been making my shakes with 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 scoop Unjury. I know we are supposed to once healed and eating regular food only have 1/2 cup or so but do you think 1 cup breakfast shakes are okay? Cuz man I am hungry by like 1030am.
