You're right!!! YAY! Oh and I think I neglected to mention that even though I wasn't going into buy, I left with a pair of 24's hehe. WOOHOOO
-
Haha, you're a better sport about it than I likely will be when I have my first one, but at least you learned something :tongue2:
-
Check out the main forum list - they have added specific forums/threads for special interest threads - it likely got moved into there under "religious".

So here I am almost 3 weeks out of surgery... and I don't exercise, at all. Nothing, zip, nada. To be honest I never even really walked much during the post op gas phase because I didn't really have to. So here I am with a Curves membership that I have had since last hmmm June (did I mention I only went for like a month when I had it lol) and an elliptical sitting in my living room yet you think I have gotten up/out to use either? Nope not at all. So obviously I have a LAZYNESS issue (duh, that's how I got fat haha) but can anyone give me some pointers on how to kick myself in the @$$ and get on it? :smile2:
-
Hey Andrea, I understand what you mean about being heavy and not wanting to use it yet - I think that's the biggest deterent for me right now. But at the same time I also realize that to be less heavy I need to exercise so it's like damned if ya do, damned if ya don't. I do live in BC and in the lower mainland so when it's not raining it is usually mild yup. However, unfortunately I only get 1/2 hr lunch breaks which doesn't allow for much besides slowly eating my lunch otherwise that's a fantastic idea. I am moving in a couple of weeks so my evenings after work are spent packing up my house and once this hecticness is over I am going back to Curves for sure (doc gave me the a-o-k). And, I will have no excuse because it's within walking distance of my new house, haha.

I need your opinions....get in here! :)

Ahh girlie, we all sympathize, we have been there and some of us like myself are still in "banster hell" except now I'm out of post op diet phase waiting for first fill. So first of all I want to give ya a BIG HUG! but then you realize I'm gonna have to grab you by the shoulders and give you a gentle shake. I was like you, after about a week I felt good to go, no pain really nothing. I have basically been hungry since surgery. The first week or two was tough, but you learn to deal with it because of the greater good down the road. My surgeon told me in my follow up after my surgery that even though I feel fine and think I could eat a sandwich dont do it. While it may have no effects now he said, it could be down the road attributed to erosion or slips if you did not let your body heal properly. I'm sure you are okay but you could always fess up to your doc and see what he has to say - just tell him you had a lapse in judgement but are back on track. And yes mushies does say ground beef but last time I checked that's not steak hehe. It sounds like you have realized your mistake and know that you should be eating better. So make the vow to yourself and your band to behave from here on out. YOU CAN DO IT!!!! :tongue2::biggrin::smile: -
Hehe, you could consider doing two sets of before and afters? I am doing mine that way. I have one set in form fitting exercise type clothes and the other in my skivvies that will be just for me and DF's eyes only.

Wooohooo, grats on the NSV, how exciting keep up the awesome work
-
Hey Mike! Of course we don't ... welcome! 35lbs total and 15 since surgery - good job Keep it up.

Hey everyone, Before my surgery I had ordered some unjury Protein powder in unflavored and vanilla. Every morning I make a vanilla Protein shake for breakie and it does me well. However, I am almost out of vanilla and ordering Unjury is another option but I have to get it shipped to my shipping address in the States and then go down there (not a big deal 1/2 hr drive away) and pick it up (just more inconvenient but cheaper than the like $$$ more for shipping to Canada). I was wondering if anyone had a brand that they bought from a Healthfood store? or GNC or something? I prefer vanilla flavored, chocolate *MAYBE* depends on the brand. Ideas or suggestions? It would be more convenient to find one in stores here that I like. Thanks!

Yikes Christine, big hug for you. I've been a bit behind on my "blog catching up". I'm sorry you are going through such craziness. Sending you big hugs. -
Arrived in the mail today and you know - it's actually not as ugly as I thought it would be. Stainless steel with the standard little "alert logo" and the engraving is there but doesnt stand out like "HEY anyone can look at my wrist and see wtf is up with me". In case anyone is curious it says: On the front - Adj. gastric band w/abdominal medi- port / no NSAIDS & no NG tbue w/o scope see back for more details Back- my name Surgeon - Dr.Robin Woodhead his phone numbers More info in wallet UMI - Home is the company I ordered it from. Came to just over $40 including shipping.

My port is on my left side just above and to the left of my belly button. I have one bigger "scar" from my port incision and then 5 smaller ones.

Perhaps it varies by person? My grandmother had a TERRIBLE reaction to MSG (From a chinese food place that said they didn't use it then ended up having to fess up later that they lied). She got very very sick, diarhea (sp), fever/shakes and actually blacked out at one point and they had to call the Ambulance. Regardless you definitely should look into an allergy test.

Awww what a sweet baby dog you have there. hope that you are feeling better soon, what a scary experience. Perhaps you have to coax him down with you, one step at a time giving him snuggles along the way and perhaps some treats to show him it's okay?
-
YAY! Congrats. Very awesome. I am excited to read your post after having your first fill as I know you were struggling before hand. I cannot wait for mine (March 10) as like you, I felt fine within days of my surgery and am hungry pretty much all the time. I eat my required amounts and follow it like I should, but I have no restriction so I'm pretty much just hungry ALL the time. You give me hope for my first fill becuz right about now it feels like I paid $14000 for will power LOL

Chilliwack, BC Bandsters/soon to be - get together?
Ang1982 replied to Ang1982's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hey Patricia, Thanks so much for your response. I know there are a few people within the area who are researching lapband or already have it. You're right evening meetings can be difficult, but I don't know which would be worse - evening or weekend... during the day is just not an option for me, so I guess time will tell. Cheers, Angela -
I'm officially in bandster hell. Help!
Ang1982 replied to SuzanneG's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ugh, I think I am officially entering Bandster hell as well. I am 2 days from the end of my postop food phase - and I have ZERO restriction with the band. Nothing so far at all. I lost no weight last week (oh well, hopefully this week brings better things) and I can't get my first fill until March 10th. That seems so far away. I am however excited to get to be out of post op food phase on Thursday. I think I shall have Sushi lol. -
The crazy way my husband handles tel a marketing call.
Ang1982 replied to crazycat's topic in The Lounge
haha, you guys have some pretty funny responses. Personally, unless I don't like their attitude I always give them a chance to get the first part of their "speil" off before I say no thank you and hang up. The way I look at it is - yes, it is annoying to those of us receiving the calls, but it is someone's livelyhood. And perhaps we do not agree with their career choices, but everyone has to start somewhere. So I give them the chance to at least do their opening line. I don't do anything to ruin their stats or handle times in case it impacts their job in a negative way. I guess I'm a big softie, but I'd rather they work as a telemarketer than be on welfare or whatever. -
My doctor (and I know from other people having mentioned in the past it's not just my surgeon) doesn't allow NSAIDS because they can cause irritation to the pouch which I think (don't quote me on this) may have to do with higher chances for erosion, etc. Tylenol is okay, NSAIDS are not. Hopefully one of the more experienced banders will pop in here and give a better explination than I have. If not, you may want to post a separate post in a different thread (not under Jan 08 banders) and ask that very question.
-
Wow *hug* that sucks. I hope you are feeling better soon. Sounds like an allergic reaction with the swelling. If you had chinese is it possible that you are having an adverse reaction to possibly MSG? Do you know if the place you went to uses MSG? Hope you're feeling better soon that doesn't sound like much fun at all!
-
Yay, grats on getting your fill. That's exciting, I hope you find it works better for you now. I understand your frustration - I too have had absolutely no restriction whatsoever with my band. Nothing. I don't get my first fill until March 13 (my surgery was Jan 23 ) so I have a ways to go before I get to have that feeling.
