Ugh, I hope hope hope I can get my 600 minutes in this month. This week is a bad week for me because it's all wrapped around my moving and I won't have time to get to the gym- think I can count packing and moving day as exercise? LOL
-
Exactly, I may be fat but I'm losing weight and they'll always be stupid LOL.

Oh my gosh, I hear yah. I am in bandster hell which only makes it worse.. my poor fiance. I'm so grumpy and snarky and bitchy... YIKES

The feel of newspaper or dishes that are clean from the dishwasher give me the heeby-geebies. I used to think that pulling out my eyelashes and eyebrows was kinda quirky, then I learned it's a disorder so I'm not quite as crazy as I thought I was.

Birth Control Before Surgery
Ang1982 replied to Angelyco's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey girlie, I would start with asking your surgeon what he requires. Personally, I take the birth control pill - my surgeon knows I do and I was not told to stop taking it at all before. As a matter of fact I ended up taking an extra week in my 3 week set of pills so that I didn't end up with my period during surgery (no thanks). Good luck! I'd give your surgeon a call see what they have to say -

Hi Mike, Wow, travelling like that for work must making being banded interesting! I have yet to have my first fill (March 10th is mine) but personally I would say if you seem to have good restriction and aren't too tight than it's probably not that bad of a thing. I would rather have an aggressive first fill and than maybe only have to go back once or twice than have to go 7 or 8 times to get the right restriction. How are you finding the restriction? How long ago was your fill? I know they say it can take up to a couple of days before the restriction actually kicks in. Good luck! Ang

Have a great trip!!!! See you when you get back

Yup the plastic retainers are definitely allowed in surgery. I took out all my earrings and tongue ring and put the plastic one in my nose and they were fine with that. They just don't want any metal in your body. As for where to find them, most places that do piercing and sell piercing jewellery carry them up here.

Hey everyone, my surgery is tomorrow and I've been told this is something I should be getting... except I can't seem to find it anywhere. The only ones I find are for Children and I'd have to take like half a bottle of it or so lol. Is this available in Canada? Can someone steer me in the right direction? Thanks, Angela

Hey guys, I was hoping some of you more seasoned (or even not so seasoned but better at it than I am) bandsters could give me a few pointers about measuring food and food amounts. During my post op diet phase I was very diligent about measuring all my food, but then it was easy to measure yogurt, pudding, cottage cheese, you get the drift. Now that I am into "regular" eating I have a hard time measuring stuff. I was hoping for some pointers... how do you measure your lunches? dinners? I have no restriction and NEED to start figuring out how to measure food again. An example of my food in a day: Breakie - Protein shake (easy to measure) lunch - half a bun-sandwich (bunwich? lol) dinner - sushi until "full" Usually breakie and lunchs have been the same thing for me other variations of dinner would be like an omelet or something. How do you measure that? I'm so confused on how to measure my dinners. I'm having a hard time with these with no restriction and I hate hate hate hate hate cooking. Please help, I'm getting so discouraged and I don't get my first fill until Mar 10. I gained 4 lbs back in the past week.

Hmm... well I started poking around on the internet and found this which I copied from a Lap-band.com newsletter that may help others.. still will appreciate any info anyone can give though.

Heh, actually with last weeks Bandster hell slips ... today's my weigh day and I'm actually up to 303 again... couldn't bring myself to update my ticker. -
600 Minute March! is great, I love that! Should we start a new thread or do you just want me to rename this one?
-
Hmm, I was thinking about that and then started poking around on other monthly threads to see how they did that. And I was thinking... for our first exercise challenge should we perhaps set a "minutes" goal rather than a "mileage" one while people figure out they are going to do exercise. So for example, there are 4 weeks and a couple days in March.. what if we set a minimum goal of 600 minutes of exercise for the month of March? That's a minimum of 150 minutes a week (30 minutes, 5 x a week). Let me know what you guys think...

Yay Jenny! Congrats, how awesome you must be feeling. Gogo banding!

You're right, I haven't had my first fill yet- not until March 10. I actually have a MIDBand (Hello and welcome to the MIDBAND™ website). I know that the first fill may not do much but I'm trying to be optimistically hopeful! I hope that your 2nd fill gets you to the restriction that you need and I hope your tooth problems go away that does not sound like fun at all. It's hard not to be discouraged, I know it's not going to be like a "miracle device" that when implanted it automatically makes me start losing 10lbs a week.. hehe, how nice would that be? I just wanna get the ball rolling, I did so good with my post-op diet weightloss and now here I am in regular food and gained 4 lbs!! Argh! -
Pardon my ignorance, but I have to ask - where is Auburn? Near Arlington/Everett area? Just curious as when I was checking around the Washington area I didn't come across Auburn. Do you mind if I ask how much you pay for fills? Also, I would like to go on record to state that in case it has previously come off this way - I am not anti-American nor anti-Mexican/Foreign country at all. I actually seriously considered both the US (Denver) and Mexico as possibilities for my surgery. My only concern is for people in B.C. to be SURE that they have their aftercare (fills, etc.) lined up/figured out/arranged before they have their surgery as we do not have many options here in BC. If you are able to find a good after care place that suits you and you can afford to pay for fills (ie: in Washington) then awesome. I personally ended up going with a BC surgeon because of a couple of reasons; a) I could afford it, I found it more convenient and less stressful to have one person that could do everything (surgery, fills, etc.) rather than having to find a fill clinic in Washington and have to deal with border crossing, etc. I will fully support any Canadian that decides to travel abroad whether it be the States or Mexico as long as you have lined up your aftercare BEFORE you go for surgery. We are all here to get healthy and be supported by people who are going through the same things whether we get it done locally, in the same country, in a different country or whatnot. So here's to new health, new happiness and new lives that the Lapband is bringing us!

Awesome!!! I can't wait until we hit warmer weather here and I go to put on my capri's, etc and find they are too big that will be a fun (possibly expensive) day!
-
That's great - good luck with your first fill (it's a couple days before mine, let me know how it goes) and good luck with all your finals and projects!

What is your fav breakfast, lunch and dinner now that you are banded?
Ang1982 replied to citygirl4616's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow! Look at the Protein in that! I will have to do some scoping out of some of the stores around here to see if I can pick some up. I'm in no rush however as during my post-op diet stages I found like two things I liked and stuck to them the entire period so for full liquids all I ate was yogurt and pudding for like 10 days haha, so I'm not rushing out to buy either any time soon -

Holy h-e-double hockey sticks... I am going crazy. Not so much because I'm starving to death because I have no restriction and therefore I'm not eating the best I should. I'm trying to get back on track! I gained 4 lbs this past week! EEEEK. Someone please refresh my memory - 4oz of meat? Time to start measuring my foods again. ARGH.
