December 2013 Sleevers Come In!
tami j replied to AtlantaRed's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
so had my Bariatric University today..and boy oh boy - surgeon requires 3 weeks of liquids, 4th week you can have puree'd. So one week pre-op liquids, so total of four weeks on liquids only. I was talking with the Nurse after class about different things and the post op stages - mentioned the forum and how there are so many different plans surgeons have for patients, she asked me what were some of them...and I said I really do not remember but that it seems most get to start puree on their 3rd week. Maybe I am mis-remembering? I spoke with a couple of other december sleevers and invited them here and on the FB page. Hope to see them soon Good luck to the sleevers due tomorrow, thursday and friday! edited: Surgeon has 4 full weeks after on liquids, 5th week starts puree. -

December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

So, I was laying in bed last night feeling anxious - .a couple of deep breaths in and out - and it passed quickly. Thank goodness - in another 13 days it may not pass so easily. Thinking about this weeks group and hoping they can all go in relaxed and come out feeling great! -

Oh no - I bought this too, and the Thai Ginger one.... I hope I like them... sounds like you have had a lot of different ones to find out if you like them or not - wonder if after surgery they will taste different to you as I have read on here from others? Good luck to all the Sleevers today and this week, wishing the best and prayers sent! -

Slow day at the office - hope everyone is having a wonderful week - After hearing many folks say - "I really don't have many before pictures because I hated getting mine taken" I realized that WOW - I don't either, because I dodge and also I am usually the one taking the pictures at many gatherings. What is really even more upsetting is that when I was younger I have one photo of me before I had my daughter where I was healthy and fit and worked out all the time. I was this way for nearly 2 years and literally have one photo and one Christmas Video on VHS to remember that I can do this, because I did it before. I will also be SMILING in my "before" pictures that I am taking now, because I look much better when I smile - so no solemn look on my before pictures - I am smiling because I can hardly contain myself that I am 19 days out until my surgery. I'm ready to stop dodging the camera and step out from behind it more often to join in the group shot! So I took one yesterday at 20 days before - should I wait to do the next at 1 week before or 1 day before? After surgery I will probably make sure to AT least take pictures on the monthly date, along with those weekly weigh-in's where I have a milestone weight loss to go along with it. Any other tips from those that have been there - wished they had done (fill in the blank) before they started their WLS journey?

Getting The "before" Pictures Ready

What a great idea, being a photographer myself, I have many friends that I do photo walks with. I may have to book one of them after I'm halfway to goal and again at goal! In the meantime I think I will do the self timer since I usually have sessions I squeeze in for clients out side my regular job where I'm behind the camera then the editing takes time. Listen to me... Haha ducking behind again Thank you for the idea for sure... Never would have booked a session for myself, but will defiantly do that in 2014. -

You are so right! I have that on my list now! I do have a journal from way back when with my measurements from 98-2005 when I would do weight watchers on and off again and it helped when the scale didn't move to see the inches go away! I will try to get that journal out to keep track! Thanks!!!! -
Foodbabe.com excerpt from the about section: I became incredibly passionate about understanding what is in food – how it is grown, what chemicals are used in its production, and what eating food does or doesn’t do for the body. I am most knowledgeable about harmful ingredients in processed foods and how to avoid them. For this reason, I have made it my mission to spread as much information as I can about what is in food, how to make the right purchasing decisions at the grocery store and how to live an organic lifestyle in this over-processed world Here are some of the top topics she posts that I copied from her site... she also is on Facebook which is how my best friend introduced me to her How Food Companies Exploit Americans with Ingredients Banned in Other Countries The United State of GMOs – Keeping Us in the Dark Coca Cola’s Low Calorie beverages Will Kill You Before They Solve Obesity The Healthiest Protein powders On the Market Toxins vs.Tradition – What Will Win On Your Thanksgiving Table? Laure ven, the NUT actually pointed out to us in class about this very same thing. She even had an empty yoplait container when they attempted to say they had Greek yogurt when it wasn't, but filled with cornstarch and pectin... Ect. Instead. It amazes me how much junk I have eaten thinking it was "good" for me, and my best friend had to go show me food babe.... Don't get me started on that!

I just had to read this out loud to my husband while we were going home (we carpool) because it was right on! Now we will probably be seeing protein tagged on allot of stuff. Ugh - baby Ruth really?

No I am self pay, there is specific exclusion of WLS on our insurance. But have a hiatal hernia that will also be repaired, so at least a portion will be covered for that, which helps some. There is a group in Plano that I have not been too - but they meet one saturday a month at a coffee shop, it is people from this site. There is also a list of Hospitals and places that have support groups. Like in Downtown Fort Worth, and Grapevine that I have been wanting to attend, but have not yet. There are several more in Dallas which would be closer to you than their are in FT Worth. I will see if I can find the calendar document that lists all of them and send you the forum page its on. Its in the Local section of this site for Dallas. My Doctor offers support once a month as well - but I missed Novembers, and looks like I will be having my surgery during the December one! So it will be January before I could go to that one. -
Highly recommend Art of racing in the rain and a Dogs purpose. Both two great dog books from the dogs perspective.
-
since the subject of books came up, has anyone read the book thief? I will be picking that up or maybe the divergent series for my time off for my surgery.
