    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Ken welcome to the december sleevers! AtlantaRed or Mnwin will add you to the growing list! Glad to see another local Fort Worth sleever!
  3. West 7th, yes lots of live music... museums and bowling! I went bowling last night and had a blast! also switching up and if you do find someone active and you have also upped your activity - suggest a morning walk/jog/run near the trinity then head to have coffee. by the way Ken - are you a december sleever? IF so, check out the monthly sleevers forum called "December Sleevers come on in" and join others also being sleeved in December. I really think you will be focused on your self for a while and having support here is certainly a great start. You will figure the dating thing once you get in your own groove. Good luck and hope your surgery goes great!

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

I read this over and over on my surgeon as well - also have two second cousins that went to him and a neighbor. they commented that his bedside manner is not the greatest - but that we are not choosing him for being nice, but for being Great at what he does. He has been in our area for quite a while and knows what he is doing and that is what is important. My husband and I actually liked him, when we consulted with him back in September.

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

I like that this thread is all in one, yes, granted if I am off the boards for a day and a half like recently, then I had 5-6 pages to catch up on this topic as well as another very active topic I am following. Whew - I dont feel like I respond near as much when I am so far behind, but I am afraid that I would lose touch with December sleevers if they were not in this thread along with me because I would forget to check other boards. I will need to be more frequent if I want to actually particpate in the discusions! By the time I have read them things have moved on I love the spreadhseet Atlred, thank you for sharing - I thought I had seen that it before - glad you all found the OP. So glad to see all the new surgeries scheduled! I am on 12/16 and have a confession to make - last week I tried to get my surgery moved up if possible to December 9th - no luck as the 9th & 16th were booked, but they could have moved me to 12/2 - WAY to soon. I was worried about not being mobile on christmas - but my scheduler (who also has had the sleeve) at the dr office assured me that I would be mobile within the same week of my surgery and so we kept it the same. I had my hospital PRE-OP yesterday, and I think I will really like this hospital, the staff is very friendly and this is where my EDG was done. I have my Dr. Office Pre-Op Dec 2nd, then liquids start Dec 9th - I do not know what all that entails for the week, but sure I will find out on 12/2, they call it Bariatric University and have a booklet they hand out to us. They showed us a bit of it in the NUT class - and it seems extensive. On the preparation front: I have bought fitfrappe coffee flavored chai with protein and love it! I am glad I took a chance on it. I also purchased Torani SF syrups in some cool flavors after folliwng eggface for a while, that will be used for down the line, but they were on sale so had to go ahead and get them. I have used them in my coffee for flavoring and they are very yummy. Still need to get the Unjury chicken and unflavored, as well as a shaker bottle. I have my pillow and I will need to dig out my heating pad somewhere. I have a magic bullet, but figured that will come in more handy during pureed stage. I just froze a small serving of beef stew to try pureed - hahaha was just about to throw it down the drain and thought.... it certainly is worth a try! Sorry for the long post... just feels like I am so behind - wishing everyone a great head start!

    What's Your Favorite Store Now?

I hope to have enough 14 & 12 in my closet for work clothes as I drop (currently 18) but I have gotten rid of so many over the years thinking they wouldn't be in style anyway! Kept the classic dress pants and button ups. May spend some recovery time after surgery taking inventory of what is really I the three bins at the top of that closet! (With hubby's help getting them down of course)

  12. Yes I get the I don't see it's too. I am mostly proportionate all over... But 100 pounds overweight! One of my best friends doesn't believe me. I take the compliments when I can get them! I also can look in mirror all dressed up for special occasion and feel beautiful and confident, then I see a photo later and wonder where all that confidence came from? I guess I am secure in my relationships be it family, friends that I have more to offer than my appearance and maybe that is where the "damn, I look good!" Comes from? I have thought about wls for nearly two years and finally am doing it! So no matter what anyone says or can't believe I need that- I know that I am doing what I want to and what is right for me! Now to look at a photo of myself 6 months to a year from now and say "damn, I look good!" Will be awesome!
  13. Way to go! You look great!!!

    Drinking While Eating

Eating and drinking is my biggest concern about being sleeved. I have always been a water guzzler, so I keep telling myself to start practicing this but I forget so I will drink 20oz in no time - refill and do it again. At work typically have about eighty oz I know that I will not be able to do this anymore after i am sleeved.

    Dallas, Texas Sleevers! !

Hi all I am being sleeved 12/16 I looked over the Fort Worth locations and the Grapevine one as well on the spreadsheet linked on this forum. has anyone been to any of thees? I am in North Fort Worth, but work in Irving. May be a little tough getting to either location by 6, but want to know if there are any insights from those that have attended either one of those. Thanks in advance Tami

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

I'm the 16th as well, I've had some crazy thoughts enter my mind, then I get nervous then I try hard to move on! I am very nervous at times and at same time I am excited for starting this journey! Maybe plan some things with friends since you will be recouping afterwards? I have plans every weekend with something! I think I'm purposely keeping my weekends busy so I keep from getting as nervous! Painting furniture this weekend with a friend, sorting clothes by size - not sure how that's gonna keep my mind off things as much! I also have a maternity photo shoot coming soon so taking and editing pics, then I have a sip and paint the Saturday before liquid diet and finally last Saturday before surgery some friends and I are doing a run or dye 5k at the ballpark in Arlington, we are all walking tho especially I will be on liquids only-----and there is a holiday mixed in there too! Oh my - talk about a diversion!

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

If you still need something I could pull it together for you tomorrow, my laptop at home is mostly for editing photos from my shoots, so I didn't laid excel on it - believe me raw photos take up tons of space!
  19. Very inspirational! Congrats to you both!
  20. I am very glad to find this post - and its nice to see everyone was happy with the staff. I have my surgery coming up 12/16/13, and will be using Dr. kim at Texas General. I sent PM My ekg was there and the staff were wonderful, I am just more worried about being self pay and how the whole insurance part works since I did have a hernia as well that will be taken care of at the same time. I just received my explanation of benefits from my insurance for the EKG and I am now a little worried about how that part all plays out.
  21. Congrats! It sounds like your journey has been truly amazing!

Anyone have experience with Fitbit one?

I have the one, it was on my Christmas list last year! I have it sync to myfitnesspal. Fit it is a great company... My daughter got her one at Christmas and managed to lose it by February - I asked to see if there was a way to locate it, there wasn't but they asked me to send my receipt and they replaced it within a few days!
