Two Years out: LISTEN UP NOOBS AND SEEKERS! *warning-harsh*
9storme6 replied to Dooter's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Best Topic ever!! I know that the sleeve or any bariatric surgery is just a tool, not a cure all. I had my sleeve October 30, 2013. I was worried at first that it wouldn't work at all, silly me. Guess I still have it in my head that diets don't work for me. I have been doing very well, I've lost 52 lbs and lots of inches. I go to the gym regularly and eat what I am supposed to. But when I go visit family or friends out of town, it all goes out the door. I feel like I'm going to just go back to all my bad behaviors. I need to get my butt back to the basics and get back on track. I haven't been on the site for a long time, then I read your post today. Its the encouragement and butt kicking I needed. I know there will be set backs, I just don't want to fall back into bad behaviors and not lose the weight I need and want to. I am glad that there are honest sleevers out there. The truth may hurt, but it will set you free. Thanks for the post. -

I was told I had to wait a year before having alcohol. Im 3 weeks out, and I don't think my stomach could tolerate it. Having trouble with the Vitamins, so Im thinking I should wait till I can at least get those down. I love my wine, and have quite a few bottles, but Im waiting for the right time. Im concentrating on getting thin and healthy, Ill have my wine later.

Im not going to lecture you, but the whole part of having gastric surgery is to lose wt and change our eating habits. Sugar makes me ill, OMG I tried a popsicle and almost puked. They say we are prone to bad behavior, so a bite here and there might not seem like a bad idea, but what if that becomes more than that. I feel that having this surgery was a huge deal. I don't want to do anything to mess this up. Im 41 and I feel this is my chance to get healthy and thin for once in my life. Im trying very hard to do what I am supposed to. I wish you all the luck in the world on your journey, just remember every decision we make has consequences- good and bad. -
Its funny, I loved Water with lemon before my surgery, now it makes me sick. I used to love all my drinks with ice, lots of it, not now. I either have to drink it room temp or hot. So weird. Im doing the lemonade crystal light, I have always liked it. I drink a lot of decaf tea, hot and iced. Its really what I drank before surgery as well. Im still on the fluids, ugh so bored with them. My sister told me to try Almond milk, its a good source of Calcium, so I am going to try it. It is very hard to find something low cal/sugar free to drink. Tea settles my stomach. Hope you find something you like. Ice makes flavored water that is very good, just make sure you don't get the sparkling. Good luck.

This happened to me and after the review it was all good. Some insurance companies are picky. If you have co morbidities and your wt and BMI are not healthy you should not have a problem. Good luck. Keep us updated.

October 2013 Sleevers Roll call!
9storme6 replied to nik2nite's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sleeved on 10/30/13 with a weight of 272. I think I am doing ok, having a problem getting vitamins down, just doing my best. Im sick of the fluids already, but its all part of the journey. According to my scale I have lost 12 pounds. I was tired all the time, but yesterday I had trouble sleeping, thought that was odd. I think food commercials should be outlawed, or at least the pizza ones, lol. So good luck to everyone, keep in touch. -

So I'm new to all of this, not sure if I am doing this right, sure you will let me know. I had my Gastric Sleeve on October 30th, 2013. I love Halloween(not for the candy) and thought to myself, its a good time to have surgery. I'm still sore and tire out easily but doing ok. I thought about having a Sleeve for about a year. I work as an RN in an operating room and see the surgeries every day. Perks of this, I really got to see how it all happens, ask lots of questions, and pick my team. I can't say how blessed I am for the care my friends gave me. I'm tired of the fluid thing already, craving pizza ( I did through my whole pregnancy) and sore. I am the third in line of four girls. And oh lucky me, I'm the fat sister. I finally decided to do something about it. I want to be healthy for my daughter and my gorgeous Canadian boyfriend of six years. He took care of me for the past week, he did a great job. He had to go back home today, so I am very down, but trying to keep my chin up by walking and reading all the posts on this site. I have a beautiful 17 year old daughter who thank God did not take after me in the weight department. I'm just starting this journey and I am a bit scared. Hoping that seeing how others cope will help me stay on the right track.
