I went through the same thing prior to getting my lap band... I had to lose 50 lbs to get my BMI under 50 before my insurance would cover this surgery... Well, knowing my past history of trying to lose weight it was a struggle... Many times of gaining and losing over a 5 month period. But the one thing that really helped me lose and keep losing was trying the post surgery diet. I ate only the foods allowed post surgery. Protein shakes, Low-Calorie intake, low sugar Jello, etc...
Not only did this help me lose but it also helped me identify the foods that I will be having for the rest of my life... The Myoplex Carb Sense by EAS are my favorite things to have... chocolate and vanilla... I replaced most of meals with them.
