    portion sizes

For breakfast I eat 1 cup of Go Lean Cereal with a few strawbs or half a banana. Before could only manage 3/4 of a cup. For dinner I found I can eat a larger portion more recently as I pasted the nine months mark, probably a cup and a half but still a small portion compared to the rest of the family. Take care and yes I can drink more easily now too but still have to wait a while after eating.

    Guy's any regrets?

Nope no dry heaves. Stomach does still complain very hard when I try to eat too much. Managing to eat more at 10 months out but all depends how dense the food is so sometimes tough to judge but so far no reversals of fortune. Key is to not try and go past that first message especially early on. Know it is hard to leave food on the plate but often that is the best course of action. My NUT basic message is soon as you are feeling full stop eating. Have learnt that is a message best listen to. Take care and trust you are making the right choice in the long run.

    May sleevers results so far!

That's fantastic pierceddqt78, the sleeve has been good for you. That is a great BMI to be at after nine months. I didn't lose much in January after six months of solid losses but since I ramped up my exercise the last couple of weeks it is starting to move again.

I am back.... 3.5 weeks post op

Glad you are feeling better. Stick with the program and the weight loss will follow. Seems like everyone's surgery experience is different. I threw up after the barium meal but was OK otherwise with not too much pain. Sure could have done with the little pillow in hospital but had one ready at home.

Getting nervous due to all the comments I am hearing

That was about it for me, surgery at 10am and home the next day around 6pm. Long as you pass the leak test, if your surgeon does one, and then manage to pee enough you should be home the next day. So having enough liquids is key to getting out.
  6. Been eating various crackers since not long after the surgery. Not had any issues eating them with Soup or chilli and NUT has always said they are on the diet.
  7. I was 56 when I had the sleeve. What I love about it is the lack of adjustment needed and the fact it reminds me every meal when I have eaten enough. It is a great tool as long as you stick to the overall diet and yet allows you to eat almost anything without a violent reaction. Good luck and try the diet out now to see if you can stick to it. Thankfully now doughy bread does not sit well in my stomach so avoid it now.

    guacomole?

Guac is one of the things I found I can no longer eat. Does not agree with my digestion anymore and I used to love it. Refried Beans are fine and had them from the blender when I was in the mushy food stage and still eat the low fat ones.

    Time off after Sleeve

I was out for two weeks and was tired for the first few days back and fine after that. Only bad part was a bus commute so was in pain when the bus hit a pot hole.. I have an office job so probably easier transition than nursing.
  10. Nine months out and the volume I can eat has probably doubled from three months out. Up to probably 6oz of meat and some veggies which seem to be less filling to me so can pack them in after the meat but feel very full at that point for a while.
  11. Surgery weight was 295 in late May 2013 and lost around 50lbs in the first three months. Stuck to the diet for the first six months. Loosened up a bit recently with the diet but still going down slowly for now. At 9months now and a few pounds from being considered a normal weight. Good luck in your journey.

Getting ready for a new me '14

Good luck in Jan Fullofitx3, I was XXXL this time last year and now can wear a lot of M tops.. I waited at least three years before taking the plunge as hate the thought of surgery and was glad I waited as in that time VSG became the best option for most of us I suspect. So far it has worked like a charm but will be interesting to see how everyone is doing in five years time but hopefully it will be easier to stick to a good diet having had the VSG as an aid in the background.

    Weight loss question...

Not sure about the fingers as don't wear rings but have had to tighten my watch strap about three extra holes since the surgery, my arms are much thinner for sure. Seemed to be the first thing to slim down as I lost weight.

    6 months out...my thoughts & a pic

Congrats to you, great attitude towards the surgery. Have bad knees as well and trying to avoid the knee replacement as long as I can too.
  15. Yep had weird gurgling noises for the first few weeks after drinking. Didn't cause any issues though. They are not as bad now I am six months out, but started getting hiccups this week which I hadn't had since the surgery.

    Catheter?

Had one too and was a first for me as well and was one of my big fears going into surgery. They put it i when I was out and was in for 24hrs before they took it out the next day. Can't say it was the most pleasant part of the surgery but was not painful for me and nurse taking it out was very careful.
  17. Went back to work after two weeks too. Everything felt fine so surgeon cleared me to start work again at the two week checkup. Was still a bit tired at the end of the day the first week back at work and I commute on a bus which ended up being a bit painful on the incisions when it went through potholes. Everyone will be different though in the end on whether they still feel pain or not at that point.

    May sleevers results so far!

Quick update, had my six month checkup and NUT/surgeon were very pleased with my progress and was 204lbs on their scale. She said to just keep up with the same diet and no alterations suggested. That was two weeks ago and today weighed in at 199lbs so managed to reach onederland six and a half months after the surgery and have a BMI of 27 which is amazing to me. Waist down to 38 now from 56 and jacket from XXXL to M. People at work who have not seen me for a year do not recognize me till I talk to them. Managed to survive the office Christmas party and still register a small drop in weight this week. Good luck to all May sleevers over the rest of the holiday season. HW 360 SW 295 CW 199

May sleevers! How much have you lost so far?

My surgery was 5/28. As of today, I am down 89lbs from SW of 293 to CW of 204 and am off all my meds. Had a very slow progression for exercise as have had a lot of dizziness from low blood pressure but have steadily lost weight by pretty much sticking to the diet. Know that need to get the strength training going over the winter. Doc has never given me a goal weight but would love to get to a BMI of 25 which would be 175lbs for me.

    Coffee Question.,,

No restriction on coffee by my NUT here too. Soon as I went back to work two weeks after the surgery I resumed my normal 16oz coffee in the morning, just with skim milk now and no sugar. NUT said to include it as part of the liquid intake. Read somewhere recently that the caffeine causing dehydration had been debunked a while ago.
  21. Planning on turkey, fresh cranberry sauce, sprouts, small portion of stuffing if it is crispy and maybe some baked yam. Dessert will be a baked apple instead of the apple pie and ice cream everyone else will have.
  22. Yes good luck Lyn. I am sure they will take good care of you. Just remember to follow the Drs. instructions.
