What Did You Wear To And From The Hospital?
Fluffnomore replied to MindiJean's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yoga pants, t shirt, bra, Ugg slippers. The abdominal binder covered the incisions so there was no problem with the bra interfering. I just basically had the same outfit with a pair of underwear to change into. The rest of the time in the hospital I was in one or two hospital gowns (depending on whether I was doing laps in the hall or not.) -
GG: regarding loosing/losing. I know. I know. I'm a bitchy grammar snob. It's/its; your/you're; their/there/they're…they all drive me into a silent fit of pointless rage. For all intensive purposes, irregardless. Every year I hope I will improve. Every year my hopes are dashed.

Nurses As Bariatric Patients
Fluffnomore replied to LynRN's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Interesting post. My mom is a nurse and nurse advocate, and she was initially shocked by the idea of the surgery. (She's not in a hospital any more.) But as the weeks have passed I know that she's done some research on her own and she is now pretty helpful and probably knows more than the average person. She also was one of my callers early on urging me to hydrate and walk. My sister had a different kind of surgery over the summer and didn't tell our mom because she didn't want the NurseMom voice dogging her recovery. I find it comforting now. -
Confused On Protein Consumption/meal Overview: Lot's Of Questions For Pros :)
Fluffnomore replied to Misti M's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in the same stage as you and while it has been wonderful to branch out with Cream of Wheat and Soups I have to be careful to get my Protein in. I am averaging anywhere from 600-900 calories and typically it is easiest to drink at least one protein shake to help get to that goal. It's much easier to hit your protein goals drinking shakes, but I am trying to ease away from them now. Other suggestions: buy some unjury (or whatever kind you like) unflavored Protein powder. Add it to soups and yogurts. A scoop or half a scoop give you a lot of extra protein. Try some of the bariatric pudding/shakes on the market. With 4 oz of Water they're pudding and with 8, a shake. Again, a lot of bang for your buck with a slightly different texture. -
Sipping could hurt the sleeve. I understand what you're saying, because I love wine too…but I am really concerned about hurting myself.

I think we're similar, because I started CF n August also. I am both looking forward to and dreading getting back to it. Not unlike looking forward to and dreading WoDs!

I'm only 5'5"…but the lowest I remember getting into is a 10. Like, 25 years ago. I am really interested to see what happens with me. Our stats are similar, I wore an 18 prior to surgery. But it sounds like I have a LOT of weight to get through between sizes.

How tall are you, L-V?

Here you go: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NARBP60iU2E And in honor of my profession, it's musical.

First of all FIDDLEMAN! We were wondering where you were... I go to my 4 week checkup this week and we will decide if I can go back then. I am glad Brighteyes to have your input, as I am sure I will be a disaster at the box, but I miss it and need to start up something again. Walking is not cutting it. It's fine, but I miss my people. But if they tell me 6 weeks I will wait. The timing might be better anyway since we are traveling for Thanksgiving.

Here's what I don't get about the whole band vs sleeve debate. Obviously, those of us who went to a sleeve think it was the better choice, at least for ourselves. But I am not an expert on the band, and have no interest in debating minutiae about it. I know that I felt the band would be more invasive *to me* and that's why I chose what I did. I also feel like I have a damned lot of follow up appointments this year. Maybe I'm wrong about that. Also, I am going to say this here and then try not to say it again. We are not LOOSING weight. We are LOSING weight. ARGH. Should I take this over to rants and raves? Or maybe post another naked dancing video?

I know because we're looking at this right now that our surgeon only does sleeves on Thursdays, and that his office says he is only working the first two Thursdays in December. That said, when I was at the hospital the pre-op nurse told me there are cancellations almost every week. I would ask if they have a policy about that. In my case, it would have been tricky to complete the 5 day liquid diet prior without much notice, but if you are determined to go in December maybe you can do the lead in every time the surgeon is scheduled, just in case? It's tough but it might work. Good luck!

I've lost a 2-year old, my husband lost a mid size microwave. You?

Imagine carrying an elephant's penis around all day long. -
I said Laura and LSL…I mean, you clicked at your own peril. But do you have any new ideas for the Bariatric Pal Musical Revue? Audition song for Sleevers: I Live for the Applause Audition song for Banders: Pure Imagination

So funny. I bought a pair of jeans today. They're a size smaller and they fit well, so I'm thinking that means they won't fit for very long. I'm taking them back. I think I'm going to wear my current pair until it either becomes embarrassing or I wear them out, and then shop. Hopefully I'll go down one more size in the meantime. They're nothing special, just Denizen dark wash, so it's not a big deal to return them.

Well, I don't care. Please pass me the bleach and some q-tips so I can cleanse my eyeballs.

What in the Sam Hill was THAT? When y'all call me a meanie I feel special.

Keep your hands to yourself, Missy, or I'll send Butter over to butter your buns. Err. Beans.

No, that sums it up exactly. I didn't get the lap band because I didn't like my chances of having a problem…something like 30%? I also didn't want to mess with a port. I guess that makes me "lazy" and "uninterested in having an ongoing relationship with my surgeon." Whaaaa? I really didn't realize this was a competition until I visited these boards.
-
Stay out of the lap-band forums. I like having 85% of my stomach cut out. That had to have been, what, one or two pounds lost right there? Also, I don't have to worry about O'Brien or my sweet spot. It's all built in.

Have You Lost Without The Work Outs?
Fluffnomore replied to KeeWee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm waiting to be cleared. Probably 1-3 weeks, depending. I'm early enough that I'm losing fine. -
I'm not a night eater, but my husband is. I have just realized how his behavior works. I go to bed early; he goes to the fridge when he thinks I'm asleep. Very sneaky, sis. I agree with the going to bed early thing.

You look wonderful. I'm sorry about your hair loss, though.

What People Will Say Now They Wouldn't Say Before
Fluffnomore replied to thedivinemsQ's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I know it's wrong, but based on whoever started this earlier I think my default answer to anyone whose comments annoy me will be "Kiss my ass!" I am looking forward to this particular issue though I'm sure it will annoy me when it happens.
