That is amazing! Can't believe you didn't get restriction. Hopefully you will with your next fill.
-
WOW! 7cc's in a Vanguard is a lot for a first fill. My husband has a Vanguard and he got 3cc's on his first fill and got some restriction. Granted not a lot but some. It only holds 10cc's right? Did they do it under fluro? Are you sure it all got in there? It just sounds like a alot not to have restriction. I no expert though.

Honestly there is no need to have it removed. That would require another surgery. Once you have lost your weight, why don't you just have it unfilled. You will never know you have it. That way....if you do begin to gain weight....you can have it filled again.

I'm back, had my plastic surgeries...

Estella, I'm glad you recovered from all the surgery! You are very brave to go through so much. Like so many others I can't wait to see your pics to see what kind of a difference it has made. Best wishes on your recovery and continuing journey! -
Wishisg you all the best. Congratulations! Please keep us posted on how you are feeling.

My husband tells people he was stabbed. You'd be surprised at how many people believe him. Hehehehe! Being that it's summer and we are out on the boat or swimming, it's hard for him to hide is scars.

I still think a fill should be your choice. You know your body. I just called the fill center and scheduled my second fill and I didn't even have to ask my doctor for his okay. Totally MY choice. I have restriction but not like I did after my first fill. I work with the people at the fill center and tell them what type of restriction I am looking for and asked them not to be too agressive and my last experience was great. Good Luck with your fill. I hope it all works out for you.

I'm new here - but have been banded four years

That's so interesting. I felt that way when I had good restriction. I made an appoint to get a fill on August 16th. I know that will help me get back on track with the weight loss. I am still losing but only about a lb a week. Thank you so much for sharing your experience. It is good to talk to someone who has been banded for so long. I hope everything works out with your reflux. -
I would call the doctor and tell him you are ready for your fill. Did the contract state that the fills only could be done in certain timeframes. If not, you paid so you should decide. DixieDallas, I know what you mean about needing another fill. I am so ready for another one. I weighed this morning and I am at 168. I should be closer to 160 by now. I get my new insurance on Aug 1st and I am going to schedule a fill right away. I hope you find a good facility to do your fills soon!

Good Luck with your surgery and weight loss. The journey bengins....

Every person is different. If you are not losing weight then you most likely need a fill. Usually after 6 weeks they will recommend that you get your first fill. I think it should be your choice. Are you paying for your fills or was it included in the surgery price?
-
Yep, it's the best!

Hi Mae, I was glad to read your story and I want to say I am sorry about your band slippage. I have had one fill and have gotten some restriction. Mostly in the mornings. I have been stuck at 20 lbs for several weeks. I want to get another fill but I am waiting for my new insurance to kick in on August 1st. You give me hope...seeing that your first 6 months were tough for your weightloss, but that you finally achieved success. I hope my next fill will speed up or jump start my weight loss. I would also be interested to know what you eat in a typical day when you felt good restriction. -
PRAISE GOD that it was benign! What a blessing and releif to you and your family.

Thanks for the info Kellie that makes me feel better.

Hi, it's been almost 2 months since my band surgery and I have had what looks like a faint bruise around my port. It has been there ever since my surgery. The doctor gave me an antibotic at my 2 week visit just to make sure I did not have an infection. Has anyone else experienced anything similar to this?
-
Warm coffee or tea does the trick for me.
-
Why is that??? In the morning it is so hard to eat but later in the day the food seems to have no trouble going down. I wish it was the other way around. It'd be better not to eat at night. It's one of those quirky band things.:devious

It's possible the tingling area could be the port. Mine felt that way a little. My port is actually directly under my scar. I just wish the bruised look would fade away.

Welcome to LBT. This is a great site. You will love it and it is easy to use:)

Estela, Thanks for your response. When I went for my fill earlier this month my port was fine. It was exactly where it was supposed to be. My husbands had flipped and they had to do some adjusting of his in order to do his fill. He is not bruised around his port though. I haven't noticed my port being sore but on some day it protrudes more than others. I am going to have to doctor look at it.

Mine were like yours....I thought they would never come off. It took about 10 days and when the corners started coming up I couldn't help myself...I had to mess with them until they came off. By then the incisions were pretty much healed.
-
Hey Kathy, Just want you to know that I will be praying for you. I hope everything comes out okay.
-
I took one the day after my surgery. Just be careful when washing your incisions. It will make you feel so much better too!

It's totally normal. It takes a couple of months to go down. I was banded April 27th and mine has gone down a lot. Occasionally I have days where it buldges out more than others. Don't worry.
