Can you handle some good news?!
angiebell replied to mom2babyrose97's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm so glad you are doing so well and I love your positive outlook on life and the things we shoulf be grateful for everyday. Wishing you continued speedy recovery. -
I use the bare minerals and I have also used the mineral secrets. I just love this make up! I get compliments all the time on how glowing my skin looks. I recommended it to my friend but told her to go to an Ulta Cosmetics store and she could try before she buys. She was so glad she did. She too has dry skin like some of the other people and she didn't like the way it looked on her skin. It's great for me and I love the fact that it goes on just like loose powder.

6 Days no Cheetos! I went to our place at the river and Cheetos have always been a weakness when I'm there. I actually only snacked on 1 handful of goldfish crackers the entire weekend. I lost 1 lb! Yeah!!!!

Great chocolate snack that's healthy!

Love the banana thing. I am for sure going to try that! -
A big howdy from Texas! We are in the same area. Good luck on making your decision. Welcome to LBT!

I really had to think about it but I will give up Cheetos for 30 days. They have been my weakness since getting the band. I guess it because they are easy to eat. I haven't had any in 3 days as well. Just got a fill and want to make it work this time!

Nykee, I went for a fill yesterday and the fill doctor told me to lay off of soup. It goes straight through your band and you will never feel restricted. I have been overfilled. YOU ARE OVERFILLED!! Just go get a little taken out. Yesterday they put in .4cc and I couldn't get down Water so they took our .2ccs and I feel great. I to am very restricted in the mornings and they told me from now on to get my fills in the afternoon. Drink something hot and it will open you up. Take small sips though. Call your doctor and ask for a slight unfill. You need to eat solid food. I was told it is the only way that the band will work! Please take all the advice and call your doctor. I know you had a horrible fill experince and believe me when you get that slight unfill it will make a huge difference!

Yep! That what is says in Photo Impression.

It is a lot smaller so I deleted it. It tells me the pic is too larger and to change it to 50x50 and that makes is tini-tiny.

Hey Kathy I'm in the club with you. We both are April bandsters. I went to the doctor today and I weighed 167lbs. That's 20 lbs since my pre-op diet. I have gotten down as low as 165. My NSV today was...when they took my blood pressure it was 120/90. Pretty good! I was excited about that. It had been elevated that last 2 times. Some of my size 14 pants I can take off without unbuttoning them. It depends on the brand I guess. All the new clothes that I have purchased, and that's not many, are size 12. I am able to walk 2 miles easily. I can paint my toes without my gut getting in the way. I will never again have to wear an XL shirt! At least there are positive things to keep us motivated! Keep up with the NSV girl!

Well it is really small. It said the max was 50x50 pixels so I changed it to that and it made the picture micoscopic. How did you do it?
-
I am trying to do one too. Let's see if it worked. Looks really small.

Having port removed on Friday

Oh you poor thing. I hope all goes well and listen to DeLarla! Get a second opinion. -
I have an appointment to get another fill tomorrow. I was feeling like I really needed one when I made the appointment. That same day at lunch I could barely get my food down. I have felt great restriction for the last week...then yesterday I was able to eat more than I should be able to. I have not really lost any weight since my last fill and then unfill. Maybe they took too much out? If I could have restriction like I did last week it would be great. My challange is to make the decision to go ahead and get the fill or to see if the restriction starts back up again. Since it went away yesterday I feel like I should still go ahead with my appointment. Has anyone else had this experience and what did you do?
-
Well, I decided to go ahead and get the fill. One thing that I did learn today is that I should get my fills in the afternoon since I am tight in the morning. They gave me .4 cc's and I pb'd on the water they make you drink before you can leave the office. They took out .2cc's and I was still having trouble getting the water down. I spoke to the fill person and told her I thought I would be okay becasue they were having me drink cold water and that was making me tighter. She said not to drink anything for an hour and to let my band rest. For lunch I drank warm chicken broth and I had no problems. She counseled me not to eat so much soup because it just goes through the band and I will never feel restriction. I need to eat protein first and then my veggies. She said to look at the size of my hand and to eat the palm size portion of protein and a palm size portion of veggies and then stop. If I am full before I eat that much then I should stop when full. I hope I do better. I weighed 167 at the doctor today. Haven't dropped any more weight. I am going to try hard to follow the rules and I walked 2 miles today and yesterday I walked 1 mile. Thank you to all of you that responded and I'm glad I'm not the only one that experienced this weird phenomon.

My Skinny friend has been a size 2 most of her adult life. She has gone up to a size 4 and freaked out about it becasue for her it was like going from a 14 to a 16. She loves to eat breakfast and lunch but eats very little dinner if any at all. She also said something that you'll NEVER hear a fat person say...."I forget to eat". Funny huh? I don't think I have ever forgotten to eat. Wish I had that problem. I used to be eating lunch and think about what I was going to eat for dinner. Luckily, with my band, I don't do that anymore.

Kathy, Thanks for the link. I have printed it out. Of course I am guilty of not eating exactly the right things and junk food too. I do eat vey slow and take only small bite. I never drink with my meals so I do a lot of things right too. I think I will keep my appointment and try and eat healthier and exercise more. Thanks for your feedback. I have been away from the board a while becasue my life is so hectic! I have lost a total of 2 pant sizes though. I am in a 12 now. So that is a NSV!

15 days post-op with side aches...anybody else?
angiebell replied to choldren's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had the same pain and it did finally go away. Every once in a while I will feel it again. I used one of those wide bands that velco around your waist for support and it helped. The bad part about that was that it made me sweat and it was hot. Time will heal it and the pain will go away. -
I tried rice this morning and PBed for an hour. Not fun!

ebonysilk, You will know if you are overfilled. You won't be able to get any liquid down. You may be able to at first but by the 2nd day you won't. Don't worry about it, I promise you will figure it out if you are. Have a discussion with your doctor and ask what their policy is if you should get overfilled. My fill center doesn't do any fills on Friday just in case you get overfilled. Surprisingly enough, they didn't charge me for the unfill either. Some places do. These are things you should ask your doctor before the surgery because they are all different.
-
Wow, your friend just may be concerned for you. You should at least talk with her about the vibe you are getting from her and find out what she is thinking. She may have just been having a bad day. I tell everyone about my surgery because I am proud of it. My friend had the surgery a month after me and she chooses to tell no one. That is her choice. She says I should be the spokesperson for the weightloss center because I am so open to share my experience. The way I see it, is that you can give other obese people hope that they can do something about their weight. So many people are uninformed about the lapband and once they see that it has not hurt you in any way but only helped you they usually say..."Can you get me some info on the surgery? I was always afraid to do anything like that because I've heard bad stories." We need to share the good side of how the lap band has made us feel better about ourself! Talk to your friend.

No alcoholic? But will I ever have beer again?
angiebell replied to LilAngel's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've had a couple and it just was not good anymore. The doctor said not to drink ANY because it can cause erosion of your band. I think if you had an occasional beer it would be ok. I have pretty much given it up altogether. -
Katterz, I had the same problem you are having when I got my last fill. Drinking anything cold made it much worse. I went and had a slight unfill and the relief was immediate! I could not eat or drink anything! When I went for the unfill they said my pouch was very swollen. I think it was from all the heaving. My husband won't even go get another fill because he works outside and he is afraid he won't be able to drink Water. Go today and get a little removed. You will be so happy that you did!

I read this post on behalf of Sandie and I agree that this is probably not the place to discuss this kind of topic. Yes, it may be relevent to discuss for some people but why couldn't you go on the Chat feature where the comments are not stored. Just a thought. I would hate to lose Sandie as a member as she has been a wonderful supporter to me though my band journey. Sandie please reconsider as I feel that Penni has addressed your concern.

If you show the card they gave you when you had your surgery, a lot of restaurants will give you the child buffet price. Ask them before get your food.
