What company did you book through? I referred my cousin to him but she can't fine him with the company I used - BariatricPal Deals.

    Surgery in Mexico

I used Dr Lopez last April and had a great experience! I'll be a year out on the 7th and I'm down 100lbs! I'd do it again, no question - in fact I'm going back to Tijuana for plastics in September!

    Longer hospital stay?

    Deep vein thrombosis (blood clot)
  6. Wks postop and this is day 2 of constant nausea. I haven't vomited, but I haven't eaten much either. Anyone have any ideas? Regular bm's, no abd pain, no new meds..

    5 wks

Ohh and I've taken two doses of phenergan and it didn't help at all.

    5 wks

I'm feeling pretty negative about it too. It makes me regret having the surgery. The nausea gets so bad that I dry-heave...or have to spit out saliva bc I'm too sick to swallow. Ughhhhh. Usually I'm glad I'm not the only one but in this case I'm sorry we're all going through this.
  9. I definitely have a stronger sense if smell now, it's weird!
  10. When are you doing the bowel prep? Mine was 3 days before surgery..and it was a rough night but by morning I was fine. Good luck to you Where are you traveling from? Just curious..I'm 3 hours from Dallas too, in East Tx
  11. I'm five weeks out too and have been so nauseated today. I've been taking my vitamins since surgery so I know it's not that. I did have some tea with "sweet and low" today instead of sugar and I'm thinking that may be it. It's been hours tho and I'm still feeling it :/

    help

I don't have much advice, I felt the same way and barely ate or drank anything..it all made me miserable. I can tell you that it does get better. About 4-5 weeks out I started feeling a little more normal. Now I'm able to drink just fine and eat most things with no problem. I had surgery April 7th.
  13. I was actually told that too, the extra air part at least. I found my self accidentally sipping from a straw one day tho and was amazed how much easier I could drink. I don't get gassy from it...and I figure even if I did a little gas is better than dehydration.
  14. I recently ran across a long post by a man who had lost quite a bit of weight and had a tummy tuck (I believe). He posted a lot of pictures, and details about his experience. Does that ring a bell to anyone? Probably a long shot, but I'm trying to find the post again to share with a friend who is considering surgery. Can anyone help?

    Back to work?

I was back at work 4 days after surgery and did just fine. I'm a nurse and work nightshift..I'm on my feet a lot but that felt better than sitting anyway. I have pretty great coworkers so they did all my lifting and pulling for me at first, but now 4 wks out I'm able to do everything with no problems. I think everyone is different as far as pain and recovery. Do what's best for you! For me, going back to work and being active was better than staying home.
  16. I should add that I had the depo shot twice in college and bled for six straight months..my body just doesn't do well with the extra hormones
  17. I have the mirena and have had a period 3 out of the last 4 wks. I'm sure it's related to surgery tho bc I've had it for a year and my periods have been regular (never stopped for me). If this continues I'm going to switch to the para guard. Yes you can use tampons normally, and it's effective immediately.
  18. That's my least favorite thing..not being able to gulp! I'm thirsty quite often but find it hard to sit long enough to sip a significant amount of fluid. I'm 4 weeks out. I can't drink plain water but have found that sf grape flavoring works well for me. I've also found that 2-3 sips at a time is my limit, but if I use a straw I can take bigger sips. I've never met my fluid goal, but I'm working on it!
  19. I've answered this before on another thread..but why not Everyone important to me knows...that includes some friends, most family and a couple of coworkers...and then I confidently tell anyone who asks. Everyone has been super supportive; I have my own team of cheerleaders! They have offered encouragement and accountability already and I'm only a month out. I did wait until after surgery to tell my dad and grandmother just because I knew they would worry. I was inspired to have this surgery because of two people who very boldly and publicly shade their journeys, and I don't hesitate to share mine
  20. I work nights also, and I'm a nurse. I've had no problem so far, even without caffeine. I walk around a lot! I returned to work 4 days after surgery.
  21. I'm going to just weight in on Mondays. It's already been tough..
  22. I was sleeved April 7th and dropped 23 lbs VERY fast. Then nothing. I kept reading about the three week stall and just tried to believe that it would start up again, but I was getting very discouraged. I was weighing everyday and would be anywhere from 249 to 251. This past weekend I went out of town so I couldn't weigh (and didn't need to). I just focused on protein and fluids and did A LOT of walking. I weighed this morning - 242! Hallelujah!!!

    So much gas.

I had gas so bad! I posted a couple of times about it on here...every sip or bite made me miserable and I'd have to get up and walk. I used gasX, Maalox, Prilosec and beano and STILL had gas. Walking helped more than anything tho it's annoying to get up and walk during a meal. I am happy to report that it has gotten so much better this week (my 4th week). Hang in there!

    Reforming The Fat Girl

@@lisacaron, I love this! I am never hesitant to share my story to help or encourage others! The whole reason I had this surgery in the first place is because of two people who were willing to share theirs. One I know and the other I've only "met" via Facebook, but both have been completely open and have inspired my journey!
  25. Thank you! Hang in there; it's hard to believe it will end but it will!! And yes, hopefully never come back!
