I definitely have the itching...and the liquid bandages are now starting to peel away...was given strict instructions to not peel them and let them fall off naturally...doing my best to try to resist the temptation!! -
So far so good...doing well!! Back at work, but I wish I had worked from home today...apparently NYC got this storm a lot worse than we did in MIddlesex County! How've you been?

Stuck at work!!! I was sleeved on 1/27, but I'm still on full liquids...can't wait to get to pureed foods...my biggest thrill is getting strained soup for dinner! I was also told to walk, but stay away from the treadmill, since you have the urge to overdo it...I can't wait to get back to the gym again!! -
Any other Jersey folks out there???

Wow Tate, you sound exactly like me! Sleeved on the 27th also, and although still a little sore, starting to get bored. Going for a walk later, heading back to work on Tuesday. Are you off pain meds yet? -
Sounds exactly like what I was on when I was pre-op...After the first few days, you really get used to it... Look forward to that evening meal, and it definitely helps you get used to post-op. I found it easiest just to do shakes for breakfast and lunch, and the small meal at dinner. Just be careful not to have too few calories each day.

Home from the hospital...In a little bit of pain, but nothing unbearable. Did have some nausea, and a little vomit, but this will pass. Doing a lot of burping, but luckily no shoulder pain. Now I'm so looking forward to being a loser, and joining all my other loser friends!!! -
Got sleeved!! Made out very well!!! Pain is not very bad so far, and things seemed to go very smoothly! It seems I passed the first leak test, and will have final tests later this morning, before they let me go home (if all goes well!). Now if only I could get some sleep!! My roommate seems to be in a great deal of pain! Please don't think I'm being insensitive, but it's gotten to the point where the staff is starting to ignore him (NOT a bariatric patient).

Hello CupofJojo, Is your preop diet liquids only or some other type of restriction? It seems each surgeon has different ways of prepping their patients for surgery. Mine was only for 2 weeks, but wasn't all liquids or anything...just a limited list of food I could eat.

I was sleeved today...or i'll now say yesterday...at 10am. The surgery went great!!! The pain is and always was pretty manageable, my throat is just a tad bit raw, I had one small episode of vomiting, and the staff at the hospital has made me very comfortable. But here in Jersey, the time is now 2:54am...why am I still awake? Because my roommate has decided to wait until 12:30 am to complain non - stop about everything, and now says the pain in his leg is totally unbearable. I understand that pain is pain...I really do...But even after medications were given and everything, I think he's just cursing and swearing and speaking at the top of his lungs just to hear himself speak...No rest for the weary tonight. -
Thanks much, HardWork13!! Where in Jersey are you??

Relationships after the sleeve. Are you happy and in it to win it? Are you ready to leave/divorce your tormentor?

I have been with my wife for 30 years, 28 of them married. We've been through quite a bit, but we've weathered the storm together!! It hasn't always been easy, and we weren't always on the same side, but in the end, we've made it through together, leaning on each other, and celebrating with each other!! She herself just went through a traumatic experience involving a life-threatening condition, where a near-emergency hysterectomy was necessary and I almost lost her!! Of course I was there for her every step of the way! Now that she's made it through this, she's been taking great care of herself and dropping pounds like crazy!! I however haven't had the same success on my own. When I first decided to go for the surgery, she was not at all for it...but after quite a bit of research and meeting with the surgeon and staff, she as well as the family are now extremely supportive. She (jokingly, I think!!) says her only concern is that I'll leave her for some younger woman, since I may be getting "more attention"...but there's no other woman on God's green earth who's ever been as special to me as she has always been, so no matter what size I am or ever will be, that's not going to happen!!! Definitely we're in it to win it!!! -
Hope you get a date soon!! Mine is coming up this Monday...getting anxious!!!

Please accept my apologies and excuse my ignorance, but I have never heard of phentermine...is this a type of appetite suppression medication? Anyway, my nutritionist never mentioned anything about it...just said to try and count on willpower. And for this reason, she was very much against an all-liquid pre-op diet. She thought it was a bit cruel to put someone on a post-op type diet when you still have a pre-op body. I'm on week 2, which allows Protein shakes for Breakfast and lunch, and a very limited low-carb, high Fiber and protein dinner, with 64oz of liquids in between. Snacks are allowed, but all must be sugar-free (and pretty much calorie-free!!).

Okay, Taylocat...you must be REALLY close by me...I live in Parlin!! So if you don't mind me asking, where are you? I'm living here in LaMer...I'm sure you know where this is?
-
Hello Pat!! Welcome!!! When I started the process, my nutritionist first taught me how to eat all over again...very interesting...then she put me on 1 Protein shake a day. I actually started losing! Now that I got my surgery date (January 27th), she then put me on the 'Liver-shrinking diet', which is 2 shakes a day, and a very small meal. Taking some getting used to, but I can't complain...at least it's not all liquids! She says that by the time I have the surgery, I'll be so used to the liquids and small meals that the adjustment will be a piece of cake!! (Pardon the pun!!) Wish you much success!!

Congrats Journey2bethin!!! Keep up the great work!!!

My nutritionist has me on Powerade Zero for Pre-Op, and strongly suggested it for post-op as well...zero calories, decent taste, and gives you the benefits of a sports drink. I was told to stay away from the Gatorade as well as the G2, because of the sugar content.
