    Psych eval

Basically, what your psych is looking for is that you will be able to mentally handle the physical changes which are about to happen to you. They will ask if you are ready for the changes ahead, if you're doing the WLS for the right reasons and you're not being coerced to do it or not, and they will want to know if you have any type of support system with friends and/or family. The Q&A process is generally pretty harmless...nothing to really worry about. Some are different than others, but the only thing I personally had to talk to the most about was why my other weight loss methods didn't work for me. As far as how long it takes, they say you need 2 sessions. I ended up having one 'double session', and the results were sent to my surgeon within 2 days. I wish you the very best...I'm sure you'll do great!!!

    Advice please...

The only reason I had trouble with stairs was because the pain meds had me a bit tired...by day two at home, I had no trouble with stairs as long as you take your time. I would want to be in the comfort of my own home as well...to me, it makes the recovery process that much better!!!

    Guy's any regrets?

No regrets at all now...I think i had one small instance of questioning my decision, the day after the surgery. I think it was because I wasn't keeping anything down, but it was because I kept trying to do things the 'old' way, by drinking and eating too fast!! But now that I've stopped being so damned stubborn, I'm good!! 4 weeks out, and getting back to the gym as well as walking, and losing inches and pounds...EVERYTHING in my closet now is too big!!! Very Cool!!!
  7. Anyone successful using Aetna? I figured I'd take a shot, hoping I read some previously outdated material.
  8. Congrats!!! Success is on the way!!!

    Hospital stay

I was told that without any complications, plan on staying overnight. That's what I was told, and that was what I did....wish you the very best!!

    Question

My surgeon gave me lots of SUGGESTIONS on what to buy, and told me what he recommends as far as what to look for, but he never sold anything to me nor did he force me to buy anything from him. My nutritionist gave me free samples of all sorts of stuff, and she sold a few different things to try in small quantities, and then told me where I can get them if I liked them. No one should ever force you to buy their products 'or else'...sounds kinda crooked if you ask me!!!
  12. I tried...I have Aetna, and waiting to hear back from them. Right after I signed up, I did a search on Aetna and their policy on coverage...what I found was that they do not cover any type of shakes or drinks, so I guess it's just a matter of time before I get the denial call.
  13. Believe me...it truly IS worth it, and you'll be just fine!! I can tell you from the experience I had as well as from those whom I've spoken to, the hospital staff are very comforting and supportive, the entire process is fully explained, and one of the best parts is you aren't going to remember any of the surgical process...before you know it, you'll be on your way to a better you! As long as you follow all instructions, you will truly be just fine!!

    January 2014 Sleevers Come In!

Very good tip...thanks!! But just out of curiosity...have you or anyone had the issue of that same type of pain when eating soup?

    POOP.

I mentioned this in another forum, but I'm sort of stuck 'in between'...post-op, I was going twice a day, but it was always very watery...thought something was wrong, but came to find out that since I was downing Isopure like crazy, this contains sucralose, which acts as a diuretic for me. I stopped with the Isopure, and now I'm going every other day. I take a pro-biotic daily, and I'm told that Colace is supposed to work wonders, especially for bariatric patients...gonna give this a try!

    Any Jersey Sleevers?

Believe it or not, the stages go by pretty quickly...stage 3 is kinda interesting, but just don't do like I did...since this is the closest you've been to 'real food' in a while, you may tend to want to eat faster, like in your pre-op days....please remember to take it slow, and listen to your body! For the first time, you're gonna know what 'full' feels like! As for us all hanging out one day...that really would be cool!!! We really should do this!! Just no buffets!!

    Any Jersey Sleevers?

The Sleep Apnea test thing was pretty much standard for my surgeon...I tested positive for sleep apnea, did another sleep study with a cpap, and then got sleeved before I got fitted for a cpap machine...hoping I'll lose enough to not need it at all!

    Any Jersey Sleevers?

My surgeon gave me a prescription for 40mg of omeprazole a delayed release capsule, which helped with the gas bc I was depending on gas-x entirely too much! What a difference. I had my surgery on 12/17/13. SW 267 CW 226 Thanks very much for the info on this, Journey2BNThin...I think I'll ask about this. I've been doing the Gas-X thing just about every other day.
  20. I just placed an order with abouttime today...got one of each flavor in the individual packets, to see which one I like best. From there I'll probably go ahead and order the bigger quantities...do you get anything for referrals, SuperFab? If so, let me know so you can get credit for me!
  21. Hello All! I was just wondering if anyone else has had this same issue... When I was pre-op, i could not handle Splenda...always gave me the 'runs'!! For both pre-op and post-op, I've been enjoying the Isopure Protein liquids from GNC, but noticed especially post-op that I had terrible diarrhea. I checked the label, and found that they are made with Sucralose, which is indeed Splenda! Now I'm noticing that almost all Protein shakes, Protein Bars, and liquid and chewable Vitamins contain Sucralose...having a hard time finding non-Sucralose products...anyone else having this issue?? I'd certainly appreciate your input!!

    Any Jersey Sleevers?

I'm finding now that the gas pain is really coming from the amount of food in eating. I'm guessing that's a sign. I'm on stage 3 now, eating mushies... And even though I'm eating the recommended amount from the nutritionist, sometimes it's still too much. As soon as I feel a little gas, I stop eating... This seems to be helping! And as far as our proximity, we should all find out whet we live and hand out one day... We could all go out to dinner and order from the kids menu!!!

    Any Jersey Sleevers?

Are you using Gas -X for gas? I find it works very well, and very quickly. By the way, I live in Sayreville as well!!
  24. Through research, I see that the Optimum Nutrition brand that GNC sells has no Sucralose... And they also have a few different flavors. Has anyone tried those?
  25. I think I might try the About Time that you mentioned... Thanks!!!
